If we break this down.. "I knew I wasn't playing up to my potential... "  But he wants to blame the Philly fans for voicing the same criticism that he had for himself.

Grow up, pro athletes.  The criticism comes with the paycheck.  If you don't want the public scrutiny, you are welcome to take a 9-5 job working for UPS, if you'd like.  Of course, people will complain about you as you work for them as well, when their deliveries are later than they expect, but you'll be able to point to someone else, likely the corporate structures, to deflect blame away from yourself.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Someone in my family tree fought at Antietam. Saw someone with the same last name that was in the battle, looked it up, and he was my great-great-grandfather (or something..don't remember how many "greats"). My wife has descendants that stormed Bunker Hill, and her family is still pretty rebellious.

One of my great great grandfathers was at the Siege of Vicksburg.  Later hooked up with Sherman in GA.  A lot of my wife’s ancestors and relatives fought for the South and some for the north.  More difficult to trace where because the families did not pass that down.  I am working on it.  Pension records are useful.

Unit rosters are also of use, which can usually be tied to where the individual was at the time.   The migrations are interesting as well.  Wasn’t just the Homestead Act and gold discoveries that lead to migrations as the history books suggest and then later the industrial revolution.  A lot of migration was a young man working westward.  But those migrations at times lead to forgotten "in between” spots where the person might have signed up to join the group he fought with in the war.

The good thing about that book is that you can pick it up and put it down.   I read it over the course of a year.

which book?  Grant's autobiography or Chernow's?

I think Longstreet was underrated , he and Grant were actually good friends .

Doesn't it concern you that he was a healthy scratch for that many games? Maybe it's the Texans being dumb, but I find it difficult to believe they just would refuse to dress him if he was good.

In the games he did play, he averaged 3.6 catches per game, with 41 yards per game. That's not good.

Also, JJAW is 6'2, 225 compared to Coutee's 5'11, 180 lbs frame. It's very possible our coaches want that bigger bodied receiver to complement our smaller guys.

Again, Coutee has had some nice flashes and ultimately is a better receiver than JJAW. For the make up of this team, and for what Coutee really brings to us, I don't see the value in bringing him in. I just don't think he's that good.

If it wasn’t Texans I would be more concerned. They are the most dysfunctional team in the entire NFL which is an accomplishment they took the mantle from the browns now. However you also have to look at last year they had Fuller, cooks, Cobb and even stills for a couple games so he was always going to be inactive for some until some got injured or suspended.

again coutee wasn’t  the number one or number two or even number three wide receiver at a times on the texans. You think 3 receptions for 41 yards is bad. Jjaw’s in the 24 games he’s played is 0.58 receptions for 11.5 yards. Also coutee missed all those games being inactive last year and was still 4th leading receiver on that team behind Fuller, cooks and Cobb (400 yards on 33 receptions in 8 games, which means his 16 game pace was 66 receptions for 800 yards)

I never said he was great. I said he was better than jjaw and he still young at 24 years old. I’d much rather take a chance on a guy who has shown way more flashes than JJAW and arguably as good on special teams. Eagles arent winning anything this year anyways so would I rather have and see what the guy who’s shown way more potential flashes than jjaw.

tbh i don’t think coutee is picked up. i could see a team like the Jets picking him up any way

Exactly. You want to go after wentz for not being vaccinated go ahead but the most important players and pillars on the Colts besides wentz are also non vaccinated.

I’m not going after wentz.   It was a simple question and not solely related to him not being vaccinated

I actually thought Auman’s reporting seemed odd  , but who knows

It’s been noon for a long time, but it got switched this year for some reason. If it is indeed 4.

It was directed more towards Doyle writing an article about selfish wentz. Meanwhile 3 players the colts badly need to stay healthy and team captains making the same choice he doesn’t have the same tone with them. And please don’t give me he is the quarterback because they arent winning enough games to be a Super Bowl contender if Darius Leonard, Nelson and Kelly aren’t out there for the majority of the season.

That's on my list of 'someday' books.   Is Chernow's book the one that the documentary "Grant" on the History Channel was based on?

Yes, it is. Chernow is also an executive producer of the documentary.

Who is anticipated to be put on short term IR? Tyree, Taylor, Avery?

I thought the deadline for putting the practice squad together was 4pm today -- and that can't be done until the league notifies the teams which players have been awarded on their respective claims.

It would seem really hurried to do the waiver wire claims and practice squad submissions so close together, but anything is possible.

Yea, I think that might be the confusion. Waivers will be announced at 1, and then teams have 3 hours to make a corresponding move if awarded a player as well as put their PS together by 4?

Off topic, but this election sign was put up on my street today:

Makes even more sense why they went out and got Herndon from the Jets now. Although Herndon has disappointed for the Jets

We'll be reading similar news about Herndon by the end of October.

Unfortunately he'd be the most qualified of the candidates.

I don't answer my doorbell at all anymore; between the krishnas and door-to-door peddlers, and now we're having both a civic and federal election coming -- it almost drives me to contemplate going Eastwood:

If Herndon can get right, that offense could be scary.  Maybe having top notch skill guys around him will get him going.  Dude has a ton of talent.
