You posed the question.

And, he was drafted to be a backup to Wentz. And he would probably be a fine 2nd string QB.

In the second round, lol.

I thought if the LB was playing the run, then we should expect a quick pass. Not sure why JH is hesitating, what the defense is doing in coverage to blowup the read or why the WRs aren’t on alert for a throw - but pulling it out and trying to outrun a scrapping LB sure ain’t the plan.

He is a young QB that doesnt completely trust that everyone is going to be where they need to be. I don't think that he is comfortable yet in this offense. It takes time to build that up with players. Every young QB goes through the same exact thing, it is just that some get that trust quicker then others. The other problem is that he is not the only young person on this team. All the WRs are young as well and I think that plays into it.

When young QB have veteran WRs to lean into, it makes it easier for them to trust what they are seeing and they start to process things quicker. It is going to take Hurts longer because of that lack of a veteran WR.

Players are always around someone though. Also players end up on the opponents side a lot

Its a stupid thing to do

But having so little talent really hampers Gannon’s ability to counter a well rounded offense like the cowpads, KC and Bucs.  Those may be the three most loaded offenses. There just aren’t the pieces.  Some talent isn’t the same as talented.

Yep. In the kind of zone schemes he wants to use, you need LBs who can drop into coverage and safeties who can explode upfield and stone RBs.

And it would help to have LBs who can tackle near the LOS, not 5 yards downfield.

How many players off this Georgia defense can we realistically draft?

Who put this LB corps together?

Hurts is just bad at reading defenses. It doesn't matter if it's RPOs or full-reads.

Doug basically called a bunch of 9 routes for him late last year. If it was single-high, throw it. If it was 2-high, throw the curl or run.

Teams of course know this, so they play 2 man against us so they can both protect against vertical shots and have 2 safeties looking at the QB. How do you beat this? Attacking the LBs...in the middle of the field...which Hurts doesn't do...oh no!

Sounds like a bad second round pick for a team that philosophically wants to pass as much as humanly possible.

1: Davis DT

2A: Anderson LEO/DE

2B: Dean LB

Not sure where the CB that transferred from Clemson gets drafted.

Zappe continues to impress me , accurate with a nice arm , hits them in stride .

love to see wildcats upset GA

GIve me as many UGA defenders as possible, one of the Cincinnati CB's and Stingley.

Georgia recruits everything so well but somehow always has meh starting QBs. Hard to believe they blew it with Fields.

I like Zamir White, but he’d wreck his knee here. Guaranteed.

Can we draft the Georgia DC Dan Lanning?

Rumor is Arch Manning's top spot is Georgia. He would be the only good QB since Stafford.

Gotta feeling this is going to wind up being one of the best Batman movies

Their best two QBs transferred out in recent years. Wild.

The whole "they should have signed Bradberry” argument is a little too convenient considering we wanted to run a man heavy scheme and he was primarily a zone corner.

OK.  Let's still argue that paying twice for an aging player isn't a good use of resources.  Paying once in trade, and once in paying market value, especially in light of this team's limited cap space and limited draft resources.

Boring, blah Iowa down seven at half at home to Purdue. They should be down more.

Wentz couldn't run a RPO either, for some reason Foles excelled at it.

I suspect it's because who he learned the skill from in the early years of his pro career, from someone who knew it well - rather being an evolution of an evolution passed down.

It's fair to say intellectually, Foles got it too.

You can argue it all you want. I liked the trade.

Sure.  Make the trade.  But don't then give him a brand new deal.   Same thing Howie did with Desean.

Everyone did when it happened. Honestly Slay has played well worth the pick and the salary. Its not his fault the DC sucks and does not have much around him.

Nope.  Didn't like it when it happened.  Don't really like it now.

Apparently a lot of clashing on set between the director and what's his name playing Batman.
