Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

I agree with you. I do NOT want to use this year's cap space. A couple of things do help us though

1) Watson's contract now easily fits under the cap, if we got a great deal on that. I'm not saying we should do that, but that option is now available.
2) Makes it easier to trade Zach Ertz. Teams can't bluff us thinking we must cut him to get under the cap.

Hard pass all around.

Optionality purposes this year, which is a year that frankly, they will not be able to compete anyway.   Great idea.  Get options for a meaningless season, and limit them for the future.

The money rolls over. If we don’t use it then it takes care of Barnett’s dead cap hit. Its just so we have flexibility this year. If they extend him there won’t be a dead cap hit. Lane’s restructure actually adds money to 2022. We GAINED money for 2022 as of right now.

They don't need flexibility for this year.   This year is the poison pill year that Howie created in previous bad contract dealings.  Take your lumps and bite the bullet.  Don't try to soften and limit future dealings.

Howie needs to go before he makes it worse.

Huntley is playing with the 3s and no contact. Reminds me of the RB uberwonder OTAs about a decade ago until the pads went on and the defense were knocking him over just by touching him. Last year, there were comments from open practices that the defense enjoyed knocking Huntley over.

We'll see soon enough as pads are on

Not all of them did book a second appointment.

The issue wasn't Lamb.  The issue was having Jefferson land in their laps without needing to maneuver a bit, and Howie flubbed it.  Completely flubbed it.  And he wouldn't have had to overpay to do it (like with Lamb).   And because Howie didn't take Jefferson when he was sitting there for the taking, he was forced into making the pick for Smith.  If they had Jefferson, they could have taken the extra trade down option and not have been in a bad WR position.

In the world of economics there is compound interest.  In the case of Howie and the NFL, there are compound mistakes.  No mistake sits isolated, instead they add up to be worth more collectively than merely the sum of those blunders.

Add in the JJAW insanity. Howie really is a failure.

I liked kerryon a lot when he was drafted. Played well his rookie year. Then injuries began piling up and he had to play with the lions and Matt Patricia which i can’t imagine helping his cause. Then they added swift. I actually think he has the talent to be a really good no. 2 back and if sanders misses a week or two he a solid starter over that time. He also has the potential to keep getting injured.

I really liked him coming out as well, and since, injuries have really slowed him.

Who knows maybe he's got something left but last year he looked spent to me

Yes we do. They are trying to extend Goedert, we still have 52 and 53 hitting the cap, and we need extra cap in case of injuries.

Quite a few did, one booked 4 appointments, including 2 in her own home, after he exposed himself, and made her handle it.

This woman is part of the lawsuit? IMO, that’s kind of ridiculous. If you invite someone into your home following an encounter it means you didn’t have a major issue with the encounter.

Before anyone uses this obvious statement to create logic fallacies and talk nonsense, I also believe what he did was extraordinarily wrong. The women who went into the situation not knowing what was about to happen are entitled to justice.

Maybe, maybe not. If they don’t use the cap room saved restructuring Barnett it simply carries over to next year. No harm, no foul.

You seem to be so anti-Howie that you aren’t seeing the move very clearly.

I’m with you. Hard pass. It’s not even about the compensation. Some things have to be more important than extra yards and touchdowns.

Extending Goedert doesn't have to cost money this year... I've pointed out the issue with the 'top 51' rule in the past with Howie's mismanagement, and they do not need to bring in expensive players in case of injury.  On the contrary, if this team gets injured their low win total just gets lower and you get the higher draft pick.  Don't spend more future capital to hurt your future assets.  But, Howie had $5M available, if he'd just have been more realistic on Ertz's market.  He could free up $8.5M doing it now, but he wants to not lose face on the Ertz deal, so he'll hurt future years to do it.  Wrong play, Howie.  Suck it up, move on from Ertz and none of this was necessary.   They don't need more than that $8.5M to have flexibility.

No, I am seeing it clearly.  Howie will use this extra room.  Just wait for it.   He already spent some money for 2021 and 2022 for Nelson for a one year deal, and all we hear about with him is he's getting torched in training camp for long TDs.  First Smith, which could be a good sign... and then Watkins, which is a less positive sign for Nelson actually being a worthwhile pickup.

Now you’re overreacting to training camp reports too?

hes right. you are completely jaded on every post you make about Howie. He could get Watson here for a small fry from McDonalds and you will complain about the cap implications of the deal.

I was against the move for Nelson, too.   Call it confirmation bias, but we can have the guys we already had on the roster getting burnt.   And as with BigE, I have high hopes for McPhearson.  I'd rather go with him than Nelson.

I am jaded about Howie being here.  No doubt.  He should have been fired along with Doug.  But, Lurie keeps giving him chance after chance after chance no matter how much he screws up.  And, he continues to make moves to cost the team's future for year that has no hope.  He needed to take all the lumps for 2021 and leave 2022 alone for as much as he could.

As for Watson... no thanks.  I don't want a guy with this much swirling around him.  I doubt this is all true, but if even half of it is true, or even a quarter, that's not the guy I want as the face of this franchise, at any cost... small fry, complementary toy that comes with the purchase of a Happy Meal, none of it.
