How about a couple of HOF QBs, Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner?  Nick Foles.  Tom Brady in 2000.  Aaron Rodgers riding the pine but let’s look at 2005 and 2006.  Eli Manning 2004 and 2005. Patrick Mahommes mostly riding the pine in 2017.  Drew Brees his first three years in San Diego?  Other than Patrick Wilson, not a bunch of QBs that really impressed.  But some of those guys went high in the draft to bad teams.  Were the Eagles a good team last year?  You are remembering the QBs after they ascended but not the trip up.  

Look, as I have said and even AFan has said, there are parts to Hurts’ play that concern us.  He may flop.  He may succeed.  We will see this year.  But like drafting Mahommes with Smith signed to an extension, Rodgers with Favre still playing well, etc., nothing should ever discourage a team with the QB from trying to draft a better option.  

I am against a Watson trade because we need those picks for other positions and I don’t think the Eagles are close so at best we waste three years on a cap strapping Watson contract trying to rebuild with less assets to do so.  

Lol no. Outside of Wilson they weren't one trick ponies and he showed his rookie year he could throw the ball.

He is, but if Lillard becomes available, no team is better equipped to trade for him than the Sixers. But that's relying on someone else's decision, which makes them kind of helpless.

To his credit though, even though he's overrated, he's still good. His mistake was passing on Harden, which is what happened. Don't listen to the fake news that Houston refused to trade him to Philly. It was just a horrendous mistake on many levels. But he did inherit a mess, and other than that trade or Lillard, these are really the only options available with what he inherited when he took over.

Did they not practice again today? I know they are trying to stay healthy but this practice schedule doesn’t seem conducive to winning

It all started with no OTA's.  They could have spent OTA's getting the offense installed rather than the first 8 practices being used to do that.  I know some install is important during TC but I still firmly believe that no OTA's was a huge mistake for a team with a brand new coaching staff, a new starting QB and a new backup QB.  People can argue not much happens at OTA's but it's still important.

The Sunday night practice was around 2 hours and that was the longest they've had by a long shot.  We keep hearing about classroom work and being in meetings but there's something about being on the field and yes, even tackling to the ground that you can't replicate.

I think training camp "he looks good, he looks bad” tweets from the media and snippets from the coaches are completely useless.  Don’t get me wrong…totally worth it for us to discuss and tear to shreds in a feeding frenzy for information.  But useless nonetheless.

What I do think is useful in training camp (for our information), maybe the only thing, is when we learn about the discrepancy between what WE think about players and what the coaches think about players. 
 

When a WR we thought was a deep backup is running with the 1s all week and getting targets, that’s information.

The Dillard/Mailata battle…obviously the coaches think that’s closer than the fans and media do.  
 

Forget that Sweat has looked good, it’s more useful to know that he’s running with the 1s over Barnett.  That’s a change of the guard at a premium position on defense.

It’s not reasonable to assume Cox and Graham will be as good as in past years.  Not sure what Kerrigan has left, if anything.  It would be great if Milton Williams and Josh Sweat made meaningful contributions but not a given.  The LB corps might be average

I think we had much different expectations. IMO, they were objectively bottom 5 in the league. Now they have an actual chance to be very competitive. I think that was the point of the article.

Has nothing to do with what the coaches to think and everything to do with Howie spending a 1st and two other picks on Dillard so he's going to forced into the competition as long as they can hoping he can justify inevitably being named the starter.
