Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Graham isn't Reggie White but no one is Reggie White.  Graham is just an all-time Eagle great player.  He hasn't put up the best numbers but he has been an above-average starter for years.  Mamula isn't a fair comparison in that part of Graham's lack of production was an early injury and then playing 3 seasons in a 3-4 scheme.  He's also a much more disruptive player than Mamula was and a better football player.   Look at Graham's TFL numbers.  He is, according to pro-football reference, number 35 all-time in that category. His closest comparison is really Trent Cole.  He is probably at his level and again an all-time great for the team.

Cox is a better player than Jerome.  Part of that is longevity which is unfortunate.  Jerome, however, wasn't as athletic or as disruptive as Cox.    Brown played on a d-line that was an all-time great between having White in his prime and Clyde Simmons.  He also had consistently good DT play next to him in Pitts and Golic.  Brown was very disruptive in more of a gap control scheme although he had a big season under Bud Carson who used the 46 but varied at times. Brown's production, I think, came when it was a known passing down and he had a favorable one on one matchup.  I think he was also sometimes the player cleaning up the sack that Simmons and Reggie created.0  Brown was a great player and it is sad that he died far too young.  It's not a slight on him to say Cox is better.  Cox is a HOF player.  He is athletic and disruptive and often the player that puts the pressure on QBs.  I mean how many times do we see him make QB's move.  How often do we see chasing down a RB from the backside.  He has a motor that is unique.  He actually reminds me more of Reggie White in terms of his body type and dominance at times.

I agree with you on Reggie, I disagree with you on Jerome. Dude was very athletic and fast for a d.t. I put him above Cox

Is hitting every pass in 11 on 11 less impressive than doing so in 7 on 7?

Only in this Blog.

I'd disagree, Cox was also very fast and athletic, the difference is Jerome never played out his career. He also had much better talent surrounding him (Simmons as well as White).

Also from people actually there and watching

JALEN HURTS UPDATE: More good than bad from Hurts, especially if we weigh full team drills as the most meaningful evaluation.

THE GOOD

1-on-1: Hurts hit Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins for deep touchdowns. Throws were right on the money.

7-on-7: Hurts found Reagor over the middle in a relatively tight window.

11-on-11: Hurts connected with both Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz on crossers in stride. Though his repetitive accuracy can be lacking, Hurts does a nice job of setting up his targets for yards after the catch when he does hit them. By contrast, that was not a strong suit for Carson Wentz. Hurts made a real nice anticipation throw to Quez Watkins that was right on the receiver after his break. Hurts hit Reagor deep for a touchdown.

On the whole, Hurts and the Eagles’ offense didn’t totally stall out against the Patriots like it has against the Eagles’ defense in practice.

THE BAD

1-on-1: Hurts was picked on a contested catch opportunity for J.J. Arcega-Whiteside that the receiver lost. A back shoulder throw for JJAW was instead thrown into the back of a Patriots defender.

7-on-7: Hurts had a short throw to the sideline knocked down by J.C. Jackson. Hurts got picked off when a high throw to Goedert bounced off the tight end’s hands. Hurts got picked off again when a short throw to Kenny Gainwell over the middle bounced off the rookie’s hands. The ball may have been a tad behind the target but it still should’ve been caught.

11-on-11: Hurts had Watkins open deep down the field and seemingly saw him but hesitated to pull the trigger and instead got "sacked.”

Reminds me of that one practice where Brady did something similar against us.

Now we have the QB. 😆

I am all about foundational pieces.  Maybe it's the old school in me.  But it might be a moot point, because we might need all of our 1st/2nds to move up for a QB.

Shouldn't need to move up at all.  Tyler Shough will be sitting on the board right where the Eagles will be picking

One thing about Jerome that I remember is that two out of his five years, he was too fat and didn't play as well as he did the other years. I think '90 was one of those years. In '89 and '91, he was in better shape and was great.

At their best, I'd say Brown was better than Cox. He could make some real eye catching plays that would take your breath away. But I think Cox has been a more steady player.

Did he? I've heard that Graham and White are essentially the same player

I think that's fair.  I believe the biggest thought with Jerome has always been a "what if".  So much raw talent, gone way too soon.  😞

He was talking about Graham and Cox

Graham's very good. Sorry Swoop .. Not even close. There's nobody in the NFL who can do this.

( Evidence forthcoming. Give me a bit )

I will attest to the fact that White is the greatest DL I ever saw, could play all four spots or all three spots in a 3-4 at a all pro level.

Let's not make a big deal out of practice, good or bad. Who knows what they're working on. Belichick is infamous for putting his players in a difficult position in practice to really test them and make it as hard as possible. It's just practice.

The only thing to glean out of practice is that Hurts is progressing the way we would hope he'd progress.

He's going to be a work in progress, can't teach him to read NFL defenses at a high level or completely fix his mechanics in one month of TC.

But if he makes good progress on both issues, there's hope by the end of the season he can develop into a legitimate NFL QB.

He has been in the NFL for more than a year.

Some QBs have been in the league for 5+ and still haven’t fixed their mechanics.

This is gonna take time 😞
