OK. Messages between Trump allies and extremist groups. Let's see who these "allies" are and what the messages say. Roger Stone is one thing, Mark Meadows is a different story.

Do what makes you happy. Carry on.

You've never mocked or given attention to someone that has no idea you're doing it?

Mike's gonna be really shocked to find out there's an entire thread of political pics in cvon where people or politicians are mocked entirely unbeknownst to them

Chappelle doesn't know I'm watching him on Netflix and it still makes me laugh.

Former President Donald Trump railed against the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol again on Tuesday, ahead of a hearing that’s expected to focus on his inner circle’s ties to far-right militia groups.

Trump reiterated his claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, once again referring to the panel investigating the attack on the Capitol as "Political Hacks and Thugs” on his social media platform, while saying that the committee was "formed solely for the purpose of bringing down my ‘numbers,’ or worse.”

"Isn’t it INCREDIBLE that the people who Cheated, Rigged, and Stole the 2020 Presidential Election, for which there is massive and incontestable evidence and proof… are totally protected from harm,” he wrote. "And the people that caught them cheating are being investigated. Someday soon this will change, or we won’t have a Country anymore!”

Classic hunt, giving Trump an audience and mocking him on the EMB even though Trump doesn't even know about it.

So by that logic there should never be any Congressional committee of any kind to investigate wrong-doing?

Yeah...no, that's not how it works.

If criminal wrongdoing is suspected then it should be done in conjunction with a special investigator.  Think Kenneth Star or Archibald Cox.  These hearings, by themselves, are only designed to generate public interest and influence voters.

They can present evidence to the justice department, who will investigate, if the evidence is worthy.

That's teeth.

Yea....with the DOJ.

  Really?  You're using Ken Starr as your example of an investigation done the right way?

I'm using Kenn Starr as an example of a special prosecutor used in conjunction with a congressional hearing.

Ken Starr's work was far more cravenly political than anything done by the Jan 6th Committee.  The Committee is capable of recommending charges to the DOJ with or without a Special Prosecutor.

I don't believe Starr worked with a Congressional committee. He was originally appointed to look at Whitewater, IIRC, then branched out. He sent a report to the full House I believe recommending impeachment.

Ken Starr was supposed to investigate Whitewater, but then Ken Starr found out Clinton had sex.

He was originally commissioned to look into the whitewater situation, but in the course of his investigation he was provided evidence of the Lewinsky / Clinton relationship.  At which point, he began investigating that.  A committee was then formed to politically embarrass Clinton.

Hearings back on!
