Well, this season is a near complete unknown...  I'm somewhat optimistic about Hurts, but not necessarily for the season as a whole...  there I'm in neutral; see how things develop...  the trick this year is to keep ones expectations realistic...  I'd like to see the team grow as the season moves along, because I think that'll be an indicator of the job Sirianni is doing...

That seems a bit of an overstatement.   I bet on most plays they will put 11 players on the field in the same uniform, with wings on their helmets.  I say 'most' because I expect that they will have more than 11 and less than 11 a few times.  Everything beyond that is just X's and O's.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

If he's not being coached to do that, that's a real problem...  they should have him watch all of Russell Wilson's un-scripted runs since he came into the league...  guy is a master of not taking shots...  and they're games are somewhat similar...

I do wonder how much Wilson's baseball background helps him with that.  I can't figure out why so many QBs struggle with sliding, but it has to be with comfortability.  Which is another reason to NOT force kids to specialize as much as they do in high school.

I don't consider it an overstatement at all...  it could be almost anything from a disaster to a pleasant surprise...

Agreed. I'll be happy with a 6-11 or 7-10 record, the players we drafted the last 2 drafts step up and play well and look like they'll contribute for years to come. Also this young coaching staff holding their own and getting better throughout the year. If that happens my optimism will be through the roof heading into next offseason

I do think it's more a natural instinct...

Seems to be the ones that just want to get more yards vs the ones that want to live for the next play

Wilson is definitely a good example on how to not get hurt while running. Rodgers would be another

Sheesh.  Really hard to gauge this team and any individual stats giving the uncertainty of this offense and all the secrets.  If he hits those marks, he’ll have a shot at being the QB next year.  But just so much depends on the health of the line and the growth of the receivers.

Honestly the eagles need to figure out if he’s the long term option at QB this year and not just see improvements and say he’s the guy next year but we still don’t know long term. The draft capital they have going into next offseason is what you need to either move up in a draft to secure that QB or trade for another QB if you dont envision hurts as the long term option or still unsure. To me that is the biggest thing they need to figure out this year. Can’t go into next year just hoping hurts can be the long term guy have to have the definitive answer which direction they want to go.

I'm more confident this year then I was last season when it comes to the wrs. Smith and Watkins on the outside should be a nice combo and should help Reachgor to flourish in the slot where he belongs. I like Fulgham to back these guys up. I'm sure they'll add a vet before the season begins

Hurts will complete 58% of his passes with 23 passing TDs, 14 INT, 8 rushing TDs and 8 fumbles.

You heard it here first.

I'll take the under when it comes to fumbles

Some nice praise from one of the best on Eagles beat

I predict that by week 6 the sentiment of "wow, Smith, Watkins and Reagor is a nice, talented, trio we can build on" shifts to "we need another WR"

"Stop drafting WRs and just trade for a proven stud"

I can see both of those being said

And all it’ll take is two bad games…then few weeks later we’re back to thinking WR group is strong. It’s really a vicious cycle

Sure... but you have to admit, you know that there will be 11 players on the field for the Eagles on most plays.

As for the rest... sure.  Sirianni has been very clear about not wanting to tip his hand... far too much.  That is overblown.  Is that one game against Atlanta the pivot point for everything?  Because once they play Atlanta, they will have more plays on film than they would have put up in the full preseason with the starters.  And then by week 3 or 4, teams will have a decent sense for what they want to do... and then the chess match will really begin.

So was the Oline trash in practice or WRs couldn't get open or were these scrambling by design?

Has he?

Seems like he’s been moving around a lot. I haven’t seen many throws from pocket so far in TC.

Can’t we just be happy for once lol

I'll be happy when he stays in the pocket and goes through his progressions. I don't want him getting hurt

He doesn't know what those are.

Then the QB coach failed

Haven’t heard Sweats name really at all lately (last week or so). He cool off?

Not a fan of the constant "out of the pocket” plays he is making.  Not good for sustainable long term success.

Is it him rolling out too early or the o-line sucking?
