Interesting observation on the ITB podcast… the Rams don’t really play starters or key reserves in the preseason due to McVay being big into sports science. We recently hired Rath from the Rams as a leader in our sports science department.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

You just cost me $40,000,000,000,000. 40. Trillion. Dollars. And one Cadillac. That’s right. What are you going to do about it? What are you going to do about it, A-hole.

"...common sense and community."

Also, according to Mosher, over the past three years the Rams are among the lowest in the NFL in players lost to IR.

The Eagles franchise chose to abstain from preseason well before Sirianni and well before this preseason.  Just another little nugget in the pile of evidence that Lurie and Howie are involved in calling day-to-day shots with the team and that the HC just needs to be on board with the plan.

As to 2017, Howie struck gold in signing Chris Long and his personality, Nick’s like ability and Celek’s will to go out on top are every bit as responsible for the success as Howie.  But he failed to see that it wasn’t just the band, it was the rhythm of that song and he has performed subpar since then.  You point to rebuilding after Chip as justifying his performance going forward.  I point to the Dream Team and his failure post 2017 as a reason to reevaluate and move on.

Yup.  Lightning in a bottle only happens once.

Ok.  Well then you can kindly ignore my takes.  I don’t care if he, you or anyone has a problem with an avatar from 10 years ago.  That’s a little petty on his part.  But whatever.  And I only calls name of people who cowardly call me out.  I wouldn’t have seen it if you didn’t quote him.

No one is not giving Sirianni a fair shake.  Well no one in here.  I’d argue Lowie isn’t giving him a fair shake.  That’s what all of this is about.  And people like to downplay it.

Did I say I had a problem with your avatar?  No. I merely identified your prior name and avatar to Veej.  Petty?  How so?  Are you embarrassed by the former avatar?  Your former name?   I cowardly called you out?  How exactly did I call you out by offering to Veej your former identity on the board when he was on it. Again with the failed reading comprehension.

No one is not giving Sirianni a fair shake?  You continually attack him as a yes man with no backbone. Are you backing off of that stance?  Glad to hear you are joking Veej and giving Sirianni a fair shake.

Nice to hear. Such an awesome history.  Of all the places in Africa, Egypt is tops on my list.

But as we celebrate our service members service, USAID is pretty impressive too.  That is truly a relationship building effort.  Thanks for doing that for us.

No need to thank me.  Trip of a lifetime, and I was paid handsomely for it.

Eagles haven't taken the preseason seriously in years... I think that they went after a guy like Rath because his philosophy fits with the Eagles brass' philosophy, rather than him coming in and changing their minds about the preseason.

Sirianni was hired to be a yes man with no backbone.  That doesn't mean he is one.  As we so often see, the people Howie brings in often don't pan out as he expects.

I really don’t have a problem with the owner and GM having overarching philosophies that they want their HC to adhere to. I do have a problem with them stepping in and saying "fire this guy and hire this guy.”

I don’t think anybody said they’re not going to give him a fair shake, but to some of us it’s pretty clear that he’s already been set up to fail because of the meddling from Howie

I said the other day that I suspect Sirianni’s future is tied to Howie’s. But I question the degree to which Howie meddles as opposed to seeking collaboration to the point of failure. What worries me is that Sirianni and Gannon and their selections as coaches have success to the level that we are stuck with Howie.  I more want to see Howie moved than the coaches, who may be ideal for a rebuild.

I think that has to do with a lot more than preseason snaps, so hopefully that other stuff makes the difference.  Last year's OL troubles started with Dillard injured in TC practice, Brooks injured during a workout, and Johnson not healing with rehab only and needing surgery right before the season.   I don't think that they had any significant injuries during the preseason, at least not of any players of note.

I don't mind it as long as I agree with it.

There's an in-between. It's not "blow it up the team is finished" or "invest all of your resources to try again". It's about making hard decisions, evaluating your roster clearly (ya know, trying to be ahead on the evaluation), having direction and a vision for the team and how they can win games. Teams like the Steelers are competitive almost every year because they're able to make hard decisions.

Damn kid, when did you get so wise.

I absolutely do. if the coach feels he needs preseason, he should be able to play his guys in the preseason. You can't have these kinds of decisions coming from guys upstairs.

It can be a collaboration... but if it's absolutely mandated by the GM or owner, it's a bad look and poor process IMO.

And they have an owner who steps away and let’s the football minds make the decisions.  Oh and they have football minds making the decisions.  Not a bean counter.

But yeah.  That other stuff too.

The Rooney family has never stepped away.  That’s a fallacy.  The NFL is a greater organization because of the Rooneys.

Steelers have been able to benefit from a weak division for awhile though. For years it's been either Steelers or Ravens. Browns are finally competitive. Bengals are trying to turn things around

What team has been constantly on top or near the top with a strong division?

None, welcome to parity in a Roger Goodell world.

Thanks for this tidbit. That is a very interesting observation.

Hargrave was significant. Sanders was less but still missed week 1 and hampered him for a few weeks. Parks was out for awhile, I don’t know how significant he was but arguably our 3rd Safety. Barnett also missed some time in the beginning. Unless you mean specifically O-line.

I believe he's referring to their meddling with day to day team operations.

Incidentally, the Rooneys were a laughingstock in the NFL before they brought in Chuck Noll.  Nice, generous guy in Art Rooney, but the Steelers pre-early 70s were on par with the Lions of today.  Horrible football team for 4 decades.

Best line from that movie, other than Alex Baldwin’s motivational speech, was Jack Lemmon telling Kevin Spacey "A man IS his job, and you are crap at yours!”

Barnett gets a shoulder injury getting out of bed in the morning.

Dude, I don’t think we are more aligned on Howie has to go than since we were aligned on Jefferson and I think we were aligned on Howie even before he blew that pick.
