Yeah you guys said that about JJAW.

Great hands?  Great route runner? He did look like he could box out, which Jeffery did.  Thought he was drafted to replace Jeffery.  Didn’t translate in NFL apparently. Although it isn’t like Fulgham has great hands either. Frankly, Patton (they are all 6’2”) sounds like he outplayed both in TC.  I would nominate Patton for this season’s Na Brown Award.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Fun fact,

NIN or more specifically trent Resnar was banned from playing at venues in SLC Utah as he burned a Book of Mormon on stage and threw it out into the audience.

Not sure if that's still the case.

Having said that Johnny cash cover of hurt is far better!

There are indeed so many good ones. I like all you list here except The Departed. It's a remake of a Korean film called Infernal Affairs. I like the Korean version more. Also worth mentioning is Oldboy. Not the execrable Spike Lee remake but the original directed by Park Chan-Woo. Might be the darkest movie ever.

Which brings me to the Hong Kong crime movies of John Woo. Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, and A Better Tomorrow 2. All great.

As you said, so many good ones.

I have heard the Johnny Cash version many times. For some reason, I always liked the NIN version better.

What about this one???

Yep.  It’s trendy to say the Johnny Cash version is better.  And I was never a NIN fan.

Only liked two songs ever from NIN. Hurt and Closer.

Love that movie but it's hardly great. Well, great fun. Kurt Russell doing a John Wayne impression throughout.

Not a big fan of NIN my brother used to listen to them a lot but was never my jam, but sometimes a cover comes out that is better than the original and Johnny cash hurt is that for me.

Here's another cover better than the original.

I’ve actually heard from a lot of people the Korean version is better than the depart. I have to check it out. I just have to find a platform it’s on.

Underrated comedy for me is kingpin. I watch it nearly every time it comes on and it’s as funny today as the first time i watched it.

Yup it's pretty corny and my brother and our friends loved it when we were kids!

Speaking of John Wayne and Kurt Russell.

Just watched a documentary on Netflix called, The battered ****'s of baseball.

About Kurt Russell's dad,  Bing Russell  who was in a couple movies with John Wayne and Bing after retiring from acting bought a single A independent baseball team in Portland, fascinating story that I had no idea about

Check out Thief with James Caan. Michael Mann's first feature film and possibly his best.

Yup,I had no idea Kurt Russell was a baseball player until I watched this film

Wonder how much a Portland Mavericks hat goes for these days?

The best cover songs are ones that sound very little like the original:

Manfred Mann -- Blinded By The Light

Nazareth -- This Flight Tonight

Streetheart -- Under My Thumb

One notable exception is Triumph doing the Joe Walsh song Rocky Mountain Way -- Rik Emmett is such an accomplished guitarist he could pull it off.

Metallica - Whiskey in the Jar

Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower

Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World

Foo Fighters - Baker Street

And yeah, bring on the jokes

The Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter

The Muffs - Kids in America

Didn't know blinded by the light was a cover, I do know that song and it's one dubious lyric caused quite the stir.

Galaxy Quest is that for me.   So many layers of hilarious, and it stays as funny the most recent time as the first time.

One mistake, #40 The Warriors, Hill didn't blend The Odyssey, he blended Xenophon's Anabasis, the story of a Greek mercenary army (The Ten Thousand) that was stranded in Persia after the defeat of their client, and had to fight their way to the Black Sea and thus back to Greece.

So everything I’m reading from the beat guys is that the team looks great in the cross-team scrimmages/practices but that’s not translating to the preseason games due to who isn’t playing and the vanilla gameplan.

I’d like to see Hurts get some game time in the next game, but it seems like they’re putting more emphasis on the practices rather than the preseason games.
