Although I think bringing back foles would be disaster, HR could be trying to save face here. Trade Ertz for Foles straight up. Gaining a back up QB and ridding himself of Ertz. Basically a swap of cash I think. At least we have a back up QB. Not sure I like this idea though. We will have a bunch of uneducated fans calling for him to start week 2.

Terrible situation

Depends on the signing duration. IF you have 12 needs and 11 picks, yeah you can fix one of those at least temporarily, so I disagree. Stopgap, Band-aids whatever you want to call them, are temporary fixes (thats why they are called that) it may not change my later picks because those are WIP's, but it sure effects the top part ,of your draft, since you can breath a little sigh of relief because out of the 11 spots you need with only 4 TOP draft picks(you know they guys that can help you right off) has been lowered to 10. By signing those S's we have kicked that down the road a year. Maybe longer is they like it here. SO, for me I can't issue a blanket statement the FA signings don;'t effect the draft. In some cases it does

Wondering if Wallace fits in this defense

What would be scary for Foles is if we had last years makeshift O line. I thought I saw a cheerleader playing ROT a few snaps

That I would have noticed. That would have actually been worth watching

As in Kvon Wallace??? I’d image we can find a role for him S with coverage skills like his chances

Still think Maddox should go back to S play for McLeod(assuming he isn’t ready to start the year) best case scenario could make McLeod expendable and we can trade him stick with Madddox

The dead money is sucked up at the end of this year. We have some 60+ mil over the cap next year.

If I can get a guy in his prime this year I’m fine with it. I’m fine if his cap hit spikes up to 12-13m next year it’s the going rate for CBS anyway.

My issue comes when we are kicking the can down the road with old vets ie Graham

Graham is actually the definition of a franchise player that you could pay an extra year on. I agree with your thought. I also think Graham kind of lost it to end last season. But he’s a Philly Legend.

Not interested if they're using creative accounting to sign a FA.

I'd rather they suck up the cap issues for a year and get back on track financially

You mean like Hurts at Alabama?

Clearing the cap I’ve been preaching from the beginning. Jump on the bandwagon with me. All two of us.

Interesting, but odd. It doesn't make much sense.

- If we draft Field #6 overall, Jalen Hurts becomes the backup.  You don't draft a guy #6 to sit on the bench.

- If we sign Flacco then we have Flacco, Hurts, and Fields.

- Do we carry 3 QBs?

I think it's likely that if we sign Flacco you can close the book on drafting a QB high.  It's going to be Hurts and if he struggles you'll get to see a lot of Joe Flacco.

Flacco shouldn’t be considered. The problem with trying to start Fields over Hurts....Hurts is better right now. All the players would see you starting the lesser starter. Bad way to start as a new HC.

This is JP all over again.... We should have been letting Graham contract run out to move on from him not extending him

Lmao wow Hurts is better then fields right now that is a stretch. 52% what 10 turnovers think you are overvaluing Hurts WAY to much.

If I was grading Hurts vs this class he is at best 4th QB think 5th is more likely that with his 1 year advantage in the nfl

Wasn’t big on Barnett or Goedart. Dillard was fine but again that comes down to BPA no as I stated no issues if it’s the highest rated player on our board. Your talking something completely different now

Right...completely different than just what I originally said that Harris, specifically just Harris ...has zero impact for me.

Mmmmm we are the team that signed Bradford, signed Chase Daniels both to pretty good contracts then traded up for Wentz... Don’t think Joe impacts our decision on QB in the draft.

Enjoy the running for TDs and throwing over 300 yards. DC worst nightmare. He just needs to keep improving the fundamentals and accuracy.

Lol... how them stats working for Miller, Murray, Tua ..etc?    It will be an improvement if we can score a TD in the second half of a game.

And he has an impact for me we can leave it at that lmao clearly we won’t agree it’s fine

You pick Dillard if he was the highest ranked player within the highest group left open on your board. Who knows, he may have been the only one left..... IF there was an equally ranked player of a position of need then he would have been picked.... This is why no 2 teams have the same draft board. Even if two teams thought all players were the same value their boards would be different. Simply because those two teams have different positions of need.....

Stine,  we are past this one.  You just made my point,  no 2 teams have the same board...the final list...which is in order, not sideways.   The sideways part comes if there is a trade. Ultimately you have to pick just one player.  For this year, I hope Harris doesn't change things.

Correct.   We can disagree.  Harris means nothing long term to me.  I'm not drafting just for 2021.

Neither am I but Harris does have an impact on the player I draft in 21. As i stated from the start two guys equal I take the guy that makes the impact day 1. The future impact of i graded them equally should be the same

Correct... Maddox and Wallace... the 2 reasons not to worry about S in the draft.

I don't think he fits as a deep safety. My guess is that he is a better fit as a slot corner (in a two deep safety defense that relies on a lot of zone you need a physical slot corner) or as a sixth defensive back.

In terms of our young players, Epps, Arnold and Maddox are good fits to me as safeties, while Elijah Riley and Wallace project better as slot corners.

In reality, most of the guys on the team are better fits for a two deep zone system than a single high safety. Slay is really the only guy who isn't a great fit, which is obviously dripping with irony. Jacquet and James should be a good fit at outside corner. I think our linebackers are better fits for this defense as well.

Btw... Slay has no impact for me at CB either.  If there is a guy there I would take first, I'm still taking him.    Even if we sign Adoree.

I had safety pretty low on my list of concerns anyway.  I'm looking at the roster obviously much different than you are. I'm trying to see who we could possibly have here in 3 years.  So QB, WR, OG, S, TE... not where I would go this year.   If we started day 1 with Maddox and Wallace at S, I would be happy with that.

And I’d say slay does have an impact again we can go round and round. I agree with the concept of BPA not sure what you don’t understand on that. But to say he doesn’t have an impact on your board is the biggest BS ever lmao.
I think 1000000% there could and possibly will be a CB that is by far the highest rated guy for us possibly round 2 or 3 and we should go that route no effect but same principle as before two positions equally graded I give edge to the guy that can help me now.

Cant get any clearer than this I don’t think

I’m not taking a guy I’d clearly rate higher and putting him lower on my list because of Slay or Harris or Brooks etc. But two guys EQUAL!!!!! I take the position I think helps the team more and those guys effect that

example grades out of a 100(I’m pretty sure this isn’t how you grade players but oh well lol)

S- got a 68

CB got a 68

LB got a 68

They graded equally my final list LB is going above both CB and S(if we signed Jackson). Why LB has the best chance to help the team right away and be a future asset.

Im not taking a S I have a 75 on and selecting a 68 grade LB just because of Harris or McLeod or Wallace etc. none of them effect my grade

Yes ....you do.   The draft is al about your future, not this upcoming year for a bad team

Not buying. Every draft is about your future, why is this one any different????? we are a "bad team" because Howie can't draft to save his arse (or this team).I am NOT drafting for NOW as you keep saying, but jebus we gotta START somewhere!!!! If I don't draft for NOW,there IS no future

I would commit 100% to this youth movement,

So see you ARE drafting for NOW,for the future lol

A pretty good mock draft here.

2021 NFL mock draft: Eagles land a haul of good players | RSN (nbcsports.com)

Pitts, Stokes, Amari Rodgers and Jordan Smith (DE) are the first four picks, which all seem solid. Rodgers is a guy I like and Smith has really good bend, so he is a guy worth drafting in the third.

His fifth rounders seem unrealistic as I think they will be gone by that time. The rest seem fine. I like his developmental qb he takes in the sixth. KJ Costello had a big year at Stanford in 2018 before getting hurt the next season and then transferring to a system that didn't fit his style. He is clearly a guy worth taking a flyer on.
