If the Eagles cut Dick Rod while holding on to Ertz and Jackson and someone then claims him. It might make Howie hesitant to pull any trigger on an Ertz trade. DG, Dick Rod, Jackson is much better than say DG, Jackson and Stoll. No matter what, I think you have to keep Jackson on the team. This isn't a reaction from 1 catch tonight. Cut September 2019, sat around until December 2019. Cut September 2020, Eagles signed him back. Sat around until June 2021, Eagles brought him back. I don’t see a big demand for him out there. Plus he’s almost 30, keeping a high upside guy like Jackson whose only 23 is worth the risk of missing out on one year of Dick Rod.

August 13, 20214 yr I will say...one preseason play or not...Quez Watkins accelerated in a way that I've seen from very few players in the NFL. Desean Jackson and Tyreek Hill obviously come to mind. Even the younger speed demons like Ruggs and Hollywood Brown haven't shown quite those kind of wheels since entering the NFL.

Most just said that he played better than they expected, like myself. I was expecting the offense to look real bad with hurts, it wasn’t, thus he played better than expectations.

And doing it in preseason is weak as hell. Slippery slope. You want flags for all celebrations again? Epps is the Nate Gerry of the secondary

His throws to Ertz up the middle were on point. My argument is that we are forcing a square peg through a round hole here. He's not a high end passer, never has been, and never will be. He's just never going to be as precise, prolific, or accurate as most NFL qb's. It's always going to be more runs, fewer reads, fewer weapons hit in stride in space. That's not his game. He lowered his head to run on 3rd and 5 before the pocket collapsed, generating a 3 yard gain. That's not good. The Watkins miss obviously isn't what we want to see, but it's one miss, so fine. He's going to make some good throws with his first read when he stays on script, and he's just going to be an erratic run first qb when the circumstances require that he deviate from it. The small exposure tonight continues to support that, as do 4 games last year, as does his college career.

It's one of the most annoying new trends in football yet they want to be tougher on taunting which includes spinning the football in the direction of your opponent. Sorry, 11 guys running the entire length of the field to pose is a lot worst and worthy of a penalty.

August 13, 20214 yr The offense should be able to close line the defense when they get a turnover and the the team is down 24 in the second half, and they do that stupid celebration.

One of these things makes someone sit through a 5 second revenue generating advertisement to see the highlight and celebration, one does not. That's the primary difference.

With the exception of Sanders, we got every single one of these guys for either nothing, or close to it. No need to stash anyone. Keep who we plan on using for the year, and release everyone else into the wild so we can repeat the cycle of small investments in the position next year. I'm not sure we need to go with 5. I agree with you here but it's more of they don't have value to other teams. They do offer value to the Eagles because none of them are complete backs so we need multiple guys to fill different roles.
August 13, 20214 yr It’s not even the 4th yet. These are what, 2nd stringers with some 3rd mixed in? Yikes.

Over the years, our best offenses have always featured deep and diverse skill sets at RB, often without a true franchise back.
