August 24, 20214 yr I didn’t know the QBs were red shirted during joint practice. I really don’t understand how Nick views joint practices over actual games

Howard the Duck and Short Circuit had some of the weirdest love interest stories...a woman and a robot or a woman and a man-sized duck. Both equally creepy. But Johnny 5 is Alive!!

August 24, 20214 yr Regarding Fulgham. He's just far too inconsistent IMO. Even if he has a good day here or there, I'm ready to move on from him too. Cut both Fulgham and JJAW and bring in a guy off waivers...there's going to be some talent. Keep Ward as your WR5/6. You just can't depend on Fulgham to put it together for long stretches. He's going to be the biggest tease at WR. Probably will have a dominant game and then nothing for the next 7.

When in doubt, whatever the opposite of what ESP says is probably closest to the truth. He's the Bcarty of beat reporters. I'm not expecting much out of Fulgham. But it was nice to at least see some positive reports out of him finally. We get 2-3 "hits" between Smith/Reagor/Watkins/Fulgham/Gainwell/Jackson it's a huge step in the right direction.

Well let's just stick with their rookie seasons then. Again, they are not similar. You can change your story all you want. McNabb was drafted to be the franchise QB and it was obviously a rebuilding year with a rookie HC. Hurts was drafted as the backup and a piece of the "qb factory". McNabb was being groomed by Doug Pederson who was just holding his place until he got ready. Hurts got his shot, because the franchise QB ahead of him hit the skids and then essentially asked to be traded away. McNabb started 6 games and threw for 948 yards. Passer rating of 60. And wasn't benched his final game. Hurts started 4 games and threw for 1,000 yards and a passer rating of 77, but got benched his final game. The game is different now then it was in 1998. It's played differently. The team was at a different point in it's "rebuild". The goals for each QB are different. Hell, they didn't even know what the goal was for Hurts last year and I doubt they have a clue this year. Really the only similarity is that they both played QB as rookies in the Philly. Not really. The Eagles have said for some time that they view the roster need as having two starting caliber QB. What exactly is drafting a player for a backup role only. Depth yes. Next player up means starting. Do some have less talent than others? Absolutely. Do some develop and become starters? Yes. Is the goal in drafting a player that they are always going to slide back into the role of backup? Not at all. You conclude that Hurts was only drafted to be a backup. That is nonsensical especially with Wentz’s proclivity for getting hurt. Frankly, Wentz clearly saw Hurts as such a threat that he folded and wanted to leave town. Does/Did Hurts have limitations that caused him to be drafted where he was? Sure did. I didn’t have him on my draft board because he seemed to be a one read and run QB. Can a QB progress from that? We will see. But the premise that he was drafted to be a backup is flawed. Yes, Hurts was not performing optimally in the last game, who would with Pryor and Toth out there as OTs. You saw what that looked like last Thursday against the Pats in a PS game. The Eagles had a long term backup QB that didn’t get any PS snaps and they knew he was not going to be resigned. Doug told the team earlier that week that he was going to play him. They seemed to like Sudfeld and they did right by him giving him some tape so that he might get signed elsewhere.
August 24, 20214 yr Was just reading thru all the "favorite" movie posts, and I think it's important to remember there's a pretty wide variety of age groups in here, which would affect all the "fav" topics...

He kind of looks like Brett hart does nowadays.
