Zaven Collins with a nice TFL.  Rondale Moore already involved and looking quick on WR screen

It's going to be interesting watching rookie WR and how they compare to Smith.  I still think trading up with a division rival was a mistake.  I hate giving Dallas an extra pick while they still get their guy in Parsons. I like the road the Giants took better in trading down with the Bears.

IMO, a combo of an extra 1st along with a 2nd tier WR like Rashod Bateman/Rondale Moore/Elijah Moore while keeping the 3rd you gave Dallas would have benefited this team more than Smith.  I could be wrong.  Smith could be everything he was at Bama in the NFL.  Giving Howie more picks might not be the best with his track record but the more picks he has the better chance to hit.

I also loved Collins.  He went much higher than I thought he would to the Cardinals so nothing you can do about that.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

You don't want to know.

- Hurts went 3-7 against the Steelers.  All passes caught by TE.  Drops by Ertz and Reagor and barley missed Watkins for 98 yard TD.  Ran for 3 yards and dove head first.  Continuing arguments as to whether the looked good or bad and if that's a positive game for him.  It's been heated.  IMO, it was a performance that was nothing to get excited about but also wasn't the end of the world.  I thought to myself meh.  It was only 2 drives.  Need to see more.  He had a beauty of a pass to DG.

-Quez Watkins looked good.  79 yard TD on a WR screen from Flacco.  Caught the ball and exploded through a hole.  Great blocking by Dick Rod and Reagor (questionable hold).  Should have had 98 yard TD but Hurts JUST missed by about a foot.

-Only ran the ball 11 times.  Jordan Howards highlight was pass blocking.  They call Kenny Gainwell Kenny G.  Huntley looked fast on a play called back.

-Reagor ran some great routes and had a few catches.  Dropped a ball from Hurts that was a bad pass and a tough catch.  He should make the catch but Hurts should make a better throw.

-JJAW played in to the 4th with no catches.

-TE room is loaded.  Tyree Jackson looks legit.

-Milton Williams is going to be fun to watch.  TY McGill is going to be hard to keep off the team.

-Singleton flies around.

-Elijah Riley had a nice interception late in the game.

-You could have played a better game at QB than Nick Mullens.

-Jake Elliot hit 3 42+ yard field goals.

-Overall, 1st teams looked OK.  I want to see more running game and the WR get involved with Hurts.

The Giants are morons.  The last thing they needed was another pass catcher in the 1st round.  Yet they reach for Toney, who should have went in the 2nd.  We forced them to reach.  But yeah, I would have preferred we traded down with the Bears as well.  I said it then and still believe it.

Yea that Bears deal was a great one.  I would have liked to take that too.

IMO, this is a great recap.

The ball looked good coming out of Hurts’ hand, but he was 3-for-7 (with a bad drop) and he missed a wide open TD to Quez Watkins. Jury is still out. Anyone saying otherwise isn’t basing their opinion on fact.

Also, the Steelers couldn’t block Javon Hargreaves.

Joe Flacco played really well in relief, too. OP is being kind to Mullens. He was "Sudfeld” bad on Thursday.

Eli Manning x2

That is off top of my head.

so 5 Superbowl out of 20? ill take that

Add in Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer(oops that in 21 years lol, close enough) to that list

Not to mention Tom Brady has won 7 out of the 20 and never took a top contract so they could build a team around him.

Not to mention Tom Brady has one 7 out of the 20 and was paid under the table by Kraft to his BS TB12 setup so they could build a team around him.

Thanks for the update, I’ve seen the Watkins TD, looks similar to the one he scored last year. Wouldn’t it be sad/funny if he ends up being the best WR we’ve drafted since Djax?

Your description of hurts sounds identical to his play last year. Flashes of great throws (the TD to alshon last year) sandwiched by bad throws and near misses. So he gives hope based on the odd great throw, but frustrates due to overall consistency. I guess we need to hope that the game "slows down” for him and he can eliminate some of that inconsistency.

Don’t canoe much, HE?  Best way to fish in reservoirs that still have trees standing, which is great for bass fishing.  Go to Voyageurs National Park.  Then after getting your feet wet, try the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  A class 3 level canoeist could handle all the challenges you would face on the water.

I mean…you canoe across the lakes and then carry it thru the woods to the next lake, till you get to a campsite. The carrying is called portaging. It’s a thing.

In fact you can travel right across Canada by canoe, and especially here in Ontario. Canoes are basically our analogue to the US and cowboys/horses. Our canoeists back in the day were called voyageurs.

Good/great QBs unquestionably win more, are more consistent and give the teams a much higher chance at winning a championship unless the stars magically align and they have a top defense.

Seriously, look at the history is the game.

Montana, Young, Staubauch, Elway, Favre, Warner, etc. Guys more recently like Wilson, Mahomes, Allen, Manning, Big Ben, Rodgers, Brady, etc. Just because a team might get lucky doesn't mean that teams should aim for it or accept "serviceable".

The fact that this is even a conversation is so asinine to me.

Up in Algonquin park where I was, it’s renowned for its trout fishing, Lakers and brookies. Lots of bass too. I was not successful this past trip tho

Some of them moved south into Louisiana and used pirogues to paddle through the bayous and swamps.  Damned unsteady boats, pirogues. My uncle built one and could actually fish from it without swamping it.

For lake paddling I always loved the old aluminum Quachita canoes because they had about an inch keel that stopped wind drifting but hated those boats when we had to portage. Heavy.

We traded our first and the Colts conditional pick for Drew Lock

Huntley I thought did well to. Pretty good on returns, plus on the ground game with a 4th string oline he had a few nice runs. If his big run was not taken back from a pent it would have looked better on the stat sheet. that pent happened after he was 10+ yards downfield as well which tells me that play was developed by him not the result of a illegal move.

Surprised to see Johnson on so little reps. Actually all Rbs with such little reps. But I get it, dont want to give away your scheme in preseason. This is a very interesting position to keep an eye on. Im sure they will keep 4 Rbs but its really hard to figure out which 4 it will be.

Fishing is an excuse to paddle.  There is a Zen to the process.  I have a friend who retired to Montana because he loves to fly fish.  He put my philosophy toward fishing pretty well.  You be in a steam casting your line achieving a rhythm with the water flowing by and just as you reach that point of almost a bliss as one with your surroundings, a damned fish would bite and destroy the moment and you just start over again.

I think the more appropriate discussion is Good team/great QB vs. Great team/good QB.

I think it has already become cost effective to go for the latter instead of the former

Not just that, I think people want to always bring up the past QBs but fail to say those QBs did not make the money they do today and eating up a giant portion of the cap space which hurts a team from building/keeping  team together. I love Rodgers, Wilson etc but once they started getting the big bucks you havent seen them in the SB. In the next few years you will see it with the newly signed big contracts in Allen, Mahomes.

In todays game with these greedy QBs always wanting more every year, your better off drafting a new QB every 5 years. Unless you get a guy like Brady who will take less money to let the team build. Thats one thing some of these QBs fail to realize. If you keep winning, you will make that money back 10x over in endorsements.

Lip service here trying to protect the player. This battle is over.
