Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

So more void years and the start on ruining 2022 cap? Lol

The start?   He was already dipping in for $25M before this.  He's got $49M dead this year... he's half way there for next year already.   Great job Howie.

Why would they? There's plenty of time for Wentz to heal and get to play

It’s pretty odd that folks react to the 1st ending up being a 2nd is cause for jumping out a window, yet nobody flinched when Howie burned that 3rd round pick altogether to move up #12 to 10 to draft DeVonta Smith.

He's going to tell them he will be ready in 5 to 12 days.

That’s not true manu and I both said they should’ve traded back with the bears and got pick 20 and a 2022 first instead of what they did.

They are not cutting Gainwell.

He's a 5th round pick who only played one year of college football when he was 19 and hasn't played in 2 years.  While I agree, he most likely isn't getting cut, I don't think he's a 100% lock.

What veteran are we going to burn a 3rd/4th round pick on at the deadline because the Eagles are 3-5 and only 1 game out of the division lead?

Deshaun watson but likely more than those picks

Yea but there will be another one that makes no sense and is just for the sake of making a trade. I'm going with Juju.

Minshew would just be a smart move regardless.

Gainwell isn't getting cut.  You don't forget how to run after being out a year.  If anything, its less wear and tear.

Pushing more money into 2022 because of Barnett for the sake of 2021 is typical Howie.  This team isn’t winning ish this year.  And won’t next year if he is still around.

He wants to keep Ertz and Cox. Lane’s restructure takes money from 2023 or 2024 and moves it to 2022. Barnett’s restructure gives us roll over money to 2022, it’s the same money. So the hit we take will be the same. It just gives us flexibility this year and we will end up having more cap in 2022 because of lane.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't

Yes but Lane’s restructure is an insurance policy for Barnett and mostly likely will give us more money in 2022 with the expense of 2023/2024. We needed flexibility this year and next year and we got it. If you want to complain about 2023/2024 then go for it. But to say we took money from 2022 is wrong.

Gainwell would have to be as inept as Pumphrey to be cut and that doesn't sound like the case here.

They cut Nate Gerry his first year and he was a fifth round choice like Gainwell.  May depend on whether they think he sneaks through waivers. Huntley was a fifth round choice of the Lions. He didn’t make their squad because they thought he would make it to the PS.  Plenty of people on this board and in the media don’t project John Hightower, last year’s fifth round choice to make the 53.  Howie used a sixth on Tarron Jackson and a seventh on Patrick Johnson and most early 53 predictions have neither making the 53.  Heck, I have also seen 53s that don’t include the NT they drafted in the sixth (I promise I will learn to spell his name if he makes the team.). Day three guys have no more guarantees than priority UDFAs.  And as a third year second rounder, cost/benefit analysis does not support him sticking unless he can produce on offense, and if not starting, on STs.

Restructured but not extended Barnett?

Well, let’s look at this from a future perspective. Eagles are #6 on the waiver wire to start the season.Would not be surprised to see the roster churn all year.  So if at cut downs the Eagles have $ to pick up solid players that might have more than a year on their contract, is that a bad thing.  Because of the new TV contract, the money grows in 2023 when they have a chance to be competitive again.  I find every time I worry about the cap impact, some move is made to change that view.  Like the Federal deficit, when the bills come due, I probably won’t be around.

That’s because they are seeking out Flacco.  The other three cost too much.
