I know this a world specific issue but none of the three remaining eagles pre season games are on weekend which will make it hard for me to watch them live.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

That's SOP.  The Eagles' preseason games are almost always on Thursdays... every now and then on a Friday, but that's rare.

Hard to not be excited for Hurts and this offense this season.

I’d be willing to bet there’s overreaction to wentz and hurts all season on here too. Great ready for the fun! :pizza:

I don't even want to think about that.

There are only two preseason games remaining, and one of them is on a Saturday.

No they have a game on a Thursday and a Friday.

Ah that's right. Jets game is Friday not Saturday. Still, two more games.

So I went back and slow motioned the miss on Hurts to Quez.  I think that was meant to be a timing throw and quite possibly the incompletion was both faults. Note at the 8, the CB is in slide mode facing towards the outside.  Now a few steps more, Quez does a stutter step but before that at the ten, the CB is already angling Quez toward the sideline so when Quez does the stutter, he is forced another yard toward the sideline.  The stutter does allow Quez to burst but it is too late because the ball is already on its way.  If Quez does that stutter at about the 8, the CB is committed to his slide move. A quick cut inside and he doesn’t get moved to the sideline and can burst to where the throw is going.  Now Hurts should have read the CB move and that Quez was going to be forced toward the sideline more.  It is a split second read.  That’s the kind of play missed in the PS that gets made in the regular season as the two become more acclimated to each other.

Hurts is incapable of the split second read at this point.

In watching some of the games that were on NFLN today, my feelings towards the Eagles RB room have changed drastically.  It seems that every team today had a 1st or 2nd year RB with explosion and pop.  The Eagles RB competition has been talked about all TC long but I'm really less than thrilled about it now.  I know the Eagles only ran the ball 11 times on Thursday but even so, I think the RB group has been highly overrated.

Miles Sanders, when it comes down to it, is a middle of the pack running back.  Injury prone and a liability in the passing game.

Boston Scott is a role player and nothing more.  Not hating on him guys, just being honest.

The best thing we can say about Jordan Howard is he looked good in pass protection.

Kenny Gainwell gained some yards but none of it looked impressive or jumped off the screen IMO.

Huntley looked fast but he's no more than a RB4/KR.

Kerryon Johnson is now out with a knee injury.

Did Holyfield even log a snap?

There has been an insane amount of RB talent the last 4 drafts and honestly, the Eagles have failed miserably in trying to fill the position.

Context: Fields had just been taken out of the game. They were going to boo anyone at that point.

I kind of hope the bears trade him. He goes somewhere where he’s the starter and knocks the bears out of playoff contention or in the playoffs.

It's sad that a random group of us could draft better than Howie

If I was the GM, and I know a ton of the board felt this way about all of these guys, our skill guys would currently be Kamara, Metcalf, Jefferson. We would also have Darius Leonard from the pick we acquired trading Nick Foles to the Browns right after the Super Bowl.

I just dont get it. Truly. How the hell can you be that bad at drafting and not lose your job? Lurie is a putz, which is kinda sad because I thought he was a pretty good owner until recently.

I think with kamara there was way more people split on that one. Way more than metcalf and jefferson.

I think the foles thing goes higher than just howie. I think lurie didn’t want to trade him either. The owner didn’t want to trade the QB that just won the eagles their first super bowl. In hindsight they should’ve dealt foles then or wentz (which at that point was highly unlikely) instead of letting it play out the way it did.

Just finished watching the first half of the first preseason game.  Quez Watkins really looks like a guy who can become a true playmaker.  He flashed last year in a very brief stint, good to see him carrying that forward, and getting a shot at the KR position.  That position is dying out with the new rules, but the PR position remains as valuable as ever.  Reagor seems to have the inside shot at that, but Watkins should get a look.

Nothing much learned from Hurts.  Missed that deep ball to Watkins, dinked and dunked over the middle for the most part to the TEs.  Reagor needs to catch that out.  AND.. Hurts needs to NOT put his head down 4 yards short of a first down on 3rd down in a meaningless preseason game.  His last snap was not a smart one.  In a regular season game, that's not a very smart play, as the odds of actually converting that is ridiculously slim, but in a preseason game, it's really stupid.   That's one of the dangers of a guy that lives on his legs so much at the QB position... too many unnecessary hits.

They only gave up one 3rd and 10 or longer.

I remember one third and long Ross Tucker made the call "all the defenders are around the sticks.” I thought everyone was going to lose it lol

Fields looked okay. Some poor throws, a horrible pass that should've been picked and a really, really stupid fumble. Also showed some good poise and hit on 70% for 140 (or so) and a TD. Definitely seemed to improve as the game slowed down a bit.

Watch Fields be good and it’s yet another black stain on Howie

It’s possible but I don’t remember many Eagles fans wanting fields

That I agree with. There was some but majority seemed to be no. I personally was more on the no side. But I don’t think it gives Howie a pass. If he turns out to be a stud, Howie had a chance to take him but didn’t. That’s on him.
