Or the play was for the pass to be outside and the RB run under it.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

It was Hurts to Sanders... so let's hope they work that out, or it will be an ugly ugly year.  That's a 'gimme' play.  Can't afford to miss on those.

But you noticed on the next pass, Scott adjusts to the ball to catch it in stride.  Contrast that to Gainwell, whose adjustment is to turn his body with his back to the line of scrimmage.  You want that side step, slight that it was, that Scott made.

I think the throw to Boobie was meant to be over the shoulder, which Boobie likes but Hurts went outside shoulder and Boobie looked inside shoulder.  Fixable.  Note the shout "two hands”. Teaching moment for both players.

Not a cap guy but how does borrowing from 2022 just to let money roll over into 2022 help?

Flexibility. You have it available now, but if you can't find a good use, then roll it over to the next season.

It was a better throw for Scott as well.

The issue wasn't Lamb.  The issue was having Jefferson land in their laps without needing to maneuver a bit, and Howie flubbed it.  Completely flubbed it.  And he wouldn't have had to overpay to do it (like with Lamb).   And because Howie didn't take Jefferson when he was sitting there for the taking, he was forced into making the pick for Smith.  If they had Jefferson, they could have taken the extra trade down option and not have been in a bad WR position.

In the world of economics there is compound interest.  In the case of Howie and the NFL, there are compound mistakes.  No mistake sits isolated, instead they add up to be worth more collectively than merely the sum of those blunders.

For sure, I agree with you 100% here.  I just meant in the sense that Lamb was THE GUY I wanted last year.  I thought he was the sure thing.  I don't think anyone thought JJ would be as good as he was...good, but not THAT good.

Had he been able to get either one of Lamb or JJ then we wouldn't have had to draft Smith this year.  Heck, if you want to believe the reporting from Reuben Frank, he is claiming that even if he plays at his best, Reagor won't be as good as Travis Fulgham.  If that's the case, what a disaster pick.

Either way, Howie made mistake after mistake when it comes to drafting.

but, as we discussed yesterday, doesnt matter if you have a 4'11'' 87lb QB because size and weight means nothing when it comes to getting hurt

I know their listed measurables are similar, that's why I said "look". He looks like a fan sat at the table for a picture.

Not really.   The reporters make a lot of assumptions just like we do watching games.  We don’t know what was called and we don’t know what they are working on.  Sometimes in the one on one DL/OL drills, the call is for the D and sometimes for the O.  Same in 7 on 7 and 11 on 11. But the reporters and we see it like we are watching a game.  It’s like the other day in one on ones.  The reporter concluded that Mailata won the contest but then Mailata got shouted at about hands from Stoutland.  He assumed that in addition to winning, Mailata still had things to work on.  What if the whole design and point of that contest was on hand placement?  We just don’t know.  From PeeWee to the pros, drills are meant to instill muscle memory and develop weaknesses to strengths.  What we interpret from the visuals from the drills may not be accurate.

I thought he was the best of the group last year, but he surprised me as well.

BLG and Kempski have both attacked Dillard all offseason so I take what they say with a bit of skepticism.

Reuben Frank has said the same.  I think it's time to say OK, Mailata you're LT1.

Dillard, you need to cross train to be the swing tackle.

Don't give me hope...

I keep saying this but we're DUE for some young players to step up.

Maybe JUST maybe, McPhearson can develop in to a starting CB.

Maybe, Tyree Jackson can be a weapon at TE.

Let's hold out some hope man!

I said I thought that Jefferson was the second best WR in the draft after Jeudy, who was out of reach.  I had Lamb as third.  I will be honest, Lamb has performed better than I expected.

But even if they drafted Jefferson last year, I think Smith would have been the pick with the first two corners gone and the third just having back surgery.

Both need to cross train.  Patrick Robinson.  Looked awful in PS, key part of Super Bowl defense.  Let the battle continue.

The move was to trade back with the Bears... even having not drafted Jefferson, the best move was still to move back and take the Bears' deal.

Not sure I agree.  I like Toney but he is nowhere near Smith as a WR. Hate the idea of Smith as a giant.

Some combination of Sweat, Smith, Jackson McPherson, Mailata, and Taylor breaks out and we're a lot closer to being competitive than anyone expected.

I'll believe it when I see it though.

Who said that they would take Toney after the trade back?
