Miami's 3s looked like Rutgers. I'm not sure we learned anything about Fields today.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

That I agree with. There was some but majority seemed to be no. But I don’t think it gives Howie a pass. If he turns out to be a stud, Howie had a chance to take him but didn’t. That’s on him.

Yea I mainly bring it up because I don’t want to see a bunch of Eagles fans saying we should of took Fields & Howie screwed up as if the fans knew better. When none of the fans were trying to advocate for Fields during draft season.

I think fields has a chance to be legit, And every team picking from 7-10 might massively regret passing on him. I was shocked when Carolina & Denver both passed on him

Watch Fields be good and it’s yet another black stain on Howie

Fields struggled a little bit against/with the starters (which is to be expected), then kind of dominated the third stringers in the second half. Can the Bears coaching staff put him in a position to succeed?

Ofcourse they can, as you can see now that they signed Jason Peters..

I always felt that Fields was a better version of Hurts. Still not big on Fields and never have been. I'm not convinced (obviously) that Hurts will ever be the answer, nor do I think Fields will ever be special.

Having said that, I do think Fields can at least be a decent starting QB. Nothing terrible, but never one of the top 10 in the league. Middle of the road.

Any thoughts on defense?

They need to tackle in practice.  They sucked at tackling.

In watching some of the games that were on NFLN today, my feelings towards the Eagles RB room have changed drastically.  It seems that every team today had a 1st or 2nd year RB with explosion and pop.  The Eagles RB competition has been talked about all TC long but I'm really less than thrilled about it now.  I know the Eagles only ran the ball 11 times on Thursday but even so, I think the RB group has been highly overrated.

Miles Sanders, when it comes down to it, is a middle of the pack running back.  Injury prone and a liability in the passing game.

Boston Scott is a role player and nothing more.  Not hating on him guys, just being honest.

The best thing we can say about Jordan Howard is he looked good in pass protection.

Kenny Gainwell gained some yards but none of it looked impressive or jumped off the screen IMO.

Huntley looked fast but he's no more than a RB4/KR.

Kerryon Johnson is now out with a knee injury.

Did Holyfield even log a snap?

There has been an insane amount of RB talent the last 4 drafts and honestly, the Eagles have failed miserably in trying to fill the position.

Basically thought this the whole time, I don't know why or how this RB room got so hyped. Though Howard may be a little better than I initially anticipated which still isn't anything really good.

I think the RB room has 4 guys who are legit NFL players, but only one who is good enough to be a starter. The others are depth/role players.

From Nick’s PC yesterday he said he values a RBBC approach and it’s no secret they want the RBs highly involved in the passing game.  I suspect the 4 RBs will end up being Sanders, Scott, Gainwell and Howard and, although each will have a different role, each will be required to be able to do everything

Which four?  I have three, two maybes (Gainwell and Huntley, the latter primarily because of KOR), a has been, broken (Johnson) and a never will (Holyfield).

Sanders, Howard, Scott and Kerryon (if healthy) are NFL players. Gainwell is a maybe, but he’s certainly not getting cut.

That's a good RB group! IMO, 4 is the max. We have said we want to use RBs in the passing game, so that means both Scott/Gainwell should be ok. It's Howard vs. Johnson. Johnson already has knee issues, making the decision to keep Howard as the #4 easier.

Also, Scott/Gainwell play special teams.

I'd say kerryon " was" an NFL player.

His knee is wrecked and he's hurt again

Was telling that first guy off the bench for Sanders was Howard not kerryon or Boston.

I don't think kerryon makes the roster and I'm not sure another team bothers picking him up once cut

Too bad he was a promising prospect before the knee injuries.

Wouldn't be the first RB in the history of the league to have his career derailed by injuries.

I don’t think he’s making the team either. But he has a place in the NFL as a guy who can pass protect when he’s healthy. Coaches eat that up.

Sure he can pass protect but why keep a backup RB who doesn't play special teams just so he can pass block a few snaps a game.

They used to call those FBs except those were expected to play special teams as well.

Kerryon’s chances of making the roster depend on when he’s available again.  If he misses both preseason games, I’d say he’s 100% waived with an injury settlement.

If he plays and shows them something, then he’ll have a shot.  But he’s on the outside looking in for sure due to availability…behind all of Sanders/Howard/Scott/Gainwell/Huntley.

Teams keep low upside vets all the time because they’re reliable and know their assignments. Johnson has been playing special teams in practice too. That’s what he’ll have to do stick around in the league moving forward.

That’s what I thought too. It’s funny listening to Roob who said it was the best tackling he’s seen in the preseason.

As far as the crowd at rb…Sanders is a true lock. Scott and Gainwell are near locks.  Howard would be a real surprise if he got cut, but not impossible.

Gainwell would get picked up due to draft status.  Scott and Howard…toss up as to whether or not they get picked up this close to the season.  Huntley probably makes it to the PS unless someone thinks they can Mostert him and signs him to the active roster to return kicks and because they like his 40.

I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping 5 if the numbers can work out with other positions.  I’d go light at wr.  They will need to go very heavy with OL though, so that needs to be accounted.

No way we should keep 5 RBs considering the low ceiling of most of the guys we’re talking about.

Outside of Sanders and Gainwell (and maybe Scott), I wouldn’t care about losing any of the RBs on waivers.

We have 24-25 spots on offense.

QB(2): Hurts, Flacco
RB(4): Sanders, Scott, Gainwell, Howard
TE (4): Ertz, Goedert, Jackson, Rodgers
WR (5): Smith, Reagor, Watkins, Ward, Fulgham
OL (10) Mailata, Seumalo, Kelce, Brooks, Johnson, Dillard, Dickerson, Herbig, Driscoll, Clark

This gets easy if we keep 2 QBs and trade Ertz. It gets hard if we keep Ertz and want Mullens.

I the salary cap age that becomes more difficult as teams would rather cheap upside players rather than vet minimum low upside players.

I'm not sure how much kerryon is going to play teams during the season or even how good he is at it.

His one legit skill is as a pass blocker and looks like Howard has that on lockdown as well.

I can't imagine any team is going to sign a banged up RB simply to pass block a couple times a game

Just doesn't make much sense especially since he's damaged goods, currently hurt again
