Hmmm .... I'd likely want to ask the What If Machine on that one:

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

The price of the Timmy Jernigan trade -- moving back from #74 to #99 in the draft.  Taking Sidney Jones at #43 on a big injury risk meant the Eagles took their highest rated CB off the board with their next pick in Rasul Douglas.

Some guys who were available at #74 and gone before #99 -- Chris Godwin, Kareem Hunt, Kenny Golladay, Shaquill Griffin

Certainly that doesn't look great when you look at it that way... but for perspective, every team misses on guys, and for every miss each team would face a list of successful guys they could have taken...  the draft is, was, and always will be a bit of a crap shoot...  the trick is to hit more than you miss...

Were they assigned Matt Leo or did they voluntarily sign him?  I know he doesn't count against the roster but he's 29, he's not going to be anything.  Isn't he taking reps and snaps from a potential player?

Quite the trick and very true.  I don't think this team hits nearly as much as they miss.

I suspect that we are all going to be disappointed with that one,

I'd be with you but no one else has stepped up either.

Smith, Reagor, Watkins and Ward are locks.  Fulgham hasn't done a thing and neither has JJAW.  Hightower was hurt and has to catch up.  #41 has size and experience but couldn't tell you his name.  Probably better to let the bottom of the WR trash keep competing and then claim a WR or two after final cut downs.

Voluntary. And not really, he’s playing mop in duty in preseason games so they can sit BG, Kerrigan and Sweat and Barnett last week. Ostman went out with a concussion too. Whatever reps he’s getting is just from someone else who’s not going to make it, and any young DE that needed reps had plenty to go around.

I just want to thank Andy for the hands he drafted for being so great.

You mean Modrak, Banner and Heckert?  The wide receivers McNabb and AR started with came from Modrak and Rhodes.  Then there was kind of a split of duties between Banner and the scouting group and Reid. Then they brought Heckert on board but towards the end, just Reid.

I don't know how skewed misses and hits are...  and I have no idea where they would fall if compared to the whole league...  to be fair...

Matt Leo is such a waste. Certainly there's some freak athlete international guy who's under 25 to take a flyer on?

Hakeem Butler needs his own award for his legendary Eagle career. 1 snap, 1 target, 1 hilariously bad play call. Legend.

Kirk Cousins is a good QB.

105 passer rating last year. 107 in 2019.

60 TDs to 19 INTs the last two years.

The Cousins hate is way overboard. He's pretty good.

You’re judging this team based on two nothing games?

What is clear to me from what I’ve seen is that the team lacks depth. The starters look pretty good. A few injuries, however, and the wheels could come off.

Sounds familiar.

I have no idea how that thing works besides the basic concept. But if there was anyone good they could just get drafted or sign with a team as a regular player like Mailata and some of these punters do.

Has anyone seen this yet?

Two teams have contacted the Eagles about trading for LB Genard Avery, per Adam Caplan.

Can the Eagles flip him for what they paid?   Doubtful.

Don’t want to sound overly critical about this but for a team with so many holes, so little depth and not much youth, Eagles kinda stunk with their UDFA signings this year. There’s only 3 left on the team and none seem to have a shot for a roster spot. Maybe Awosika and Stoll have a shot at practice squad.

Decent ball skills but neither quick nor fast. I guess we could do worse. Given his limitations I wish he was more physical. Twenty years ago he probably would have been a decent player, someone in the Al Harris mold, for those who might remember him.

(and me too.  a great waiver wire pickup from final cuts, back in the day.)

Not to defend the eagles but I’m also sure it was supposedly a weaker draft class so the UDFA are likely not as good league wide. I’m curious to see the number league wide of UDFA that make the 53 man roster this year

Don't remind me... those were my two highest 'want' players that year.

The mistake wasn't trading for Jernigan, it was grabbing Jones in Round 2.  Hopefully they didn't double down on that with Dickerson this year.

Jerrigan was a solid acquisition, no one's fault that he had a freak neck injury that basically ended his career.

Crap happens, only GMs with crystal balls and fans with 20/20 hindsight avoid these "mistakes."

True, I guess the true outliers would get drafted late. Mailata and that German guy were the only 2 I can recall that got buzz like that.
