Gotta feeling this is going to wind up being one of the best Batman movies

It looks pretty good but I can't get past the fact that it's batman.  I can't seem to get interested in that.

Nope.  Didn't like it when it happened.  Don't really like it now.

ok we can change it to 99.999% liked it, lol

Sure.  Make the trade.  But don't then give him a brand new deal.   Same thing Howie did with Desean.

The new deal was fine too. His contract commits a total of $11M in cap space the first two years and $33M for three years.

Even if we cut him after the 2022 season, and take on $10M in dead cap, we used a total of $43M in cap space for three years.

That’s not bad at all.

LB Nakobi Dean would look great in Eagles green. Gonna be one of the good ones at the next level.

Man, if you didn't like the Slay trade, what acquisition are you going to like? Like 1% of your team's moves? Sure, the team won't be competitive during Slay's time here, so that's not great, but acquiring a CB like Slay isn't easy. They don't grow on trees.

Iggles has gone full boar anti-howie troll.

While I disagree with mist Howie criticisms,, I get where everyone is questioning most of his moves,  but IP has a complete lack of interest in any reason when it comes to any move made at all lately.

The only issue with the Slay trade is perhaps the FO and Coaches misreading the state of the team in years 2, 3 and future when doing it.  The presumptions were overly positive and the contract money shows it.  It also shows how the inept the Eagles are at drafting outside corners that they had to make that trade to feel like they could challenge against other teams.

That said, no one can deny that Slay is very much an elite corner, perhaps misused in his career by 2 franchises not in the greatest of places.

So breaking down Slay’s deal, and it’s essentially three years, $43M in terms of cap space allotment. Basically $14.3M per year. The trade compensation was fine. The money isn’t anywhere near bad. Yeah, the team cratered, but I don’t think anyone saw it coming like it did.

Batman is pretty much the only "superhero” to get interested in.  All the others that boast superpowers just lends itself to lazy writing.

Frankly though, the Batman script and storyline has been played to death.  I’m ready for a spoof at this point — where he leaves Gotham and faces a new challenge — fighting crime in Casper, Wyoming or Eugene, Oregon.  Likely more entertaining at this point

I resent that.  I say nothing to create a reaction when it comes to Howie.

Slay is a nice player, but I do not like adding a player about to hit the 30 plateau via trade and then paying him on top of that.  You may disagree with that, but it is not trolling.  Further, I made those statements before the trade was made as well, so this isn't a new thing where Howie did it, so I have to hate it.  I didn't like the idea of it before it happened, and I don't like it after it happened.

You want me to name some positive Howie moves?  He traded back from #6.  Drafting Smith... maybe.  Still think the trade with the Bears was the better move, but at least Smith can play.  Looks like Watkins can play.

How can anyone not be "anti-Howie”.  Being anything other is trollish TBH.

context is all it takes

Typical Iowa. Purdue player fumbles it out for a touchback getting ready to go up 24-7. They don’t win games as much as other teams lose.

Purdue shows why you don't reach for the pylon.

I don't think Iowa wins this.

Goodell doesnt get that chance. Its voted on by the Owners.

I've been saying this but the TE talent in college football is ridiculous and one of the factors I hope the Eagles take in to account with extending Goedert.

Brock Bowers is putting on a clinic today and he's a freshman.  UGA has 4 tight ends who are going to be NFL starters.

Tight ends are going to be littered all over the next few drafts.

I don’t know how it can be better then the first two Nolan versions.  But I’m willing to give it a shot.  I’m out on pretty much any other super hero movies now.

He just looks angry and beats the living crap out of people and I love it

How high will Nakobe Dean go?

If we are going by looks and ass kicking then there is only one choice.

Who put this LB corps together?

No one.  LB corps?  There isn’t one. Frankly, the only person playing LB that I liked the signing was Edwards.  Figured he would be a core ST player and spot LB.  He has more football IQ and instinct in his little finger than the rest of the group combined. Now who assembled the group masquerading as LBs?  That’s the way to word that question.

Let’s talk S.  He mentioned those as well.  In defenses that require FS skills, he has a downhill, somewhat slow S in Harrris but not a fit for Cover 1, Cover 2 or Cover 3.  He has McLeod who is missing a step and fails as a deep S without it.  He has Epps who is a bit slow for a FS but a decent back up and Wallace with SS like skills and speed in a too small frame for such.  Ideally, he needs two decent sized, fast Ss with FS like skills.  (Frankly, SS and FS are antiquated and Up or Box and Back fit better.) Who failed to draft some good Ss when facing the opportunity?

You are correct.  This team has zero concern about LBs... which is why we get to watch a guy who doesn't belong on the NFL field constantly out there getting abused.  He's a JAG, just like he was before.  But, he's better than some other dreck they've thrown out there.

The defense, as a whole, isn't good.  The LB position is a massive void on this defense, and teams are taking advantage of it.  Singleton isn't the problem, he's a symptom, but you know what you do when you have a cold... you take medicine to help you deal with the symptoms, because the symptoms suck.

I see your point about the linebackers and defense as a whole but tend to disagree about Singleton.

Honest question...if Singleton had another 2 decent LB's playing alongside him, would he likely look better or worse out there?  What if the rest of the defense steps it up a notch?  And some better scheming, etc?   Obviously he would look that much better.

The reason some fans are targeting Singleton this year is because his best trait is that he's always around the ball and (at the very least) trying to make plays.  So of course the focus is on him.  If he was playing like a true "JAG" he wouldn't be around the ball on almost every play that's within 10-15 yards of him....he would likely do what the other 10 guys on defense do and just let them make the plays if he's 10 yards away from it.   The guy is a solid player and should have a long career in the NFL....hopefully here.
