Did someone ask for the most pessimistic view possible on the state of the o-line?   team? This is too depressing on game day

He's your huckleberry, personnel-wise.

Question: Can Hurts be as good as Winston, Mariota, Carr, Glennon, Bridgewater?  Because that or a vet at the end of his career is what you might get in free agency at multiples of the cost.  Unlikely that the Eagles rebuild is done in the last draft or next year’s draft. Reality is Hurts and Minshew are probably the QBs next year.  I am good with that.  Next year is also the next step to fixing Howie’s financial mess.  Build the 2023 draft capital, develop and train the next defense, target 2023 as the start of the next run.

Winston and Bridgewater are just better passers than Hurts.  Winston is an idiot and a turnover machine, but he has ALWAYS been able to sling it and allow the WRs to make big plays and develop.  Bridgewater is a pretty polished passer who will also do a better job of getting the WRs involved and developed.  Right now, Smith and Watkins are marinating with Hurts under center.

Are either good enough?  Hell no.  Even though they are better passers, Hurts will run around enough to be comparably effective in this offense.

So from that standpoint, I'm "fine" with it.  But we aren't starting any "run" in 2023 with a rookie QB.  We are already into 2024, at best, as the window-opening ceremony.

I just said we might have the future 5 starters on the roster already, but they all have some concerns and are not sure-things.  If that's the most pessimistic view possible, what the heck are your expectations for the OL?

I wouldn't mind an under the radar vet coming in, I have no idea who that would be but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that older vets after bouncing around find a system and a coach that fits.

Rich Gannon bounced around the league before going to the raiders in his 30s winning league MVP and taking the team to the Superbowl.

Chris Chandler bounced around for a bit joined the falcons later in his career made a couple pro bowls and a super bowl appearance.

And eagles fans favorite Brad Johnson who got his start in euro league bounced around in NFL before leading the BUCS to a super bowl win and later making a pro bowl with the WFT.

Now I'm not sure whose out there that would fit any of that but finding a QB like that that would come cheaper and one wouldn't have to go through developmental growing pains would allow a team to focus on other positions.

That's CLEARLY how everyone interpreted what you said lol

He may come back...and we all hope and pray he's OK...but they can't give him a spot in the lineup.

You’d think that but then they kept bringing peters back and giving him the job.

Yeah he played like a top 10 QB the last 4 games of the year against bad teams.  Mahomes also missed 2 games.

Okay excluding the last 4 games he threw 2840yds 20TD/7INT 90 rating 62.44% comp

He actually played well in 2019 with scrubs but people like to say BS stuff like he sucked for 5 years

I just realized we are playing against Richard Sherman tonight. I wonder if our WR's can get under his skin a little bit with some trash talking and goat him into doing something stupid.

Probably not because he graduated with an awesome GPA. It would be shocking.

Reagor was my first thought lol

You don't have to ask for that with @eagle45, I think I've seen a happy post from him like 5 times in my life. It's who he is and I've learned to embrace it

Yep, agreed.  It's tough to say what's going on with Lane, and we should probably stop speculating. (I'm just as guilty as anyone...)

Lane will be back when he's ready, in the meantime we get to see a bit more of Dillard / Mailata bookends.  Shoot, if all works out, Lane can come back in a few games and maybe Dillard shows enough for us to move him for a good pick!

🤦‍♂️

If Dillard is not traded and remains on this roster, he will start more games for the Eagles both in 2021 and after 2021 than Lane Johnson.  Not sure why there is this urge to trade him.

Because... he sucks.  He's a bust.  Didn't you hear?

Can’t wait til smith dusts him with a great route and he gets nothing to show for it

I just spend too much time away from the boards being happy that the Eagles and boards are necessary to fill up on despair.

We haven't gotten there yet.  But is the scuff on Howie going away a little?

  • Hargrave is proving to be a great signing.
  • Mailata (although this is on Stoutland, Howie still had to pull the trigger)
  • Dillard has gone from bust to competent.
  • Taylor is seeing the field.
  • Wilson sucks, but Nelson and Harris are playing their roles.
  • Watkins in the sixth round and Gainwell in the fifth round.

Yes, the cap situation is a mess, mostly due to his "keep the window open" approach.

And Jones, Reagor, and JJAW will probably never be forgotten.  But the talent acquisition is trending more positive than I think we give him credit for.

No.  They won 4 games last year, still haven't got a clue about drafting WRs, and are still kicking the can into the future.

Right, but DeVonta/Watkins have the potential to be the best pair of starters in a while. I'm excited about them.

I expect Smith to go over 100 yards

Oh, I didn’t mean a Super Bowl run in 2023, I pieces in place for a mostly rebuilt team.

I thought it eminently reasonable.

There is no reason why he shouldn't get 125+
