I'm still shocked Edge got in, idk if I ever watched him and thought "oh yea, that's a HOF running back"

I honestly don't know what you were watching then, because that guy was great almost from Day One.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

It was Dillard with the 1s today right? Looks like Mailata has it.

I bet Howie keeps pushing this competition that shouldn't even be anymore at this point.

The problem with Edgerrin James is he was overshadowed on his own team with Manning and Harrison, and he also had to share the spotlight with LT and for a few years guys like Priest Holmes at RB.

Also Terrell Davis is in the HOF. So the bar goes lower than James.

Wait.  You’re kidding right?   Edge James is a HOFmer?   What?!?

Really? That tells me you didn’t watch football. He had at least 3 years, maybe 4 over 1500 yards. And he killed it with arizona too. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. 13th of all time in rushing yards and you’re questioning him?

Yep, not sure why it's even a competition anymore.  Dillard is getting straight up abused every time he's out there.  He can't even cross train like Herbig or Driscoll.

And yet a few people here think he can be traded for a draft pick.  He is the Fireman reincarnated.

What makes Edge a HoFer to me is the fact that he's 13th in rushing yards and did so in an impressive way. Take a guy like Bettis, for example. He only has about 1400 more rushing yards than James, but he also played in 44 more games than Edge.

💯

If there’s anytime for him to actually look good it would be in practice. He’s been off and on

This is no surprise.  "Off and on" is his style.  We saw it last year and most likely will see it again this year.

When Hurts does well in practice then all we hear is "it’s just practice”.

When he plays bad in practice now it’s a big deal.

He’s our QB this year, so let’s see how he does when games start.

Obviously it's expected to do better when it's not live now c'mon man. That said he's going to have bad days. We'll see

That actually is pretty impressive.

He is 13th all time in yards with a Super Bowl.

Yea, I don't see him as a HOF player at all.  We're reaching a point where we're going to see players are getting in seemingly based on name.

Bettis made the HOF somehow.

EdJ was what Manning needed to get over the playoff woes that plagued his career.

The whole offense struggled yesterday, not just Hurts.  But with install complete, they are probably at the point where their heads are swimming a bit.  Also, the reporters never know what is being called.  For example, was it a defense oriented play where the play called was known to the defense because it was specifically called for the defense to work on that sort of thing.

I watched the first thirty minutes or so of practice on fluff with Dave and Fran, and got in my daily STFU comment to Dave to let Fran speak (maybe with some success because Dave, who had been droning actually let Fran speak for a little bit).  During that thirty minutes, which are warmups and individual drills, I thought the throws from Hurts looked pretty good.  It was obvious they were working on legs and placing the ball in front of the receiver.  The kind of YAC ball some QBs like Carson and other laser ball QBs struggle with and makes Brady a GOAT despite not having ideal arm strength.  Brees was pretty good at it and Peyton was at times but no one is as good at it as Brady at this point.

McLane had an article about Jackson’s work toward becoming a TE and what caught my eye was a comment from Mullens about Jackson being good at sticking his cuts that allowed the QB to anticipate the throw.  While the article was focused on Jackson learning route running, I suspect that what Mullens mentioned is something that the coaches are focused on at this time.   Probably with the QBs but also with the skill positions.  I saw TEs and RBs during the 30 minute window.  Now if that was a focus for the offense, that’s timing, familiarity with the receiver, hand catching and trust the ball will be there.  Offense may have looked much different knowing what their focus was.

BTW. Kempski, no lover of Hurts, admitted that Hurts had been "sacked” already on the interception so this was a play through. Mullens was on a busted play.  Context sometimes matters.

Which is sad, because Manning's legacy might be a lot different if it wasn't for James.

I said it above, I think the low bar is Bettis...when you let a guy with a sub 4 ypc in, that's sad.

Will the whole practice be aired for those who can’t make it tonight

I didn't think Bettis deserved the HOF either.

Soon enough the conversation about Shady being HOF worthy are going to come up, which I don't think he is.  He has those 2 SB rings now despite not playing a single down which amazes me.

Bettis averaged 3.8 yards per carry or less is 9 of his 13 seasons. Him making the HoF was a joke.

If he’s in, no reason to keep Shady out.

Was a feature back once in those 13 seasons IIRC too, him getting in was a joke.  Almost as much of a joke as the SB they were gifted by the NFL and the refs so him and Cowher could retire with a ring.

This might be an incendiary comment, but I disagree with Troy P being a first ballot HOFr.  Sure he's iconic and provided some amazing sports center clips.  He was one of the faces of the NFL (still kind of is).  My issue was he was injured a lot, and not shown on those sports centers clips was his lack of discipline on the field and being a liability at times due to his freelancing.

Whoa. He’s going to get per year what the Eagles spend on the entire unit over 3 years

Yeah I have no problem with edgerrin getting in when guys like Bettis and Czsonka are in

Nothing against either if those guys both were good and neither would get my vote for the hall but here we are.

If bettis got in then why not Corey Dillon, Ricky watters, fred Taylor???

None of which I think are HOF backs.

Will be interesting to see what the voters do with Frank gore.

He's 3rd all time in rush yards. Yet it's taken him almost 100 more games to pass Barry Sanders, in his 241 games played he only has 81 rush tds and only one season of 1500 rush yards or more, his 2nd season where he had 1600+

I don't think he's a HOF back but I'd guess they'll put him in.

Yup Troy Polomolu got in on name recognition and team recognition, he played at USC then for the Steelers

Dude was hurt all the time and when one looks at his actual career numbers they pale in comparison to his HOF counterparts.

Good dude fun to watch made a lot of high light plays, and over hyped

If Bettis didn't play for the steelers I don't think he would have made it.

You can try on the Eagles App or Twitter. It will not be broadcast ed on Philly sportnet.

If not, you wont miss much. I figured I wasnt wasting my time going tonight since We have a home game on Thurs. Not much will change from tonight til then.

Hell if they start shutting down the stadium to fans again these preseason games might be my only time in stadium. Really hope it doesnt come to that again. Only 3 games at the Linc last year was brutal. Need my fix.

IDK, he looked really nice when he played for the Rams his first few years.

Great at his position, but no way in hell would I ever give him this contract. Sheesh.
