This 17 game stuff is just weird.  Just make it an even 18, give every team 2 bye weeks and drop the Thursday night games.

Virtually every team that was interested or needing to hire a defensive coach had him pretty high up on their radar. These are knowledgeable people that are good at hiring, some of them have worked closely with him and actually have first-hand knowledge of how he does things and how he thinks. Like everybody else, I have never seen him actually be the coordinator, so we’ll have to see. But I go into his time as the Eagles defensive coordinator with very high expectations.

Rough sch BUT I think we squeeze out a few we didnt expect early since teams just have no tape on Nick and Jonathon;s schemes yet. We will still have a rough get go with it being so new. If it wasnt for some really tough teams right away I would have given them a few more wins.

They probably should. This is a potential SB contending team and if it's going to be some stupid non-stop distraction like its turned out to be, just cut your losses. Diggs, Sanders and Davis is fine for them at WR. Pick up a slot guy when there's cuts.

Maybe they will take Ertz if we throw in Ward.  Our luck, Ward goes there and looks like the greatest slot WR in the NFL.

Is Banner really that connected at this point?  IIRC, Banner was a friend of Lurie before he got the job.  His was a gentle departure of sorts. (Seems like most are with the Eagles).  I just wonder how much we hear like the things in the article are driven by conversations he has with Lurie.  Not saying that Banner is a Lurie mouthpiece but I do suspect a lot of his information is filtered through Lurie.

On offense, it is quite possible if the OL stays healthy and the receivers keep the drops down that they exceed our realistic expectations.  

Thing is, it is possible given how Howie is perceived by the fan base, that the coaches are playing for their jobs and Howie’s. If Howie goes, one would think the new GM would want to bring in his own choices for coach. 

I could see how this defense may be better than I expected.  I mean there's not much depth aside from the d-line.  I think, however, Gannon may scheme more to help the back 7 and focus on creating turnovers.  I I could also see them getting picked apart by an effective passing game. 

On offense, I think the team turns on how Sirianni is able to scheme and playcall an offense. If Hurts improves, that will help but I think a lot of the focus should be on whether Sirianni puts the offense in the best position.  If he's creative in the run game and moves the pocket I think the team could be much better on offense.  I think there's a possibility the team could be a top 5 type rushing offense.  If they are, then this team could certainly could exceed expectations.

But boy when you disagreed on players prior to the draft it could get going.  NBD, frequently you both drove me to look at players a second time or sleepers I was not aware of.

Just reading through the last few pages of predictions,  I have drawn a conclusion.....there are going to be some sad MFers in this Blog by the end of December.

Atlanta cut the couple of fringe players they had that weren’t vaccinated.  They weren’t going to make the team anyway.   But if there is a choice between Player A and Player B and they are pretty equal, teams are going to cut Player B.  And regaining a role in the NFL is going to be hard because doing a tryout is harder for the unvaccinated.  

Who are some players on the bubble that you will be disappointed if they don't make the 53? I would like to see Awosika, Tarron Jackson, Jack Stoll (would've had Tyree Jackson here), LaRaven Clark (simply just for lack of trust in Dillard to block anyone), Jacoby Stevens, Davion Taylor (intrigued by speed if he can put rest of his game together), and Patrick Johnson (am done with Avery experiment).

Honestly I think they should go back to 14 game schedule, probably lead to less injuries Get better play, but the Owners are greedy they'll probably push for 20 games in a couple years👎

Funny thing is when the beats report on Ward, it sounds like he is having a real good camp.  From the practice report in The Athletic this week (not sure if Zach or Wulf)

• Greg Ward puts on a route-running clinic in the slot for a completion down the seam. 
• Another clinical route from the slot from Ward for an easy completion

Hurts hit Greg Wardover the middle of the field for a touchdown on fourth-and-5. 

Not pushing Ward, just noting what has been seen by reporters.  I believe if Ertz sticks and Sirianni incorporates Scott and Gainwell in the passing game like we suspect, then when Ward is in this year, we see deeper routes from him.  If he is WR#4, he really will benefit from the dilemma of covering the other WRs.

Every condemnation I see of the Eagles in national projections, seem to forget about the injuries the Eagles had on offense last year and naysay the potential of the Eagles weapons.  They may surprise, who knows. But if the OL gives Hurts time, someone is going to be open.

Not sure about going back to 14 games, but 17 is just pure greed without regard for players well-being...
