He was taken to the hospital because he collapsed - whether that was caused by COVID or something unrelated is unclear.

Could be - but my understanding is that myocarditis is more of a post-COVID condition.  Perhaps being low on oxygen simply caused him to pass out, but from what I've heard it's typically not that sudden.

I don't think we know what it means when they said he collapsed and it doesn't say it was a sudden collapse.  It just says the illness suddenly got worse.  It's pretty clear that it appears to be COVID related.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

I think Gainwell closer complement to Sanders than Scott is.  I think size has some impact on effectiveness but it's not a defining trait in terms of potential effectiveness.  Scott lacks great vision and shiftiness in tight spaces.  I am hoping Gainwell is a better runner.

Not sure why.  Scott has displayed very good hands.  Three inches shorter than Gainwell, he can hide behind the Gs and get yards up the middle and has at least as good of speed as Gainwell to bounce outside.  I did see several of Gainwell’s games at Memphis because I follow the AAC where my alma mater is also a member.  My kids went to PSU so I saw most of Sanders games there as well as his and Scott’s games with the Eagles.  Sanders has Shady like quickness.  4.19 short shuttle and 6.89 three cone.  Nothing I have seen so far suggests to me that Gainwell is a better runner than Scott.  I worry with his SS and 3 cone that Gainwell isn’t shifty at all.  He has a really nice first step but I think Scott does as well. Right now, based on how the Eagles are playing them, it looks like Gainwell is the #4 RB and Scott is up before him.   But the poster didn’t suggest Gainwell as a complement but rather as a replacement to Shady.  IF there is a replacement for Sanders, he isn’t on the roster yet.

I mean it also says he was discharged from the hospital after the collapse but got worse and went back to the hospital....

When do the Eagles announce their starting QB? They've had us on pins and needles for far too long.

When Watson is no longer available for trade

I imagine we are part of a Howie expirement.  They don't plan on contending this season.  4 seasons straight of heavy injuries.  I think they are going in the drastic direction of ultra short practices with no tackling and extremely limited exposure of starters to preseason to see if it helps with the team staying healthy and also to see what negative side effects there will be for sloppiness and preparedness heading into the season.

I doubt any starters play Friday.

Maybe Howie should Instead hire a competent training staff/medical staff

As awful as Chip Kelly was the eagles under him were one of if not the least Injured teams in the league, he leaves takes his sports science and smoothies with him and eagles are among the league leaders in games lost due to injury since.

Something need to change, I don't think not playing any starters in the pre season is the answer

Not central to the plot of the movie.  If it was set in July, rather than December.  Does it a make it a Summertime movie?

It was released in July, not set in July.

Plot[edit]

On Christmas Eve, New York City Police Department (NYPD) Detective John McClane arrives in Los Angeles, hoping to reconcile with his estranged wife, Holly, at a party held by her employer, the Nakatomi Corporation.

I've never seen Die Hard and you guys are making me glad I've never seen it

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Scrooged are the only two Christmas movies I make a point of looking for each year.  If I want to see a classic it will be Miracle on 34th Street or A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version)

Miracle on 134th Street is okay, too

I still can't believe we are going into the season with Zach Ertz on the roster. Also, it's funny how they haven't made him available to speak to the media once, but he is a starting player and prominent Eagle on the team.

It’s obviously Flacco.  Hurts can’t even sniff the field in a preseason game.

It's clearly the Rita's. Ever since they showed up its been a nightmarish hell whole. Doug fought back once in 2017 with ice cream and was able to still survive some serious injuries. But the next offseason, back to Rita's and their blood sucking Succubus ways.

Exactly why I wanted him. Exactly why I wanted either Jeudy, Lamb or Jefferson last year. Said a million times. You need a Route Runner all day over pure speed. There are just as many fast Dbs out there. Need to know how to get separation with your routes.

Die hard 2 is better and also a Christmas movie.

Route runner with great hands beats pure speed every time.

I know it was released in July, I never said it was set in July.    I said, if it was "set in July" would it be considered a Summer movie?  No. Because summer wouldn't have been central to the plot.  Much like how Xmas wasn't central to the plot.

Just because it took place on Christmas Eve doesn't make it a Christmas movie.  And if it was a Christmas movie then it would have been released.....during the holiday movie season which typically starts Thanksgiving week.

My bad, missed the if.

Die Hard is ranked top 10 on multiple Christmas movie lists.  Gremlins is top 20 on those lists, also released during the summer.

Miracle on 34th street was released June 11th.

It happened on 5th avenue was released April 19th.

Does not have to be released during the holiday season to be a Christmas movie.

At least the team is relatively healthy at this point in the season. Minor dings here and there but nothing too serious.

Guessing something like hereditary spherocytosis.  Always liked Vinny, wishing him the best.

No...  but Christmas, or the Christmas season, needs to be central to the theme of the movie...

Diehard is a pure action movie, and would be the same movie regardless of what the background season was...

At least that's how I see it...

What do you suppose Lurie’s reaction was to Howie getting the most votes as  the least honest GM by the agents but no votes as to talent evaluation and no votes as best GM coupled with no votes for potential GM candidates being Eagles.  That coupled with worst roster and the injury problems should make him really evaluate Howie.  If I saw those results from one of our managers I would make damn sure I was evaluating that person correctly.  If we use Jack Welch’s formula of 1-5 performance with 1s immediately canned and two types of 2s.  Those 2s new to,the position and growing into it with the potential to rise (Sirianni and Gannon, for example) and 2s with a downward trend.  Now, Lurie as CEO takes some of the blame for directing the keeping together of the Super Bowl roster as long as possible, but Howie is past that.  I have to believe that the agent survey is another confirmation of Howie being a 2 needing to be managed out.  Hopefully Lurie has his eyes open.

You're all wrong, Rocky IV is the best Christmas movie ever

I do think they call plays dead when there's a sack.  They probably need to work on making the time to throw as short as possible.

There are sacks and then there are big hits he takes just after releasing the ball.   The latter are the ones I'm referring to being the ones he's going to be taking.

It does not.  But it would make more sense if it did.  And it would also make more sense to call it a Christmas movie if Xmas was centered around the plot.

Miracle on 34th Street, we’ll one of the main characters was Santa.  So that makes sense.  Not the best comparison.

I believe you just mentioned It’s a Wonderful Life.  How is that a Christmas movie? Because they have a Christmas tree?  So does Die Hard.

Just a point of clarification.  Does Miracle on 34th Street really have Santa?  Kris Kringle never claims that.
