Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Watson to the Dolphins is not ideal...that pick will take a big hit.

Will it? Guy isn't going to play for at least 6 games from reports and who knows how the trials will go. IF he plays then yeah it will.

Either way it sounds like Tua and Darnold are loved by their teams.

Your comparing completely different situations. Rams needed the cap space, Texans are currently under the cap by over 24 mill. A Watson trade would be nothing like the Rams and Goff situation. Its like comparing Apples to a Cheesesteak

Damn, how over the top do I have to go to get across this was a joke and a reflection on how little I would want a trade for Watson.  The Flacco as a playoff and Super Bowl QB and Stafford not being one did not suggest that?  How about $35 million against the cap next year and the burden it would be on a team aging in the trenches in the middle of a rebuild?

I could see teams trading for him now when it was just a civil case, but the FBI has been involved. I still think prison is very unlikely, but it’s a possibility now at least when it wasn’t before. I just can’t see a team trading for him right now with that hanging over unless the price was unbelievably cheap.

Well you have said some incredibly dumb posts before. For future reference might be best for you not to joke around since no one really knows with you.

I can’t say the lions just didn’t want goff whatsoever. They were willing to roll with him for a year to see what he could do since they were gonna suck anyway and could be the place holder til they did find the one.

However everyone around the NFL knew in order for the Rams to make any moves at quarterback they need to get Jared Goff contract off the books with a trade. They couldnt have just release him because he wouldn’t have gotten the cap space needed in order to make the move to acquire Matthew Stafford. It had to be a trade. I put out there Rams, national writers and evening 49ers beat writer explain why the lions got two firsts. Niners and Rams were willing to give up a first and a little more for Stafford. But the lions got a first for taking Goff back and they viewed it as well if he winds up having success fine if he sucks then he’s just the placeholder but we still wind up with an extra first.

Really the league knew the Rams had to trade goff to get Stafford so they were always going to have to do something similar to the osweiller trade for it to happen.

The FBI is investigating accusers for extortion.

Chances are he's probably be requesting a pay raise within 1-2 years as well.

Based off everything i read from that article and people retweeting on Twitter that florio speculated the price is dropping from the Texans or they are willing to accept conditions on the picks (like amount of games he plays) they are receiving back in a trade (which is what i said could happen a couple weeks back)

More misinformation from you.  You keep saying accusers plural when it is only one accuser they are looking into for extortion.

You really don’t think they are looking into all of them as part of that investigation ??

Anyone remember me saying we will get another QB, yesterday?   Yeah, so do I.

My son said we should get Minshew a few weeks ago. I told him I didnt see the Eagles trading for him, just didnt make sense with the Flacco signing. If he was released, maybe. 2 points for the young padawan

The Eagles are notorious for wasting roster spots on guys who could be on IR or who have no business playing.

I can se them keeping McLeod, Dickerson and Jackson, Taylor, Avery all on the active roster to go along with Minshew which takes 6 open slots rather than putting Rodney and Dickerson on PUP, Jackson on IR and QB3 who never dresses.  Now I think they should keep Jackson on the original 53 so they can short term IR him after week 1

My thoughts as well

I actually think it makes sense long term. Minshew is cheap the next two years. Can be the backup up in 2022 and if he walks after that year and signs a decent contract in FA could potentially get a comp pick back.

Our starters are above preseason games.  Josh Allen playing today and throwing dimes.

$35 million next year fully guaranteed. $37 million the following year fully guaranteed in March 2022.  Further, he has a no trade clause and would need to agree to any trade.  If the media is right and the Eagles have the worst roster in the NFL, why would he want to come here?

On the other side, Mailata is in the final year of his contract. Arguably with the poison pill, so is Kelce but he likely retires. How do you extend him?  Five of the starters on defense are on one year contracts.   That side of the ball desperately needs a rebuild but if they trade a load of picks and any cap space to add Watson, that goes by the wayside.

The Eagles trading for Watson at this point would be putting lipstick on a pig.

Another panthers reporter saying the same thing. So really if a trade is getting done now the panthers are either out or leaking things to make it seem like they are out. I tend to think they are just out and this is all a last ditch effort by houston to try to get a deal done knowing the upcoming legal cases with watson might go sideways and they could get left with nothing

Yes I was not buying that article. When ever two or more teams are mentioned, its click bait to get teams to bid higher. If only one team is mentioned it has more meat on it to be true.

We don’t know how close McLeod or Dickerson are but it makes sense to PUP both. Taylor might make sense as a short term IR like Jackson.  Isn’t Avery day to day?

I liked Minshew in the draft as a late round shot for a back up QB.  Given Hurts’ game and Flacco’s injury history lately and age, grabbing Minshew makes sense.  I also like the idea of Flacco as trade bait that Afan posited. Could get us that sixth or maybe even better back.  Flacco has helped that value this Preseason, I suspect. Certainly had little value with the Jets last year.

Yeah he’s not playing at $35 million.  his contract if you look after 2022 there’s minimal guaranteed money besides potentially 2023 (when the cap drastically is expected to increase). It is structured so that it could be restructured and lower his cap number. That cap number is likely not gonna be the number for whatever team he’s getting traded too.

go look at his 2023 numbers. it’s 42 mil but with a dead cap of just 10 mil if release or traded (becomes fully guaranteed in March 2022 (5th day of the new league year) which I’m guessing before it even gets to that point his contract is restructured). His 2024 is $37 mil with just 5 I’m dead money. Whether or not he’s traded to the Eagles (still think unlikely he’s traded) that contract the Houston Texans signed him to was set up so that in 2022 they could potentially restructure it and lower that cap number.

Also ever said he’d want to play here. However i also know if your suitors like Denver (reportedly out), Carolina (reported by beat writers now— out at this time)and hypothetically the Dolphins say they rather just roll with tua right now cause of the legal issues then his options begin to dwindle on getting out of Houston and he’s either gonna have to wait til the offseason (i think Most likely) or go somewhere he might not have be his top destination.

I don’t think any trade happens until this next off-season but I do think the Texans could be trying to make push because they might have more of a fear now that they could wind up with nothing if the legal ramifications go sideways

Would have loved this trade for Minshew before signing Flacco. Curious timing considering the wasted guaranteed money we put into Flacco.
