What’s wrong with doing both ? Practice and game

I mean it’s not like they are hitting hard and tackling in practice reps , nor would starters be logging many reps in game .

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Imagine reading this if you're Tua

Idk there’s been that constant rumor going on since the middle of last year with tua. I believe there was a report guys in the locker room really didn’t believe in him.

Hurts isn't a baby, he's used to fighting for his job. He's not going to pout b/c Minshew is a credible threat or Flacco won a SB.

He's going to do his best by quenching any controversy on the field, and if he fails, he'll accept the coach's decision with grace and prepared to come off the bench.

A bit different from some other starting QBs in Philly.

Interesting article breaking down revenue sharing for the NFL.  If this article is correct and I am understanding it correctly, does that mean that all 32 teams share merchandising completely equally?

So a 15-1 team in a major market with 10 pro-bowlers and iconic players that move more merchandise than the bottom 10 franchises combined still takes 1/32 of the total pool?

Would be stunned if he got traded now even with pick protections.

I tend to agree. however i don’t see how the Texans or team trading for him could even make a deal without the protections and his legal situation being what it is.

Yep they split it amongst all teams

The perks of having a starting QB with backup level talent and experience at losing his job.

I also think if that report is accurate, it takes some kinda balls by Watson to be picky about where you get dealt, when he should be grateful for any team who would trade for him with all this stuff. Kinda tone deaf tbh. It would be a major risk by any team, not just with the picks but with fan sentiment within their own fan bases.

Our starters are above preseason games.  Josh Allen playing today and throwing dimes.

That’s a throw Hurts could only dream of

Eagles are rebuilding. They got a cheap asset that allows them to flip Flacco if an injury occurs to a playoff team. Or at worst they have a cheap #2 for 2022.

It's not like the 53 player who will now get waived is likely to be anyone we'll cry over.

We don’t know how close McLeod or Dickerson are but it makes sense to PUP both. Taylor might make sense as a short term IR like Jackson.  Isn’t Avery day to day?

I liked Minshew in the draft as a late round shot for a back up QB.  Given Hurts’ game and Flacco’s injury history lately and age, grabbing Minshew makes sense.  I also like the idea of Flacco as trade bait that Afan posited. Could get us that sixth or maybe even better back.  Flacco has helped that value this Preseason, I suspect. Certainly had little value with the Jets last year.

It makes sense for Dickerson. It only makes sense for McLeod if his timeline puts him past 6/7 weeks. Otherwise your just giving up on one of your starters for almost half the season.

Would have loved this trade for Minshew before signing Flacco. Curious timing considering the wasted guaranteed money we put into Flacco.

Yup. I love the trade in a vacuum, but the process of how it came to be, not really.

Based off beat writers for the Broncos and panthers, neither of those teams are willing to deal for him right now due to legal situation and QBs they are going into the season with (Broncos i still think want to go all in on rodgers next offseason thats who they’ve been tied to and rumored with all offseason). I think he’s be fine with Carolina or Denver. I think before this legal stuff he he listed both fo them.

Imo it really always came down to Miami and the eagles for watson once the panthers traded for darnold (unless he was just awful in camp and preseason— he wasn’t), niners got lance and Broncos more tied to rodgers. To me watson has always wanted to go to Miami. I think it’s his top destination. I’d argue out of the 4 teams reporyed trying for him it’s the best team to go to but arguably worse city for him to be in considering everything surrounding him.

So the only inter-franchise variability and therefore financial incentive to be competitive is home ticket sales/concessions and local sponsorships.

I can't imagine there is THAT much variation in stadium revenue.  Attendance range of 45,000-70,000 with average ticket prices $110-$150 for 8-10 home games per year.  That isn't that many millions in difference.  Add in concessions of course.  Then multiply that difference by 60% since the rest is shared.

So that really leaves the difference between the Cowboys and the Jaguars as corporate sponsorships, I would assume.

Your gonna have to change your rebuild tune when we get Watson

I have him on ignore but something stood out to me on this when I saw it quoted by another.

Whats this "We'll" crap? ...........Hes a Steelers fan.

I disagree with the Eagles' approach to preseason, especially considering their inexperience, but I don't strongly disagree with it.  We'll just see how ready the team is in week 1.  We had this exact same debate last year and said the same thing.  They looked horrible early last season.  But then we just learned they were a horrible team.   So it didn't really settle the preseason debate.

I'm less interested in debating if they should approach the preseason like this than I am in WHO is calling these shots.  The silly hype line about Sirianni was that he is so competitive he can't handle losing RPS.  So this is the same guy who basically forfeits his first 3 opportunities to compete as a HC?  This approach to the preseason has been conserved across multiple seasons and multiple HC's now.  I wonder how much of day-to-day decisions in this franchise are dictated from above.

For me the issue is the complete lack of tackling in general during all of TC, including sitting out the preseason.  We'll see what the outcome of that is.  But, limited practice, extremely limited tackling and then very limited 'live reps'.  It is a cause for concern.

So you say, but the proof is in the pudding.

Minshew makes no sense on this team.  Whether if Watson is QB1 or Hurts, having he and Flacco in the QB room makes no sense at all.  This is weird.

It makes sense for 2022 when Flacco will be gone.  But, if you can make the move now for the cost of a 6th round pick (maybe 5th...) then you do it because he's under team control for 2 years.

Funny how with most players with moral issues we hear people saying they don't want him no matter what, but I haven't heard a thing about Watson.

Wonder if the drop out team is the Eagles.  That’s a little rich for a player that doesn’t want to be there and a team that acts like they don’t want him there. That’s also the price we have been hearing all along.

Miami makes the most sense of these teams because Florida has no state income tax. It would just be a sound financial decision.

Not only that if he walks after 2022 and gets a nice deal to compete for a starting job on a team that needs a bridge QB you might get a comp pick out of all this.
