Congrats to Carson, he's had a good year with the Colts.  Yes it's mostly running game but he's protected the ball very well this year overall.   Frank is getting the best out of him because he's not putting it all on him.   But yes Jonathan Taylor is really the engine that drives them.

Jonathan Taylor carries the team. Wentz has improved since leaving but still nowhere close to his 2017 year.

Imagine if the Eagles had a back they could rely on to be a workhorse and not constantly get injured like the guys we have right now.

Carson Wentz is 6th in QBR and 11th in QB rating.

Jalen Hurts is 21st in QBR ( the stat that takes his rushing impact into consideration ) and 24th in QB rating.  Wentz is also 9th in TD passes.

What’s this have to do with the running back?

You act like Wentz is doing nothing.

You act like Hurts is doing nothing. I’ll add Wentz is a 6 year vet on a better roster than the one Hurts is on. Also it’s obvious Taylor is the one who drives that team. He’s the true MVP of the NFL and not the guy you and your buddy thought.

It doesn’t matter what Wentz is doing with the colts other than how it relates to our draft pick. Anyone who thinks he wasn’t done as an Eagle has some serious memory loss.

Im glad he’s gotten better than he was last year because he would likely be out of the league if he continued to play like he did. He did play a part in our only SuperBowl so I’m not just going to wish ill will on him for the rest of his life.

Wentz is water under the bridge for this team.  Its too bad that there are so many fools around here pretending that he did nothing for this franchise, because of how the end went down.  I wish him luck and hope he has much success.  He certainly has plenty of juice left in the tank, as he is demonstrating.

Remember.  In his last act for our team, he achieved what it took to get us another 1st round pick.  That was something widely doubted by the board "experts" following the trade.

Very well said. Exactly why I will always root for the guy. If not for him there is no Super Bowl

Yeah but that is never long-lived. Those workhorse type backs break down FAST.

The odds were always in our favor to get that first pick. He gets injured at the worst times but, he still has only missed 8 games in 6 years because of injury. If you want to count last year then fine, 12 games in 6 yrs.

Those weren't injury related.

A good back can give a team at least ten years of service.

I know, some like to include that because he didn't finish a season. 🤷 Still not a lot of games.

At Taylor's current pace he isn't going 10 yrs. Also most back get ditched around 28 to 30 year old mark. 10 years would put a back at about 32 years old what back recently had given a full 10 yrs of good play? Adrian Peterson was the last one I can think of and he even went to sheet after his 9th season.

Walter Peyton, Emmit Smith, AP, Marshall Faulk, and plenty other backs have given teams at least ten years. If the Colts lose their back then they’re in trouble, because their quarterback needs him to help them win games.

Yeah, but that era of allowing backs to hang around past their prime is long gone. Especially since it's been proven that you can make average RB's good with a solid line. Just look at Le'Veon, he was considered the best RB in the league.  He leaves the Steelers and has done nothing since and is pretty much hanging on by a thread at 29 years old.

In any case it would still be nice to have a back the Eagles could count on for consistent yards for at least five years. They had it from Shady and it wasn’t that long ago.

That I would be good with, no one is giving big second contracts anymore get what you can on their rookie deal and ditch them.

The Eagles got consistent play from Shady. Truth is teams just don’t run the ball as consistently as they used to. It’s not as if players aren’t sturdy anymore. The NFL just loves the pass so they make it easier to do.

I’m starting to wonder is it a good idea to give big second contracts to some of these quarterbacks as well. They’re cap killers and if they’re not good enough to win on their own you basically have a quarterback for ten years and winning nothing with them.

They really need to level the playing field when it comes to QB contracts but it won't happen. If they are playing at a high level can you really afford to ditch them and hope you hit on another one? That's risky business that turns teams into bad teams yearly

Sad thing is you can have one playing at a high level, and even breaking som franchise records, and still win nothing. See Detroit over the past decade. The Vikings gambled and went all in on Cousins hoping he would be the guy to get them over the hump, but they haven’t gotten anywhere near close as they did with Case Keemun as their quarterback. Once the Seahawks had to pay Wilson they have made the playoffs, but haven’t really been a legit SB contender.
