This season shall tell us a lot about the future of this team. It is all up in the air at this point in time (as you mentioned) and can go either way. For there to be a chance I think players like Sanders need to be kept, otherwise we are giving in to full rebuild mode now.

Maybe the future of the WRs and possibly the QB but the OL is nearing the end, the DL is there and a good portion of the back seven are rentals at this point.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

I'm talking about these kind of numbers

NFL's highest paid running backs  (average salary per year):

  • 1. Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey: $16 million
  • 2. Saints RB Alvin Kamara: $15 million
  • 2. Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott: $15 million
  • 4. Vikings RB Dalvin Cook: $12.6 million
  • 5. Titans RB Derrick Henry: $12.5 million
  • 6. Packers RB Aaron Jones: $12 million
  • 7. Bengals QB Joe Mixon: $12 million
  • 8. Broncos RB Melvin Gordon: $8 million
  • 9. Giants RB Saquon Barkley: $7.8 million
  • 10. Chargers RB Austin Ekeler: $6.1 million

Mailata shows promise, Lane Johnson is only 31, he has a few seasons yet as well as being on the lesser important side. Dickerson could be Kelce's replacement if he stays healthy.

That would be the 3 more important positions taken care of, as for guard they will see what they have with Herbig and the rest of the posse.

Key thing is Stoutland is still around.

Frankly he’s not better than the top 6 on that list.  mixon is overpaid and overrated so his agent did a great job with that contract (Barkley is still on a rookie deal). I wouldn’t pay sanders anywhere close to that top 7 money. I don’t think he’s proven he’s in the same class as 6 of those top 7

With McCoy I had to look it up but they paid him based off what I could find an average annual salary of 9 million a year. So they’re not afraid to pay the running back position if they believe the guy is worth it

That's why I said worried

Despite my complete lack of faith in the FO, I don’t think that’s a mistake they’ll make.  I think it would take someone with a Westbrook-like impact on the offense…huge weapon in the passing game too..:for them to reach into the wallet for a mega RB deal.

I think the Eagles would pay him good money that they feel is the right amount. I looked it up McCoy got 9 million last year he was here. So i could see the eagles paying him if it’s in a range they find acceptable. If it’s $12 mil a year i think they should look to deal him cause i don’t think paying a rb that money is worth it unless he’s elite.

True, they have shown to move on from RBs quickly.

"With the Dolphins not inclined to bid against themselves, any trade discussion has reached an impasse.”

That quote goes back to what I said earlier today I think this came down to the dolphins and the Eagles. Watson wasn’t willing to go to the Eagles. the dolphins said to themselves why are we gonna pay a premium price to the Texans when we’re the only team that’s really in this market to make the move that he’s willing to go to. Hence why all this information got leaked today by the Texans to try and create a bigger market as the eagles are out, Denver and Carolina have indicated they are out (according to beat writers). It’s really just the dolphins

Mailata’s contract runs out this year.  Let’s see how Lane’s ankle hold up after two years of missing time.  Dickerson hasn’t proven anything yet.  Not saying all couldn’t pan out and Mailata extended but we aren’t there yet.

As with much of this team, it is going to be a very telling year. Which is why I am looking so much forward to it. I don't expect greatness, but I hope they will establish a positive foundation for the future.

This is going to be a great corner class coming up. Have to get one

This is coming from Aaron Wilson, who is usually right.

Hope Watson doesn't change his mind. Seems like the Dolphins will be bidding against themselves.

If Philly was his only option to get out he would waive his no trade clause

I think this has the potential to completely blow up in the Texans face even more than it already has. Lets say the season continues with Watson not playing. If tua plays well for the dolphins they’re not gonna make that trade. If Darnold plays well for Carolina they’re not gonna make that trade. The Broncos have been about going after Aaron Rodgers according to all the reporters this upcoming off-season and even before he went back to gb. So if they get Aaron Rodgers thus off-season then all three teams that Deshaun Watson would drop his no trade clause are out of it. Now there could be other teams that get involved that want him like the Giants, raiders but they are almost in the same boat as the Eagles

Watson might not have the dolphins nor panthers as suitors if darnold and tua play well this year.  Why I think a small part of the news came from Watson’s camp attempting to get himself to the Panthers or dolphins before the start of the season.

Normally I would say Watson is immensely better at his best than either one of those guys and gives you a better chance to win but they don’t have the legal ramifications going on. Also if they play well this season and have success and those teams think they can win long term with them, why would they make the move giving up draft capital for a guy who has legal issues and questionable character? This is a reason i could see Watson wanting a deal done now as opposed to later as there’s more risk those two suitors are off the board next offseason.

As usual with anything related to Deshaun Watson in 2021, I have no idea what to think. Giving up on Tua makes no sense to me.

I would agree but then again I saw the Cardinals give up draft compensation to go get Josh Rosen and the very next off-season move on from him.

Who the F are "league sources”?  No Watson sources, not team sources but "league sources”. Maybe that is Howie who when asked said, "of course we did our due diligence, we check out any possibility as to improving our team but Watson has given no indication he would waive his no trade clause”.  Nips the rumor in the bud.  If so, the smartest thing Howie has done as a GM (low bar).

The best scenario for any team not the Texans is to let the whole thing play out.  Make the Texans and Watson simmer together and let the criminal, civil actions transpire and the NFL to actually negotiate.  How much do the Texans think Watson will increase in trade value when they start Taylor in two weeks.   This whole news blitz thing reeks of desperation on the part of the Texans

Yup. I felt that way earlier today that the leaks coming out feel like they are from the Texans and desperation

One?  Howie f’n owes us three DBs and at least a couple DL this coming draft. Of course that means the moron will pick the weakest position in the draft and show everyone that he thinks he is smarter than everyone and is as dumb as box of rocks.  He will draft a CB and a DE the third day.

If Lurie wasn’t a woke meddling spazz, his eyes would be opened to the following:

-Watson doesn’t want to come here.

-Wentz wanted to leave.

-Howie is the least trusted GM in the league, in the eyes of the agents.

-They had to hire the 10th guy they interviewed to be HC.

- Sudden and steep decline of the team.

But, as it stands.  He’ll give Howie and Sirianni a few years.  He’s the problem.  Not Howie.  Not Doug.  Not Nick.  Not Wentz.  Not Hurts.  Lurie!   And I don’t see him being enlightened enough, in the near future, to change course.  Get used to it guys.  We have become the Jaguars of the NFC.  Unless the fans revolt and stop showing up.

Between the Phillies, eagles, Flyers off and on make and miss playoffs and the saga of Ben Simmons/wasting embiid’s prime years we are possibly in a really crappy time in Philly sports as a fan. Not as bad as some other points in time but still somewhat depressing
