Yeah was a weird report. The two don't have to be connected.

They don’t, they just want to sound smart in case it comes true. The issue probably is Goedert wants something more than Eagles want to give. Maybe it’s Ertz being here and Howie not wanting to piss him off more. Maybe Goedert doesn’t want to be here. Who knows?

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Goedert, even in unbiased circles outside of Philly, is a well respected TE who is a popular breakout candidate.  But he also has never been a true high volume starter, yet still managed to accumulate a bit of an injury prone label.  He had  524 yards and 3 TDs last year.  We aren’t talking about a proven elite TE here.  He’s just a good all around TE.

Careful, some would say he's one of the best TEs in football.

David Draimen is actually a trained opera singer from what I’ve heard.

Where would he have to rank to be among the best TEs in football? Top 5? Top 10?

Right, his cover of that sends chills up my spine (I don't listen to any of his other crap)

Do we know yet if Hurts will play any amount this week?

Depends on what he has for lunch

bacarty and ghor should have posted here at the same time. The bets would be non-stop. That was ghor's fighting style too. Bets.

I miss ghor

I want the dude to take his losses, then I will move on.

You miss the entire point of people being trolls. They will never admit their losses and their only reason for posting is to get attention. So if you don't move on he will never go away.

The biggest difference I see with Hurts and Wilson is they way they handle the pass rush. Wilson is a master at stepping up into pocket and sneaking out through the middle. By contrast, Hurts's first instinct when pressured isn't to step up, but rather to roll outside. Until he learns to stay in the pocket like Wilson, I don't think he's going to come close to matching his productivity.

Well, that's true...  which is why I used the word "similar"...  I don't expect Hurts to become Wilson...  but, he does remind me of him to a certain extent...

The logic is so clear and plain... but, it is what it is...  this needs to come back into play = :peng:

Yup

That is true, it would be a great warning system for those of us that "don't suffer fools" , but the rest would still quote the trolls

Nah.  I put him down.  It was my turn.  Tomorrow it will be someone else to put him in his place.  Jealous?   I know you love him.  He’ll make up a bet you didn’t agree to and then run and hide.

Or would you rather just still fantasize about Nick Foles and his hang down?

Doing the second part either way

This is fun to read.

The Philadelphia Eagles are in an even worse state. They might contend for worst team in the league.

And would you care to take a guess where the NFC East ranked amongst the other 7 divisions?

Ok Jeffrie…

Something would have to go drastically wrong for the Eagles to be in contention for worst team in the league.  I think we've got an average ball club with potential to win a bad division

It's a silly hot take from someone just skimming pre-season results and extrapolating a whole bunch of nothing.  This team isn't good, but has enough to compete and win games.  Anyone that knows their stuff would say that.

I would say top 5. He's a good TE, but I've said it a million times on this board, he is talked about as if he's some juggernaut by some. He isn't. We're still waiting for him to "break out" and it's year 4.

I’ve predicted a 7-10 record for awhile now.  The first half of their schedule is quite difficult, though — then the second half has a lot of cream puff opponents.  The Eagles could be 2-7 through the first nine and if the team doesn’t stick with the first-year coaching staff and their methods, then things could get ugly.

I see the team starting very slow and putting wins together late in the season — so get ready now for the incessant whining in here in November and December about how the team will ruin their high draft position.

Coaching staff is such an unknown that its tough to say.

i think Hurts is limited enough that the ceiling for the team is mediocre

I've been saying it for a year that Goedert is the Eagles tight end they should try to trade.  I feel like he's one of those guys who's considered almost great and on the doorstep of a breakout season but never has one.  I almost...almost, view him in the same light as Derek Barnett.   Barnett flashes and is always on the cusp of his big season.

Paying a tight end potentially top 3 money is a luxury this team can't afford right now.  They should have used one of their mid-round picks on a tight end this year.  Brevin Jordan, Hunter Long, Noah Gray or Kenny Yeboah (undrafted but IMO, a steal) while giving Ertz a modest 2-year extension and keeping Tyree Jackson as the developmental tight end.

Back before Kyle Pitts skyrocketed up the boards I was suggesting looking to trade Goedert in a Hayden Hurst type of deal which brought back a 2nd and 4th.  I would still do that trade today.

Anyone keep track of record predictions this year?  How about game score predictions?

I'm at 6-11 or 7-10, but considering the lack of depth, I'm ok.  The Jags could be a dumpster fire as the Falcons could be.

And agree on your 2nd point.  It was bad enough last season!

I've done it in the past.  I'll do the records, but not going to have time for game score predictions.

REMINDER TO ALL making predictions... SEVENTEEN game schedule!  lol

I'll start... 5-12.

8-9 . I think Hurts will definitely win some with his legs and cause enough excitement to keep him another year.

And thanks!

Just an update as I see people making some declarations, only the post that mentions me with the "@" , or quotes me, will be recorded.    I will post periodic updates with the most recent predictions.

I am curious as to where the blog thinks the team will be.  I will include posts with the mean, median and mode for number of wins as well.
