If they took Jefferson last year, do you think they would have still traded up for Smith?

Yes.  His hands are generationally good.

Who said that they would take Toney after the trade back?

Good point.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Yet his knee is proving to be totally average...I kid, hopefully it was a freak injury and he moves on healthy.

Makes me wonder though.  Should the Eagles consider installing Field Turf at the NC Complex?  I'm a natural grass guy all the way but the Eagles just seem to have so many silly little injuries at practice.

In the trade back scenario, the targets would have likely been:  Kwity Paye, Christian Darrisaw, and Caleb Farley.  Outside chance for Greg Newsome or Greg Rousseau.

It’s contagious. They need to wear foot masks.

The move was to trade back with the Bears... even having not drafted Jefferson, the best move was still to move back and take the Bears' deal.

So you are saying trade up with the Cowboys and then immediately trade back with the Bears?

Yes.  That's what I would have done.  Or... just make it a 3-way trade.   But, the reality is that the extra gain of the 1st from the Bears was worth the move back that far.  The Bears are likely to have a top 5, and no worse than a top 10 pick.  That's worth an unconventional move.

Maybe Wentz took the injury bug and brought it right with him?

Hope dies last..

Literally anyone else based off these reports. But BigEFly did make a good point that I didn't catch on about BLG and Kempski attacking him all camp.

Kempski's been after him for years and by all accounts BLG is a dolt. Doesn't mean they're wrong, though. Roob is saying much the same things and he's not much of an axe-grinder.

Both need to cross train.  Patrick Robinson.  Looked awful in PS, key part of Super Bowl defense.  Let the battle continue.

Camp just began too. No reason to name a starter now

That's horrible. Nelson is their best player.

Don't need to name a starter but it's better to know who runs with the 1s and such sooner than later to build that chemistry and all.

This is why I want LT to be determined ASAP.  Let that left side of the line gel and become a unit.  Same goes for DB.  The back 4/5 need to operate as  a complete unit and understand how they all feed off each other.

The 2 most important units that need to gel are OL and DB.

Wentz goes to the Colts and now they get a billion injuries. Was it never the Eagles medical staff and was Wentz just cursed all along?

Its still early. TC has basically just started.  We'll see where we stand on the injuries when week 1 gets here.

I think that would be the first of its kind DURING THE DRAFT.  I get the value analysis.  But I really don't think it was mechanically possible.

Our first round draft pick just got injured.

Criticizing Dillard is a way for these guys to continue to criticize Howie, by proxy.  Not that most of it isn't warranted.

Also, Dillard doesn't have to suck for Mailata to be really good and win the job.

MCL only

I actually think it would’ve been a corner like newsome or DL paye

"day by day" = months later here

Not with Wentz gone 😉

You don't think that the Bears offer would have been there?  I believe it was.  And after the trade, the Eagles get 10 more minutes added again.

Maybe it would have been a first, but just because something hasn't been done before doesn't mean it can't... nor that it shouldn't.  High risk?  Sure.  Unorthodox?  Sure.  Impossible?  Hardly.  And if Howie is this great wheeler dealer... then he could have made it happen.  This was a move for the Bears to ensure they got the QB they coveted.  They were motivated buyers.  You can get a deal done quickly when both sides want to get a deal done.

Of course.  Paye, Newsome, Darrisaw, maybe even Farley if they felt good about his injury (personally, no thanks on that well).

I believe, maybe as an unwritten rule, that once you trade for a pick *while that pick is on the clock* , you are expected to use that pick and not attempt to flip it.

Then why reset the clock when the trade is made?  Just turn in the name with the trade card.

Nah, while it may not be done or perhaps ever been done, doesn't mean it can't be done.
