Haven’t heard Sweats name really at all lately (last week or so). He cool off?

He's been mentioned a lot the last two days. Maybe not at the same level as early on in camp but he also stopped going against Dillard.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Is it him rolling out too early or the o-line sucking?

Probably some combination of the two. Having said that, it's a concern because he was a one read QB in college. He was a one read QB last season. If he's constantly on the move, it could very easily be because he's still not going past his first read in the pocket.

Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott aren’t vaccinated?

I think you’ll find that out during the course of this year. If the oline actually stays healthy i think they will be solid to very good. So i have a hard time believing with the oline relatively healthy right now and against the Jets D it’s the oline at the moment. Unfortunately i don’t believe the oline will stay healthy as we got 3 guys in their 30s so it’s asking a lot so he might be forced to scramble more when that occurs

like 4for4 said we really want hurts to look great this year. And if he’s not great then just be bad because it makes the decision easier to go with or move onto another QB and actual changes

I see what you did there.  Don't know if you meant to do it, but I see it.

Who are some guys you hoped the Eagles drafted this year that look to be turning heads?

I was really hoping they would take Richard LeCounte out of Georgia.  He had a knee injury in 2019 so he wasn't as good in 2020 but he looks like he could be a star with the Browns at safety.  Would have loved to have him here.  We really need some young, dynamic safeties.  Wallace doesn't inspire me at all and even if he plays well, he's one-dimensional.

I also thought tight end was an underrated need position.  Would have loved to find a way to get Pat Freiermuth.  I think he's going to have a better year than any Eagles TE.

Especially with no Lawson, Curry and Williams just starting to practice for the first time all summer.

I didn't want him where the Eagles were sitting at, but Rousseau has had some nice flashes

The best cover songs are ones that sound very little like the original:

Manfred Mann -- Blinded By The Light

Nazareth -- This Flight Tonight

Streetheart -- Under My Thumb

One notable exception is Triumph doing the Joe Walsh song Rocky Mountain Way -- Rik Emmett is such an accomplished guitarist he could pull it off.

:nonono:

How about Love in Vain by the Stones, Cross Roads by Cream, Dust My Broom by Howlin’ Wolf and I heard some band name Led Zeppelin did a decent cover of Traveling Riverside Blues. All songs by the same guy.

Manfred Mann killed Bruce’s song.  If we are going to talk a cover, which I don’t think is entirely right because I think she wrote part of it, Patti Smith did such a great job on Because the Night, that while Bruce would play it in concert, he declined to record it for years despite it being a fan favorite.

I took guitar lessons about a decade ago.  When I sat down for my first lesson, the instructor asked what I wanted out of it.  I told him that I wanted to play guitar like Joe Walsh.  Before I had even opened my case, he looked at me quite seriously and said that was unlikely as he didn’t think he was that good of a teacher.  I smiled and said it was more unlikely because I wasn’t sure many can and certainly not me.

So was the Oline trash in practice or WRs couldn't get open or were these scrambling by design?

I can't give you the exact answer you're hoping for, but from what I've read and the few clips I've seen, the Eagles did actually use some designed roll outs in the joint practices,  even though they aren't doing that in the preseason games.

Asante Samuel Jr. had a pick the other night. I wanted him in the second. That's the only guy I can really complain about.

Well, this season is a near complete unknown...  I'm somewhat optimistic about Hurts, but not necessarily for the season as a whole...  there I'm in neutral; see how things develop...  the trick this year is to keep ones expectations realistic...  I'd like to see the team grow as the season moves along, because I think that'll be an indicator of the job Sirianni is doing...

I am really curious to see what Gannon trots out as a defense.   After the DL, he doesn’t have a ton of talent to work with and very little depth, maybe.

On offense, it is quite possible if the OL stays healthy and the receivers keep the drops down that they exceed our realistic expectations.

Thing is, it is possible given how Howie is perceived by the fan base, that the coaches are playing for their jobs and Howie’s. If Howie goes, one would think the new GM would want to bring in his own choices for coach.

That is a good film. Cinderella Liberty was another of Caan's that I liked back in the day.

Don't think anyone has mentioned Lone Star yet - always thought that was an under-rated film with great twist at the end.

Lone Star was very good, I agree. That what the hell ending was great.

The bar is set with this play (sorry NFL makes you open in YouTube).

Anyone want to take a stab at predicting the top 3 reception leaders for the team?

Thinking Smith, Goedert, and a RB. Tricky trying to guess who that RB will be. Hoping it's Gainwell but that's probably optimistic.

Smith, Ward, Goedert

Smith, Reagor, Ertz if he’s here the whole season. If not then Goedert.

Hurts seems to be using Reagor a lot.  If they have a rapport together it would be Smith, Reagor, Goedert — which IMO is best for the offense as a whole.  It will be interesting to see how many snaps Ward gets this season, as he will likely be splitting some snaps with Reagor in the slot.  If Watkins flashes early in the season he’ll also cut into Ward’s snaps

Smith, opposing defense, JJAW

Not a fan of the constant "out of the pocket” plays I keep hearing about.  Not good for sustainable long term success.

Yup.  Especially in the 'controlled environment' of practice.

He's been getting quadruple teamed.

Who knows.  But his biggest area of improvement was getting to his 2nd and 3rd reads.  Even if the Oline was sucking, he should stay in the pocket in practice.  QB’s aren’t getting hit.  Work on the reads.  I don’t think he has it in him.

Not sure about whether he has it in him or not, but it doesn't seem to be his instinct right now.   And he needs to work on that to make it his default.
