Honest question...if Singleton had another 2 decent LB's playing alongside him, would he likely look better or worse out there?  What if the rest of the defense steps it up a notch?  And some better scheming, etc?   Obviously he would look that much better.

He would look worse because 2 better linebackers would most likely have better read and react skills as well as physical talent so they would be making plays well before Singleton would get there.

Just because he's always around the ball doesn't mean he isn't a JAG.  He's around the ball 5 yards down field.  He can't make difficult tackles.  He gets thrown around like a ragdoll.  We're targeting him because he isn't good and he was being sold to us as a GOOD linebacker and a reason the Eagles don't have to draft one or bring any in.  Remember the Eagles had so much LB depth they were trying to trade them....that's laughable.

I see your point about the linebackers and defense as a whole but tend to disagree about Singleton.

The reason some fans are targeting Singleton this year is because his best trait is that he's always around the ball and (at the very least) trying to make plays.  So of course the focus is on him.  If he was playing like a true "JAG" he wouldn't be around the ball on almost every play that's within 10-15 yards of him....he would likely do what the other 10 guys on defense do and just let them make the plays if he's 10 yards away from it.   The guy is a solid player and should have a long career in the NFL....hopefully here.

He literally has a 90+% success rate against him when he is targeted. its a no brainier for offenses to attack him.

Love his dedication, heart and can do attitude but he is not a starting LB in the NFL. Hes a situational LB at best.

Singleton is terrible.

Goodell doesnt get that chance. Its voted on by the Owners.

Goodell was Taglibue’s hand picked successor.  Suggestion is that Rolapp, the media deals guy, is the likely successor, but Peter King threw out Vincent as a possibility earlier this year.  Goodell is signed through 2024, so the front runner may become more clear in the next couple of years.  Vincent makes so much sense.  Long time executive, level headed, explayer but does a great job of walking the line, minority in a sport where the majority of employees are minorities. Since he is already there, Roger should bask in the current CBA and new media contract and ride into the sunset.

Speaking of media, I wonder if the impending strike of the production crews is going to cause a blackout of sports.

He leads the team in tackles and is a special teams ace, even with the struggles of the defense.  I'm pretty sure someone out there would be interested in him if he ever parts ways with the team.

And yes, we can agree to disagree.

I mean it's more about nostalgia then it actually being worth anything. What is it worth to you to keep it? That's what you charge. If you can get over not having it for 50 bucks do it for 50. If 100 bucks makes the memories go away do 100.

If you really love it and don't want to get rid of it put an ridiculous price on it.

I'd love to test this hypothesis.   Of course... the rest of our LBs are also terrible.

Having two better linebackers wouldn’t make Singleton a better tackler, but I suppose it would help him miss fewer tackles since they would make them instead.

$150

He gets some of those tackles because it is Wilson’s zone and Singleton comes flying in to make the tackle because Wilson is around the bal but won’t make the first contact.  But Singleton has bad instincts.  He shows that in coverage all the time. He likes to play LB as a downhill S but he misses the read way too much.

More overvalued players because they play hard or had a hand full of good games. People keep falling for these guys

He leads in tackling because our opponents are targeting him more then double any other defender on our team and he is giving up the catch and having to make the tackle after. So he leads in tackling and leads the team in giving up the reception. Awesome

Its not always good to be leading in tackling on a poor team. Now if we had a good team, nice defense and he was leading, different story.

Its one of those items that is more about what it's worth to you and what it means to you. 150 is a good price too.

Yep. So many bad players rack up tackles.

I've been saying this but the TE talent in college football is ridiculous and one of the factors I hope the Eagles take in to account with extending Goedert.

Brock Bowers is putting on a clinic today and he's a freshman.  UGA has 4 tight ends who are going to be NFL starters.

Tight ends are going to be littered all over the next few drafts.

I wouldn't give Goedert a big contract unless they plan on using him as their top target like KC and SF did with Kelce and Kittle a couple years ago.

Im curious to see if Singleton makes the pro bowl just because he might have a great tackle total. That would be funny.

No sense in doing that until they get their QB of the future.

Which might be awhile.  Better to let him walk and let someone else overpay for him.

He's the leading tackler on the team...tell me again how he can't tackle.   Come on, you're better than that.

If he's (one of) the few guys out there making plays, yes, there are going to be plays that make him "look bad" because he could likely have been out of position AND DOING SOMEONE ELSE's job.   So although his stats could go down some with better play from the rest of the defense, he would likely look a lot better out there since he won't be the only guy trying to drag down a 250 lb RB running full speed ahead, after breaking through the line of scrimmage (when it's 5x harder to solo tackle a good/big RB without him making a move or barreling through you).

That said, no one is saying Singleton is the best LB in the league....but he's the best LB on the team and is a solid starter.

SOMEONE has to make a tackle on every play.  He can make a tackle every single play 5 yards down field and lead the team in tackles.

Did you see him miss at least 5 tackles against TB?

Man, if you didn't like the Slay trade, what acquisition are you going to like? Like 1% of your team's moves? Sure, the team won't be competitive during Slay's time here, so that's not great, but acquiring a CB like Slay isn't easy. They don't grow on trees.

I didn't like it because I was worried we got some old player past his prime
