I’d rather get a guy 25 going into the prime of his career. Also not all that creative you sign the guy his cap hit is lower year 1 goes up year 2 and 3 ohhh so creative lol

Creative financing (AKA kicking the can down the road) is how Howie got the team into the position is is in today.

Draft well, suck up the dead money where needed and build a team through the draft.

To keep piling on Players salary for 22,23 & 24 will eventually catch up with us. Not an issue here anyway. He did not want to go anywhere but Pitt. Jackson will probably command more cash. So let's offer him 3 year 45 mil. Only put 7 mil against the cap this year while placing the other 38 mil in years 22 and 23. Sure that is smart lol

The dead money is sucked up at the end of this year. We have some 60+ mil over the cap next year.

If I can get a guy in his prime this year I’m fine with it. I’m fine if his cap hit spikes up to 12-13m next year it’s the going rate for CBS anyway.

My issue comes when we are kicking the can down the road with old vets ie Graham

If we doing hypotheticals what if the deal is 3 years 35m. 7m in 21 and 14 over 22-23 you mad that that price tag??? Do you know what good CBs go for???

If you think a player is good(I do with Adoree) can sign him through his prime make it happen. Let me have Adoree from 25-29

Well, you are probably right in that you can sign Free Agents for less this year due to the fact all teams are strapped due to the lower cap. Maybe you can grab a solid CB for 9- 10 mil a year. Maybe not. But the eagles have only 34 mil Cap space in 2022, not 60+ per Over the Cap and that is only with 36 players. so the real number is like 22 mil in cap space. First we need to free up cap space by cutting/ redoing contracts. That will restrict year 2022 more. Yes, I would love to sign whomever we can that can help us. But not if it is going to cost us competing in 3 years. Stay away from high salary contracts and build with the draft for a couple years as ASG suggests. Then when this team actually can go for it, sign those contracts to fill in holes...

Some interesting things on the Inside the Birds podcast this morning.

1. They think the Eagles will grab Fields if he is there, but will pass on Lance. It wouldn't surprise me to see the team trade back if Lance is there and someone wants him.

2. Apparently the team really likes Flacco. And will probably sign him.

3. There is division in the building about Hurts. And around the league he isn't considered to be very good.

4. The offense will be a west coast variant with a ton of quick throws on digs, slants and crossing routes. So the offense will look a lot different.

The Eagles action seem to indicate they aren’t sold on Hurts been saying it since we traded Wentz that we will likely get a new QB Hurtd won’t be the starter in 21. To me he seems to be our 3rd option

Not interested if they're using creative accounting to sign a FA.

I'd rather they suck up the cap issues for a year and get back on track financially

You mean like Hurts at Alabama?

Treating a college kid like a 5 year "pro"?? In college you have to PLAY to get NOTICED to get INTO the NFL. Not the same once you're already there. Not the same at all

The Draft Network updated big board.

Reid's 2021 NFL Draft Top 50 Big Board—March | The Draft Network

Lawrence is one, Pitts is two, Fields is ahead of Wilson at 5 and 7 respectively, and Lance is 23.

He has Baron Browning at 27, which seems nuts. some interesting names around where we pick in the second.

I’d prefer Wilson to fall into our lap at 6 I’m not super high on Fields. But guess there has to be intrigue on a guy with 4.4 speed and a good arm

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2021/consensus-big-board-2021     This is the composite from 26 BB's and 351 mock drafts. I will use this more of a guide than from ONE opinion and I will still hold to Carolina trading up to 4 with ATL

If my above theory is correct and you go by the composite board I posted, ATL could get Lance at 8,which is fine since he will sit behind Ryan anyway. FIelds in Carolina could be "interesting" with McCaffrey on the roster

OT- daughter starts her new job today as a store mgr for Safelite. She had alot of other offers being a mgr in retail, but chose this one(smart lady). As long as there are stones and windshields she's good to go (I kinda steered her a bit HAHA) People ordering online,so retail is not the place to be. Besides, this place is supported by the RACKET ins companies lol. This biz is not going anywhere

Interesting, but odd. It doesn't make much sense.

- If we draft Field #6 overall, Jalen Hurts becomes the backup.  You don't draft a guy #6 to sit on the bench.

- If we sign Flacco then we have Flacco, Hurts, and Fields.

- Do we carry 3 QBs?

I think it's likely that if we sign Flacco you can close the book on drafting a QB high.  It's going to be Hurts and if he struggles you'll get to see a lot of Joe Flacco.

This organization is in a tail spin. Drafting another QB at 6 will just make it fall that further behind in the rebuild process IMO..... If we have to trade up to grab any QB it will compound the issue. To get a QB worth drafting we would probably have to trade up to get one as many feel the top 3-4 will be gone before we select at 6. We don't know about Hurts yet. We may Think he will or will not perform, but no one knows for sure. Will the new system help or hurt him?

The better path is to draft Well this year, grabbing players that will help this team moving forward. If hurts stinks, then we will be in the top 10 again so move up next year and grab a QB. Meanwhile we will have something to build on hopefully. Of course BG's reasoning is sound in that the Eagles do not draft anything other than QB or Linemen in the top 10. I am hoping they can figure out that has not worked out all that well and may choose a different strategy.

We are doomed if we go QB with pick 6. As I have stated before, No QB drafted in the first round between 2009-2016 are with their original team.........

Pretty solid job.  I've used them a few times and they are outstanding.  Quick, fast, easy.  Not cheap!  Good luck to your daughter!

Best scenario for me. We play Hurts, build the team up, win 3 games so we have first pick next year and take the QB from NC who has 42TD's with ZERO picks. That is my dream lol

A LONG way off,but Howell is ranked #11 next draft(which seems insanely low),which puts us in nice shape to get him as long as we don't overdo the wins this year 🤣

I mean... Not sure that the Fo would think it hasn’t worked out well for them though looking at there past.

I mean 99 draft Mcnabb we know his success

2016 draft Wentz in a smaller degree decent success and a SB in there.

Right wrong good bad I I don’t know but I do know it’s the way Lurie has done things since owning the Eagles. Maybe he changes it up but I wouldn’t get my hopes up

SO that's it ,just stop trying?  Throw in the towel?  If so why are we fans at all? We can come back abd root for us when we are winners? Thats not a true fan. We were bad for a multitude of reaons. Maybe now we will improve on a multitude of reasons. WHY would Wilson choose CHICAGO as one of his destinations? They aren't much better than we are

Yes, put a QB in Chicago....they are better than us. It's not giving up, we can inquire about it, just don't expect it.  The idea should be Hurts or the next guy that gets drafted.   I'm not sure Wilson is the guy I want 3 years from now.   I'm not sure I follow your logic either.... on one hand you talk about the future, on the other hand you mention signing a guy to a one year deal effects your draft?    Which is it.   Win now or set it up properly for the future.     Trying to do both isn't going to work ....for either goal.

Depends on the signing duration. IF you have 12 needs and 11 picks, yeah you can fix one of those at least temporarily, so I disagree. Stopgap, Band-aids whatever you want to call them, are temporary fixes (thats why they are called that) it may not change my later picks because those are WIP's, but it sure effects the top part ,of your draft, since you can breath a little sigh of relief because out of the 11 spots you need with only 4 TOP draft picks(you know they guys that can help you right off) has been lowered to 10. By signing those S's we have kicked that down the road a year. Maybe longer is they like it here. SO, for me I can't issue a blanket statement the FA signings don;'t effect the draft. In some cases it does

Not in this case.  If a safety is the best player at 37, that's my pick.   Haven't seen one anywhere near #6.... so it doesn't effect the draft, at all.

Juju and Watson/ Wilson are a little different when it comes to contracts though.

Mmmm so Juju is different then Adoree??? That who we were talking about... Nothing to do with the QBs we could trade for who are already under contract
