Keyon Seymor had a nice night.  Much like WR, after the top 4 guys, no one at CB has really stepped up.  Seymor and Jaquett both made plays tonight but neither of them make this team better by being on the roster.  No one is claiming them either so you can get them back on the PS.  I'd like them to bring CB5 from another team.

I actually feel a little for Toth. The Cardinals kind of screwed up his development by claiming him a couple years ago. Their coaching was awful that year especially along the oline and he really would’ve benefitted more from being on the eagles practice squad and working with stoutland.

At worst, he'll be on the PS here.  I think they want him around.  Pushing him in to OG shows that they are looking to cross train him and make him a bigger asset.

I have a real concern about our back-7 depth.  I don't want to see any of the guys that played tonight during the regular season, except for may Epps.

Agreed.  It's not good, but... we already knew that.

Just saw how the game ended as a tie.  Jacquet has zero football IQ.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so.

I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous to be in a position to "take a knee" and win the game, only to subsequently screw it up. Even during the runback by Jacquet, I was yelling at him to not score. And then when they were showing the replay, I was hoping that there was some way he was actually touched when he was down.

At least the last time they had an 8-point lead going into the final play of the game, things worked out better.

QB -- Flacco looked good. Like a veteran who can come in in relief during a season and do a respectable job. Mullens looked weak-armed and inaccurate. Nah, I can't see him making the 53-man roster. If no one claims him, maybe he'd be worth it as a practice squad player. But no, he did not play well.

RB -- Obviously Sanders and Howard didn't play. Neither did Huntley, who's injured. Gainwell had a good game. Scott had a heckuva great catch and run for a touchdown. I don't think Holyfield did much of anything to stand out. He just doesn't look quick or decisive at the handoff. Once he gets rolling, he has some power but that's about it.

OL -- Dillard played well, but I admit that I tend to watch him with Dillard colored glasses. His initial quickness off the ball is great. No, his anchor didn't look fantastic, but it's not like he was getting bulldozed repeatedly, like so many fans have been led to believe. I didn't really pay attention to the others. I do know that I don't want Pryor on the team.

WR -- Reagor had one catch where he showed very good after-the-catch ability. Obviously Smith didn't play. I'm not sure Watkins played, and if he did, it wasn't much. At any rate, he didn't have any catches. Hightower made a couple of plays and looked like he was giving a real battle for a roster spot. He might just have secured it. Arcega-Whiteside had a touchdown catch, but really didn't do anything spectacular. Ward dropped a fairly routine pass which killed a drive. He also allowed a punt to hit the ground rather than come up to field it in the air. He's really good at doing that. Fulgham had one catch -- his first of the preseason, I believe -- and proceeded to fumble the ball into the endzone for a touchback. If this was a game that really mattered, this would have been a play that would led to a lot of angst in hindsight. I don't think he's going to make it.

TE -- Obviously Ertz and Goedert didn't play. Rodgers played some but didn't make any catches that I observed. Stoll had a couple catches but also dropped one very catchable ball. He's probably PS material and not a threat to make the team. Tyree Jackson remains injured and will almost certainly make the 53-man roster for a day before being placed on IR to start the season.

DL -- None of the good players played. Of the DTs, the one who flashed the most was McGill. He might even be ahead of Ridgeway. At any rate, I think those two will make the team. Not sure if there is a fifth DT deserving. Unless you want to count Milton Williams as a DT even though he's played outside exclusively in the games. Tarron Jackson probably had his best game of the preseason. He's on the bubble, but I think his draft position will be a factor in keeping him.

LB -- No Taylor (injured) or Singleton (has already secured his spot). Frankly I don't think anyone really jumped out positively. The run defense was pretty poor in general. Stevens finally got to play. I saw him make a tackle once. His draft position might give him a shot, but a lot depends on what he showed in camp prior to getting hurt and sitting out a couple of weeks. I still don't think Bradley makes the team, though I didn't see anything egregious from him.

DB -- Meh. There were wide open receivers much of the night. McPhearson picked off a pass on a 2-point conversion. Jacquet recovered a fumble at the end of the game and scored a touchdown which prevented the Eagles from just taking a knee to clinch it. Instead they had to kick off with an 8-point lead and proceeded to allow the Jets to tie it.

P/K -- Elliott made all his kicks. Siposs kicked off. He kicked off well "for a punter" but not as well as Elliott routinely does. His punting was pretty good, although not great. A couple of his punts looked a bit short.

Overall there were things you wanted to see. Flacco, Dillard, Gainwell. Scott. I would list them as positives. Maybe Hightower. Maybe.

It's unbearable having to listen to interviews during live action. I always mute the TV anytime Spadaro comes on. Ugh.

The Jets pretty much stayed away from targeting McPhearson.

It's really annoying to me too. I also really don't like it when the camera starts to look at the sidelines for awhile or even show the broadcasters. Little nitpicks of mine but they actually bothers me

My take from 2021 preseason/TC is the Eagles lack of depth will be their biggest problem.

We have no one who can step in if and when needed at any position. TE is probably the deepest position we have. Any injury at QB RB WR OL DL LB or DB and it’s a big time hole.

Maybe that’s why Sirianni took it easy on the starters during TC/Preseason.

If we lose the Atlanta game, it’s going to be because Hurts and the offense put up a dud. No way our D gives up more than 21 points against Matt Ryan and that putrid offensive line. They’re gonna be in his face every play.

Your analysis is always appreciated. Thanks for taking the time.

So This got me thinking. How prepared are the starters going into the season? Nick Sirianni says practice is like playing in game when asked why he didn’t play starters.

Interesting stat thrown out by Seth Joyner in the video

Yet every single former and current player says the same thing "playing in games is different than playing in practice”.

Doesn't matter. Now how did they did in practice is what we really should be looking at...

The dumbsheets should have drafted Brandon Echols like I mentioned in "I Want the Eagle to Get".

The Jets HC said he's vying for a CB1 position, dude didn't go until the 6th round.

Everyone says the draft is a crap shoot and it's not, you just have to know what you're looking for and be able to recognize it when you see it.

Dane Brugler just dropped his early top 50 prospects for next draft class, was a very heavy secondary list. Lots of corners and safety’s. He had Stingley as his number 1 rated  player, followed by the Oregon DE & then the safety from Notre Dame as his top 3.

And with Howie at the helm, you just know we don't even look at them until round 3.

It's bad.  Andrew Adams is a disappointment.  I know he didn't play tonight but I see no reason to keep K'Vonn Wallace on the team either.  He really hasn't flashed at all and is too one-dimensional.  The rest of the DB are JAG after JAG after JAG.  The only advantage they have over any street CB/S or potential claim is their knowledge of the current playbook.

Antony Harris, Steve Nelson and Darius Slay will be OK.  Maddox SHOULD be OK in the slot but I think he still needs to compete and should have played.  Epps should be the starter next to Harris and S3 once McCleod is back but we have no idea how he's even going to look and when.  McPhearson has shown some ability but also shown his limitations.

I've said it a few times now.  I'd be more than happy with at least 6 claims come roster cuts.  Bring me CB5 and after last night 2 safeties.

I want to get excited about the 1st round next year.  IF Carson plays and the Eagles get a 3rd 1st, they could come away from round 1 with either 2 starting CB and a starting DE or even a QB of the future, CB1 and DE1.  I still have next to no faith in Howie though.

Admittedly, I did not watch the 2nd half...  but, guys from the 1st half that I thought played well were: first, obviously Gainwell - that looks like a really nice draft pick... I thought Andre Dillard played very well - he's pretty nimble for a big guy, if they can improve his anchor some, more the better... that was a very nice performance by Joe Flacco - he plays like that you may have the best back-up QB in the league... T. Y. McGill looked very good - he should make the roster... Shaun Bradley looked quite good, though he's prob headed for the PS...  Josiah Scott, Marlon Tuipulotu, Tarron Jackson, Jason Huntley prob PS bound too...

Given that this team was being revamped over the off-season, it's really no surprise at all that depth will be an issue... prob the reason Sirianni was so careful with his starters...  I don't agree with not getting Hurts more reps, but I can see the logic elsewhere in the line-up...

But no, he did not play well. Mullens had better numbers than the previous 2 games but looks weak armed and I want someone with more upside on the PS.

I don't think Holyfield did much of anything to stand out. He just doesn't look quick or decisive at the handoff. Once he gets rolling, he has some power but that's about it. Gainwell looks steady but I was hoping for 1 big flash play from him rather than just 5 yards here, 5 there.  Is he a big play threat?  Holyfield did nothing impressive.  I wouldn't even keep him on the PS.  Lots of RB talent is going to be out there.  Bring in new a new face.

If this was a game that really mattered, this would have been a play that would led to a lot of angst in hindsight. I don't think he's going to make it.  I've been vocal about this.  After the top 4 WR (Ward is eh but steady), I'm claiming 2 WR after cutdowns.  JJAW has had his chances and good for him at the TD.  Doesn't help the fact that he sucks.  Fulgham hasn't done a damn thing.  I was pulling for him but he just looked totally uninterested to be out there.  Hightower, for a speed guy, didn't show much of any, JAG.  Patton could be a PS guy.

Stoll was getting some hype before the game and then came out with the drop.  He didn't do much that tells me he deserves a spot on the roster.

DL -- None of the good players played. Of the DTs, the one who flashed the most was McGill. He might even be ahead of Ridgeway. At any rate, I think those two will make the team. Tarron Jackson probably had his best game of the preseason. He's on the bubble, but I think his draft position will be a factor in keeping him.  Jackson by far had his best game.  What impressed me was his get off.  He was quick off the snap of the ball.  Too little too late to make the team but something to develop on the PS.  McGill has been pretty dominant when out there.  He's my DT3.  I'm considering Williams DE5.

Patrick Johnson looked OK, I think he's a steady player.  Stevens didn't stand out at all.  Bradley always seemed to be a step behind but in the right place.  None of the LB stood out but someone has to make the tackles right?

McPhearson has some ability and should be a good depth corner.  Epps is a solid role player.  The rest of the CB and DB.  JAGs all around.  Yuck

P/K -- Elliott made all his kicks. Siposs kicked off. He kicked off well "for a punter" but not as well as Elliott routinely does. His punting was pretty good, although not great. A couple of his punts looked a bit short.  Yep

Good breakdown.  My thoughts in bold.  I came away from this game and this pre-season very unimpressed.  I use the word "flashed" a lot when talking about players.  That's what you want in the pre-season...a guy to flash and show you some potential.  Milton Williams flashed some very impressive ability.  Tyree Jackson, before injury, flashed mismatch ability.  Quez Watkins flashed big time speed.  DeVonta Smith flashed with next level route running.  Harris flashed some big hitting at safety.

No one else on this roster jumped out and makes me say, wow that guy has potential to be a player. This roster is still full of JAGs.  You could bring in 7 new linebackers tomorrow and have the same results.  Same with the reserve DB and backup WR.  The last pre-season game is full of young guys fighting for their life.  I didn't see anyone out there looking like they were playing to keep their career going.  It was just a football game.  Usually after the last game there are guys I know are on the bubble that I really want to keep on the team.  There are none this year.  This team is not deep at all and has a severe lack in talent.

I came away from these 3 games with  just a numb feeling towards this team.
