I know I have said this before, but almost all teams have players ranked in tiers. Like they probably have Tier 1 which is a starter and possibly Pro Bowl player. They will not have 1 person listed, but probably 8-12. This continues all the way thru the top 200. Now they form their draft board by placing these tiers using positions of need first followed by positions not needed. Very rarely will they have a draft spot where no one of need is there. Most teams will probably try and move down in this situation I imagine.... As for players like QB's. If a team has no need or a QB, I am sure they just leave them off the board entirely. Green Bay has no need of a QB. I am sure they won't have one on their board next year.

I am simplifying this, but I am certain this is almost all teams approach.

Well we had Hurts on our board apparently, for some reason, either that or Howie saw a pet project and took him and disregarded their board.I just thought it was a dumbazz pick when we knew our lines were aging and would need replaced

Tired of hearing"take the BPA approach". ALL teams take the best player......at a position of need.

You think Reagor was BPA??

Thats why I came up with the Wentz and our 1 for Lawrence(of course the Jets would need to agree though lol). If you read back to my earlier post that dead money would be spread out

I read your earlier post about spreading out the dead money....Wentz won't be the ONLY Dead money we would be dealing with... I would defer to opinions of the board here.... but I suspect with the Covid losses in revenue league wide, if Peedy is fired  why wouldn't Laurie use that to clean house, get rid of Aging, Expensive stars and get as much Draft Capital as possible  going into a New Season....If Howie is reassigned, the New GM  might want the freedom to reshape the roster.

I just see a more measured approach by Laurie, because we talking about firing his first SB winning team leaders. Another consideration is draft able College football talent... the pool of bodies shrunk because of Covid... What will that Draft look like with the disruptions and limited scouting opportunities. There might be a Covid vaccine available for players and fans that are willing to take it. I for one WON'T be at the front of that line. Decisions, Decisions.

No, I had JJ all the way

Not for us but he was for HR. That is our main issue. He has no clue. Not sure what he is using for his priority but it may just be a dart board! He must suck at darts too.......

Alshon-gone, Djax-gone. Only other guy if we lost Wentz would be Ertz. IMO the SB winning team was Frank Reich's doing or at least his input

Well we DID need speed on the outside. That was a narrow minded view. There alot of fast guys. Killins who is on/off our roster is as fast or faster than draft darling Ruggs,so he should be on our 53 if speed is the only factor right? At any rate I was sold on JJ because even at the college level 1800 yards is very hard to ignore(and playing in a tough league to boot)

Yea he was in the mix. People talk on Jefferson he is having a great year good for him do we honestly think he is having that success here in philly right now in this offense??? I just don’t see it happening

John McMullen on Twitter: "When six teams put in a waiver claim on a player that’s a red flag indicating a lot of people think that guy can play. Howie Roseman and the #Eagles are on notice again with @PhillyWill11" / Twitter

I am not too concerned with releasing Parks, as I think he is what he is, a backup level safety. I do think he is better than Mills, who is severely overvalued by this team.

My hope is that the team uses the rest of the season to get a good look at some younger players in the secondary, as I would say that is the area of greatest need right now. If guys like Wallace, Jacquet, Epps and Arnold can show something, it changes the complexion of the next draft immensely.

On a related note, we can't put Maddox at outside corner against Valdes-Scantling. He just doesn't have the size to cover him. If there was ever a game to roll the dice with Jacquet, this is it.

Disagree Mills really hasn’t been a terrible S been avg. maybe even slightly above... His problems come when we have him playing CB most of the time

Why can't one of the fastest humans in the game run past these CB at least Once or twice this season?WHY?

They have plenty this year either Wentz doesn’t see them, he doesn’t have time in the pocket, or just completely misses the throw over or under throwing it.

OK I'm not bashing the guy, but this "highlight" reel is basically 99% of him running or throwing under 15 yards. With the 1,2 passes he threw at distance he was "ok" I'm sorry-JMO, I don't see a round 2 QB on this highlight. Nice BU, but you can get those later in the draft(I want Zac Thomas in this next one)

Peyton Manning through 1999-2001
1999: 26 TDs 15 INTs (13-3 record)
2000: 33 TDs 15 INTs (10-6 record)
2001: 26 TDs 23 INTs (6-10 record)
You can’t give up on Carson Wentz after one brutal year.

No need to fire Howie, just take the GM part away. Ped needs fired. Still making poor decisions 5 years in. Gave him a pass years 1,2,but now there are no more excuses. All coaches deal with injuries, but learn to stop making bonehead decisions. We just keep spiraling down like a whirpool. My buddies for other teams are loving this because I have nothing to say. I have no more ammo

Who's responsible for our cap and talent situation? Not Doug though Doug has enough to be blamed for. Howie's primary strength seems to be office politician.

IDK-who is responsible for keeping those players ON the field? Even if he has some bad picks, they are mostly pine riders,so I can't put that on Howie. I DO think that "/GM" needs to be split back up. But that is Luries decision. So, really it won't matter who we draft,or who we acquire of FA if we have the leagues biggest mash tent. Must be the water in Philly lol

Maybe it depends on who is making the decision about who plays. It should be Doug and staff but there are rumors that our favorite draft genius has input. If true that would explain a lot.

If you can't' trust your HC to be making those decisions then you need to find one you can.

Same here.

Would you have been happy with taking BPA last year?  I know I would have.

Always been a weird power structure around Doug... Seen reports saying he wants to be fired and that would not shock me he will get another HC job

Howie was just so focused on adding speed he completely neglected everything else that makes someone a really good football player.  Not saying Reagor isn't or won't become one, but it was clear to practically everyone that JJ >>> Reagor (even before what we know now ... I'm talking about April 23, 2020).

Do you honestly believe Jefferson puts up half the stats he has now in this offense????

Doug the HC doesn't bother me nearly as much as Doug the OC (although this year he has been even struggling as a HC, just some really questionable decision-making).

Agreed.  But I did think JJ was clearly a better football player (compared to Reagor) at the time we drafted him.  Had Reagor as a mid 2nd round prospect, not mid-to-late 1st.  Most draft pundits had the same.

Doug the HC Doug the OC they have been one and the same since he got here... Neither bother me much it’s about the staff around him. And there have been questions about how much say he has on the staff. Who is on the 53, who is active on game days, if the previous two are true then you have to image he is told who has to start....Just a ton of odd things.

Id like to see Doug pass up play calling or do what AR did with him split the play calling duties call a half let the OC take the other one just anything to allow him to see more of the big picture of the team...

You can’t draft that way... I had no issues with Jefferson as the pick but just drafting a guy who you think is better right now should not be the case... Looking at Barnett.

Sure he might be the most nfl ready but how much more room does he have to grow???

As for Reagor everyone I seen had Reagor around the late 1st didn’t really draft him out of range he wasn’t as NFL ready as Jefferson and the injury didn’t help him.
