Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

🤦‍♂️

I don’t really care if Hurts plays against the Jets. I find it absolutely bizarre that they are acting like he’s Brady or Aaron Rodgers and just needs to be protected from preseason games without the need for work, but they can’t hide him in week 1. So he’ll be out there soon enough for all to see.

I don't understand him valuing joint practice over preseason snaps

I care that the "starting QB” has got little to no reps in the preseason.  If he is going to manage us to 6-7 wins, he’ll need to get reps in.  What I really care about is that this is just another signal that Lowie is running this team their way and it’s an embarrassment.

Not only that, but a starting QB who only has 4 NFL starts under his belt.  IMO, he needs all of the live game action he can get to better gauge what he is and to continue learning the NFL game.  I'm not buying this joint practices are better than PS games one bit.  It's ridiculous and such an "Eagles" thing to say and do.  It reeks of arrogance from the franchise.  I hate it.

We know Lowie is running the team for sure.  What I don’t understand is the motivation to shield him from preseason action.  The conspiracy theorist and Hurts-non-believer in me wants to say that it’s because they don’t want Hurts to look way out of his league as a starting qb and crush their leverage in last minute negotiations on the eve of a new season.

I don’t actually think that’s going on, but I just can’t comprehend how an extremely raw passer who spent most of last season as a WR/h-back/wildcat qb should be shielded from any opportunity learn when the bumps don’t count.

I bet that all the fans who paid a fee to attend the open practice won't be given a refund because the Eagles classified it as a "donation" and will just consider it a gift.

It was always slimy to me that they decided to charge money to fans to watch them practice.

After week 3 of preseason is over, someone needs to make a rank list, 1-32, of how many passes each starting qb threw in the preseason.

Will be interesting…

Strongly disagree. You want to build a team? You need guys who show the young guys how to practice, prepare, and play. Maybe not a lot of them, but enough and they have to be key guys. I think they wanted that from Alshon but he was not that guy. Kelce is that guy. You want to trade him too?

Absolute value in terms of talent is only part of team building.

I think people need to let go of players and not get so attached. I like Graham. I will forever be grateful for the strip of Brady cementing our first Super Bowl. I will always enjoy him both as a player and a person.

Having said that, I've seen Reggie in another uniform. I've seen Dawkins in another uniform. Even recently fan favorites (for some people) like Jackson, McCoy, etc.

If we can get value for a player, I would make the trade personally. We still have guys like Kelce, Cox, Johnson, etc. We have stop gap vets in here that can teach young guys a lot, too. We need to put ourselves in the best position moving forward.

I think the top guys have sat out but that was expected. Seemed like majority of this years draft picks played

A lot of teams are benching their starting QBs now in preseason. It isn’t just an Eagles thing.

I would hope it’s about a last minute trade.  But they did the same thing with Wentz and the last 3 seasons.  And the team has come out and looked like garbage.  And once the season starts, the injuries will start to mount.  Just like in years past.  Because they physically will not be ready.

There is pretty good evidence that you have to gradually elevate to maximum exertion in any sport, especially 60’ of football.  We’ve all said this for the last few years.  The 4th quarter week 1 is going to hit them hard.  To go from nothing to that duration of football is a rough transition.

"Out of concern for the safety of the fans and the team, the Eagles have canceled tonight’s public practice at Lincoln Financial Field due to the inclement weather forecast as a result of Hurricane Henri. Ticketmaster will provide refunds for fans who purchased tickets. Tonight’s public practice served as a fundraiser for the Eagles Autism Foundation, where all of the proceeds from ticket sales would be invested in helping families with autism through innovative research projects and grants. Lol had to add him

I'm surprised Chiefs didn't sit Mahomes

Kelce and Hurts had two muffed snaps during team drills. I hope that’s not a reoccurring issue like it was last year

He’s played roughly 3 quarters already, but seems like an obvious sit. I think that’s why they need to play Hurts more. Reid obviously feels it’s important to get the best player in the league ready for real games.

It bothers me because at the heart of it all, this season is really all about figuring out what they have in Hurts.  The more reps that Hurts misses due to the team's reticence to actually put him out there, the fewer reps he has to work on his game, fewer film session reps he can work on with coaches, fewer 'live bullets' he can see and adapt to.  Just not a fan of this type of precaution with such a young player.  A player with 4 games under his belt should not be put in bubble wrap like this in PS.

  • It's a controlled environment and they actually get to run more snaps than a game.
  • The offense doesn't have to get a first down to continue to run plays.
  • The offense and defense can get in work simultaneously against new looks on the other side.
  • They can dictate situations (red zone, two minute) without being beholden to the game flow.
  • It enables real-time coaching after each snap.

I would say the only downside would be less than full-speed contact/tackling.  But if your priority is health, then it is a compromise they're willing to make.

I think they said they would give refunds to those fans who reach out to them for one, but they mentioned it was a fundraiser in that notification.

Chargers stadium is beautiful

Lowie is terrified and scarred from all the injuries the last few years, so naturally they're over-correcting by keeping the team in bubble wrap until September 12.
