Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Hurts seems to be using Reagor a lot.  If they have a rapport together it would be Smith, Reagor, Goedert — which IMO is best for the offense as a whole.  It will be interesting to see how many snaps Ward gets this season, as he will likely be splitting some snaps with Reagor in the slot.  If Watkins flashes early in the season he’ll also cut into Ward’s snaps

I'll agree with that.

I do think that Siri is going to bring a heavy pass catching RB angle to the team which is why I think one will sneak into the top 3, but there may be too many cooks in that kitchen right now unless Gainwell really explodes on the scene.

One of my favorite natural linebackers.  Love the way he plays.  Dying breed.

Haven’t heard Sweats name really at all lately (last week or so). He cool off?

Dillard must be standing him up in 1 on 1s.

nope they made out and are currently experimenting with each others privies

Listening to some post practice pods and the general consensus was Jets we’re getting decent pressure up the middle, Hurts would run around for awhile, and Jets defenders would complain because they had to let up but the play kept going. Overall Eagles still "won the day” but I think these beat writers are getting too wrapped up in these practices and it would be different in a real game.

Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott aren’t vaccinated?

It’s racist to point that out, stick with Cousins only.

I think it’s also kinda weird we had two strip sacks on Wilson when you aren’t supposed to touch the QB. Feels like our D were kinda being try hards where Jets were letting up more

Current status: Both sides explored a potential contract early in the offseason, and there hasn't been much momentum since then, for reasons unknown. The team views Goedert as a cornerstone for the post-Zach Ertz era, and Goedert is widely regarded as one of the game's most complete young tight ends. But something is holding Philadelphia back, and it feels like the Eagles are waiting on another domino to drop. The whispers of the Eagles' interest in QB Deshaun Watson aren't going away, so perhaps the Eagles must figure that out before any major spending -- especially if they must ship key players to Houston to consummate a deal.

I’m encouraged that we’re hearing the coaches are teaching and focusing on strips and punching the ball out.  The Eagles only had 19 takeaways last season against 29 giveaways for a -10 ratio.  That doesn’t even include all the 4th down gambling Doug was doing which resulted in turnovers on downs.

The Eagles need 30+ takeaways this season, and to be in the plus column.

Nah they quit. Guys like 4for4 and bacarty act tough on internet. I’m the only thug in the blog:angry:

So if the Eagles extend Goedert, it means they are out on Watson? Interesting

Idk what to make of that report. I could see goedert asking for more than what the eagles believe he’s worth and they can’t come to a number they can agree upon to get an extension done. However eagles can franchise tag him after the season worse case scenario.

Yeah was a weird report. The two don't have to be connected.

Yep. Jamie Kennedy’s career went bye bye after that movie 😆

Goedert, even in unbiased circles outside of Philly, is a well respected TE who is a popular breakout candidate.  But he also has never been a true high volume starter, yet still managed to accumulate a bit of an injury prone label.  He had  524 yards and 3 TDs last year.  We aren’t talking about a proven elite TE here.  He’s just a good all around TE.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay Goedert that kind of contract yet. Let this season play out, and if you have to franchise him to keep him, so be it.

Careful. When I said this about a month ago I was wrong because he’s the bestest TE ever!!

I think it depends. In game it should be secure the tackle, then someone else punch it out. Otherwise it’s more likely you give up extra yards vs punching out the ball.

If he's not being coached to do that, that's a real problem...  they should have him watch all of Russell Wilson's un-scripted runs since he came into the league...  guy is a master of not taking shots...  and their games are somewhat similar...

The biggest difference I see with Hurts and Wilson is they way they handle the pass rush. Wilson is a master at stepping up into pocket and sneaking out through the middle. By contrast, Hurts's first instinct when pressured isn't to step up, but rather to roll outside. Until he learns to stay in the pocket like Wilson, I don't think he's going to come close to matching his productivity.
