Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

A heck of a lot more clout than a nerd with a spreadsheet

Dennis Allen has more clout than a Super Bowl-winning GM?

It’s been wild in here lately. Andy Reid has never developed a QB and Dennis Allen has clout.

It’s solid prediction.

24 more hours before we lose to the Jets and everyone amends their season record predictions

Well you would have been in the majority 3 years ago when I was sounding the horn on this issue.  Now you’re not.

but hes right cause I also agree with afan on all things Howie.

Another one of my favorite @austinfan takes, Lowie must have been impressed with the staff he was putting together.

Sirainni was interviewed January 19th.  If they were so impressed "with the staff he put together", why did they interview Shane Steichen and Curtis Modkins for offensive coordinator January 24th.  Modkins has no connection to Sirianni.  Steichen was also interviewing for the Seahawks offensive coordinator job.  I dunno about you, but I take the Seahawks job all day with Russ and those WR's.

Jonathon Gannon was interviewing for the Chargers and Bears defensive coordinator jobs the same time Sirianni was interviewing for the Eagles job.  How was he emerging as the favorite 5 days after Sirianni supposedly wowed Lowie with his staff he was assembling.

And then there is the QB coach.

Quote

Surprised by Eagles’ interest

When the Eagles contacted Mullen last month and told him they were interested in Johnson for the quarterbacks coach position on Nick Sirianni’s new staff, Mullen was a little surprised.

Johnson had never worked in the NFL. His lone exposure to the league was an unsuccessful rookie minicamp tryout with the Green Bay Packers in 2009. He didn’t really know Sirianni or anyone on his staff.

While Sirianni was given the freedom to put together his own staff, it’s likely that Roseman, a University of Florida grad, suggested Johnson, who helped develop Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott at Mississippi State and Kyle Trask at Florida, to him.

I made 3 points in my reply to afan.  2 are facts.  Who they interviewed, and who has enough clout to push back.  He said McDaniel was the only one, I gave 6 names.  The fact that an unknown got the job over guys who have a greater resume, gives me and a bunch of others the information we need to know a yes man was hired.  Then the stories coming out about the babysitting they did with Doug during the season, backs up that information.

Sirianni was an unknown?  There are 32 OCs, 32 DCs in the NFL.  Sirianni was one.  He had more experience than Brady in the NFL at that level.  McDaniels failed without Belichek like most of his assistants do. Allen failed at the Raiders but has been a DC for a long time.  I don’t think they were going to hire a DC.  Same thoughts about Bowles.  Sirianni has been a suggested name as a possible HC and he probably brought who is believed to be the best next rising DC candidate with him.  What level of experience suggests Duce would be a good hire.  One thing we discovered with Doug is his coaching contacts dried up.  Seems less likely with Sirianni.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday that the league will require clubs to interview at least two external minority candidates for head coaching openings and at least one minority candidate for any coordinator job, per sources informed of the decision.

That’s why Modkins was interviewed.

Yep.  Exactly.  They dictated what Super Bowl winning Head Coach, Doug Pederson, was going to do with his Offensive coaching staff.  But let Nick Sirianni pick his own?

Please!   That’s next level ignorance and apologist ish right there.

The denial by some in here is sad.

You know who Doug’s choices were though, right?

And Lowie’s interference and choices led to the franchise quarterback who just got $100 million contract falling apart, ands  $34 million dead cap this year.

Dennis Allen played and has 25 years coaching experience, and a Super Bowl on his resume.

Todd Bowles played and has 24 years of coaching experience.

Duce Staley played and has 10 years of coaching experience, a chunk of that under Andy Reid who I have been told is the best developer of everything.

None of them should defer to a bean counter on anything other than cap management.

Dennis Allen has only lasted three years or more at the Raiders (HC but hardly a success) and with the Saints.  Bowles only three year stint was with the Jets as HC (hardly a success). Sirianni was in KC for four years, San Diego for four years and probably would be on his third as OC in Indy but he got the Eagles job.   Not saying Sirianni will be a hit but we have seen Allen and Bowles fail.  They didn’t even get offered positions.  Not sure why you think they would more say than Sirianni.  Why you think our RB coach that couldn’t get a job as an OC would have more say than Sirianni.

You and 4for4 want to die on the hill that Sirianni is some sort of yes man with not an ounce of evidence to substantiate that.  Fine, leave your blinders on.  I am with Veej on this.

We have given you plenty of evidence, you are just choosing not to see it

This conversation has been resurrected, I see.

No, you have stated your opinion over and over.  I have stated mine.  We could be both wrong.

Nah...  you can keep dressing it up, but it's all still speculation and opinion, as least as it relates to Sirianni...

Keep living in denial and trying to speak it out of existence.  I have been "Mr Told You So” for years on Howie and Lurie.  And guess what….I’ll continue to do so.

Just curious...  did you foresee Lurie and Howie winning a Super Bowl during all those "Told You So" years?

"As it relates to Sirianni”?  He’s not the problem.  He’s just a pawn.  But I do think it’s cute that Howie feels compelled to sit with him during PC’s now.

He's a pawn... I see...  I was kinda hoping he might prove to be a good coach...

What "told you so years”?  Can’t wait to hear this.  Go ahead.   Try and pretend like you know.  Please.  Because it’s been since 2018 I have been beating the table.  But nice try.

Man, you're a combative son-of-a-gun...  I'm not pretending at anything...  just trying to figure out your perspective...

So, you don't think they meddled with Doug?  This is all post-Super Bowl?

I don’t think getting lucky on a bunch of free agents, losing multiple starters to injury, your back up quarterback getting hot at the right time, and giving up the most passing yards in the history of the Super Bowl to the greatest quarterback to ever play, is a recipe I would try and duplicate

Multiple reports they tried to fire him after his first year, and replace him with Jim Schwartz.
