If Lane Johnson goes down, what is their next move?  That’s a major question no one is asking.

Do they put Dillard at RT where they know he is a train wreck?  Or do they put Dillard at LT and flip Mailata to RT?

This figures to happen a few times this year, so they should have a scripted plan in advance.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Dillard played well. He's taking a deeper set than he did previously. He reset well against the bull rush. His run blocking was excellent. He moved well. He's still got good feet. Pretty damn good for his first action in more than a year.

Opeta played himself off the team, I think. No anchor.

Driscoll played well. He was secure. He looked stronger to me than last year.

Pryor was bad.

It's bad.  Andrew Adams is a disappointment.  I know he didn't play tonight but I see no reason to keep K'Vonn Wallace on the team either.  He really hasn't flashed at all and is too one-dimensional.  The rest of the DB are JAG after JAG after JAG.  The only advantage they have over any street CB/S or potential claim is their knowledge of the current playbook.

Antony Harris, Steve Nelson and Darius Slay will be OK.  Maddox SHOULD be OK in the slot but I think he still needs to compete and should have played.  Epps should be the starter next to Harris and S3 once McCleod is back but we have no idea how he's even going to look and when.  McPhearson has shown some ability but also shown his limitations.

I've said it a few times now.  I'd be more than happy with at least 6 claims come roster cuts.  Bring me CB5 and after last night 2 safeties.

You concluded all that without the All 22.  That’s impressive.   James didn’t play, who is likely the 5th CB.  (Although that may be Scott.)  Wallace still out.  Both dinged up  Maybe waiver wire DBs are better, maybe not.  What I did see of Adams didn’t impress. But then Countess was playing well from what we could see. Epps probably retained his role as #3 S.

Next year looks to be a deep DB class.  I do hope that the Eagles grab a couple at least in the first two days.

Driscoll plays RT.  Notice that he was the first reserve they sat yesterday.

Pryor was awful.   They left Opeta on an island most of the night.  His best block was a double with Herbig.  I think Toth replaces Opeta on the roster.  Now Dillard is hands down superior to Pryor and that helped Toth a bit but he anchored well and he and Dillard did a good job of playing shoulder to shoulder to close the gap.  Pryor not only is bad for his own block, he offers no support to the player next to him.  I suspect the roster was set with all of the starting OL plus all of the starters last night except Opeta, who is PS bound again, maybe.   I really tried to watch Awosika last night because several of the beats tagged him as a risk to make the PS.  Didn’t see it.  I think it may be valuing the 1 on 1s too much by them.  Awosika will do fine maturing on the PS and may well take Opeta’s position there.  I am no where as observant as you on the OL, but it seems to me that Herbig is better as a C than G.  Speaking of Cs, Pierschbacher may have earned a PS position last night.

Not sure if being snarky or not but I'm just posting my post-game takes like a lot of others do.  From watching the game, I'm not impressed with the DBs.  We agree that Epps is safety 3 who can spot start.

The problem with James is he always seems to be hurt.  His strength is his ST play as a gunner but his weakness is his health.  Can't rely on that.  What has Wallace done to show he belongs on the team when healthy?

I posted about Kevon Seymor right after the game.  I think he was the best CB last night.  He made some nice plays on the ball.

Jaquet got abused last year when he had to start and wasn't impressive to me playing this year.  The TD against him was bad.  Whiffed on his jam then lost the WR and didn't time his jump right.

The class next year is very deep and they could revamp the secondary if they draft well.  Until then, I'd much rather bring in a few guys post waivers rather than more of the guys we've been seeing.

I was impressed with Dillard's feet in space, nice block on the second level (which isn't easy for a lot of OL), nice pull, good feet in PP. You can see why Stoutland likes him, a lot of athleticism to work with, I can possibly see a move to LG, a la Mathis.

Opeta is strictly straight line, no future.

Driscoll is the #6 OL until Dickerson is ready, should be solid at RT if needed and got his feet wet at OG

Toth had a good showing I thought, he's been adequate at LT and didn't look out of place at LG, should be the 9th/10th OL.

Pryor's size has kept him around, but it's one thing to have slow feet, don't compound it with poor body control. He just looks awkward.

Herbig looked more comfortable at center and has nailed the backup job.

Gainwell is a natural receiver at RB and ran better than I expected with good vision and swerve.

Holyfield runs with power but that's about it, and he keeps whiffing in pass protection, the kiss of death.

JJAW actually looked like a real NFL WR, I think he has the edge on Fulgham. But HIghtower may have an edge on both, except he looked awful as a KR.

Epps was the best looking safety, Adams is on the bubble, Stevens didn't show much but he lost a bunch of time due to injury while making a transition to LB, PS is calling.

Scott is vying for the backup nickel, Jacquet showed just enough for the PS.

There will be a lot of churn next week.

I think it is Driscoll

How did this not get mentioned last night? We have Jim Bob??

I really like this trade. 6th rounder not as valuable to us in 2022 given we have so many picks (they can't all make the roster). It doesn't stop our ability to get a QB later. Minshew is signed until 2022, so we have a cheap backup next year...who can hopefully replace Flacco.

What if Flacco gets butthurt like Wentz did tho with Minshew breathing down his neck?

QB factory in effect!

Yet every single former and current player says the same thing "playing in games is different than playing in practice”.

Yup.  We'll see in two weeks what the final result of this really is.

And 18 practices in 28 days.  That's nuts for reps.  Just not enough reps.   Did they have any '2 a days'?  Sure doesn't sound like it.  Installing a new system on offense and defense and just not having the reps on the field is a concern.  They punted on OTAs and did it virtually.  They limited contact in TC.  They limited reps in the preseason games.  It makes you wonder how ready they really are to come out and play against Atlanta.

Nick Mullens was that bad. Don’t hate it Minshew is a good backup

Admittedly, I did not watch the 2nd half...  but, guys from the 1st half that I thought played well were: first, obviously Gainwell - that looks like a really nice draft pick... I thought Andre Dillard played very well - he's pretty nimble for a big guy, if they can improve his anchor some, more the better... that was a very nice performance by Joe Flacco - he plays like that you may have the best back-up QB in the league... T. Y. McGill looked very good - he should make the roster... Shaun Bradley looked quite good, though he's prob headed for the PS...  Josiah Scott, Marlon Tuipulotu, Tarron Jackson, Jason Huntley prob PS bound too...

Given that this team was being revamped over the off-season, it's really no surprise at all that depth will be an issue... prob the reason Sirianni was so careful with his starters...  I don't agree with not getting Hurts more reps, but I can see the logic elsewhere in the line-up...

The bottom of this roster should be churning all season long, and I'll venture a guess that this team's initial 53 is NOT the 53 that is on the roster just about 48 hours later.   They should be scouring that waiver wire, desperately looking for some DBs, some LBs, and maybe a WR.  Maybe they could flip Ertz for a young LB.  I don't know.   I just see the last 8 slots on the roster as being fairly ho-hum.

I'll be doing a 53 man projection later today.  The first 40 or so should be easy.  that last 13 could go a number of ways.  And frankly, quite a few of them will likely be gone in a few days after that initial list.

They will likely put Driscoll back at RT.  He looked good there for his brief stint last night.  I think he's RT2 and they let Mailata roll at LT.  At least, that's what I'd do.

Agreed on all points.  Opeta has been a major disappointment this preseason.  And he, frankly, was really bad in his stint last year as well.

Interested in hearing your thoughts on Toth at LG.  I thought he looked pretty decent there.  Still some work to do obviously, but he didn't look out of place.

Such is usually the case...  especially for teams without depth...

Good breakdown on Minshew from a Colts blogger in 2020

https://www.stampedeblue.com/2020/9/8/21363578/2020-opponent-scouting-report-jaguars-offense-gardner-minshew-is-better-than-he-should-be

He's got a lot of upside left, bounced around in college, could use work on footwork and mechanics, for a 6th rd pick and 2 years of control, definitely worth it.

Probably wise to carry 3 QB on the roster as Hurts plays to contact and Flacco is older.  Not a fan of Minshew at all, but he's better than Mullens without question.

Minshew to the Eagles!!!! Get your porn stache ready!!!!! 😂😂😂😂

Jacquet showed just enough for the PS.

Really?  He looked to be a guy that you churn his spot to get a look at someone else.  He was terrible early last night and they kept him on the field the entire time.  Seems they were giving him a long look.  Ironically, by not making the smart play and taking the knee after the fumble recovery (which was his lone high point) he was exposed in the 2 minute drill as a poor tackler, as time and time again, he was the one they targeted and got receptions and out of bounds a bunch of times going against him.

Agreed.  I think the number of acquisitions will be higher than a 'normal' year though.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them reach out to some Indy or Minnesota cast offs.

Great move by the eagles  , I think Minshew can play and win in the NFL

It's a 16 man PS, lot's of room to churn.
