Agreed, always felt the same way. Most of my work experience has been in restaurant/retail, can’t tell you how many crappy people I’ve dealt with, parents that let kids just run around causing havoc, amount of times I’ve been berated and cussed out by customers. Just people with no respect. And you’re expected to just sit there and take it for a job that does not pay enough.

I had a pizza place job where I was a pizza delivery driver, was taking a guys order once. Looking up his address he was just on other side of boundary for one of our other locations. I told him sorry we can’t deliver to you, call other store. He said they’re on 2 hour wait, you guys are on 45 min so your store sounds better. Told him sorry, no can do. He told me to shut the F up and go F myself, hung up before I could respond. Dummy forgot I had his address and phone number. Luckily I’ve dealt with his kind before so I shrugged it off, went about my day. But thought about what would happen if he did that & pissed the wrong person off who had his info. I contemplated on having dominos delivering him a pizza with nothing but dough and sauce, decided against it though cause I didn’t want to put dominos workers thru any trouble.

Seriously it’s crazy, they have no idea if the person on the other end of the line is nuts or not.   Apparently since Covid, it’s really gotten bad with customers being rude and nasty.  I’m afraid that one day instead of an ex employee coming back to shoot up his old store with ex coworkers as the target, someone’s gonna snap and do it to a bunch of customers in a parking lot or their homes.  I don’t want to get shot with a bullet meant for the woman next to me.

I worked in retail for 10 years and I can confirm, the customer is NEVER right. 95% of the people who walk through the front door are dumb as rocks. Most of them don't even know what store they are in, let alone even beginning to understand the supply chain and why we carry what we carry, why prices are what they are, why stores are laid out the way they are etc. And it really sucks that the average employee has to face the consequences of decisions and policy changes that corporate makes. I've been accused of everything you can think; being racist, try to scam people, bait and switch etc. Most of the time it's just a simple misunderstanding but too many people think you are trying to take advantage of them, as if I am the one who gets the money from the register at the end of the night

BTW, when you tell a retail employee you are going to shop somewhere else because you didn't get your way, just know they don't care and they are laughing at you when you leave the store. Don't be a Karen.

I’d get the " I’m going to Home Depot”, and you just wanna say, "you should of went there first”, or "IDGAF where you shop, I don’t own this place, ef off.”     Obviously any of those would get you fired, but….

The sigh of relief I feel when they say that knowing I don’t have to deal with them anymore 😂

The thing is to, if he was cool and nice about it, and maybe offered to tip me extra, I probably would of broke the rules and delivered him the food myself. That’s one thing that blows my mind working in customer service is customers think they’ll get what they want by being rude, which is usually true cause you just want them to shut up. But if you’re nice, patient, and cool about things I’m so much more likely to go out of my way to throw you a discount, a free drink, or something to say thanks for making my day better.

I worked in a grocery store back in the 1970s and early 1980s.  The people we had as customers were pretty damn nice.  I have actually thought about going to apply for a fill in position at the local store. One of my favorite jobs.

Unless you live in a small town, my recommendation is don’t do it.

So Liberty lost to ULM, a 32 point underdog and Willis, matched his mark last week with 3 more interceptions, 6 in two weeks, wow!  There really is no one stepping up this year for QB1.

Yes you do have to take it, another at Lowes and I’m sure HD has the same policy if you see someone stealing, oh well, you can’t chase the customer or even say a word to them. A former coworker at Lowes now working at a Giant grocery store was fired from Lowes  after a customer was stealing and another customer screamed at them for not doing anything about it.

Yup, a girl who was wanted for stealing from 3 other grocery chains ran out of ours with a few hundred dollars worth of meat. The assistant store mgr ran after her got tripped up and broke a rib.... HR gave him a 3 day suspension for not following safety protocols. Girl eventually got caught trying to steal again later that day, she had a heroin in her system and a ton of stolen merchandise.

They aren't anything like they used to be, 2 years ago I still loved my job. People are quitting retail in record numbers between the labor shortages and the division in the country retail stores have become a breeding ground for angry people to take it out on someone else.

Even nurses have been quitting their jobs to go work in warehouses to get away from the public because the amount of crap customers and patients are putting us through.

That said, if you're going to work somewhere, always do the best you can no matter what.  It's rewarding to yourself and at the end of the day, you'll likely be tired but you can go home with your "chin up" instead of drooped shoulders, thinking and complaining about how you're not making enough money.  Do it for yourself.  Eventually, you'll likely make more money.  Worrying about it and hating your job won't change a thing.  It will just make you (and in many cases) your customers miserable.  A positive attitude goes a long way.  (I probably won't get too many likes among Eagles fans but it's the truth, 🙂 )

I worked 365 days last year zero days off zero vacations. On more then 5 occasions had to run my department all by myself because of my team going out with covid while getting berated by customers and being pushed by corporate to the edge every single day.

Despite all of that I still worked as hard as I could and did the best I could to keep my department together and make sure the customers got what they needed and while being threatened and screamed at everyday.

Through all of that for an entire year what did I get? Suspended for 3 days and 1 incident away from getting fired because a female teammate decided she didn't want to be told what to do anymore and made a sexual harassment claim against me. The claims were found to be false but, I still almost lost my job because corporate said I put myself in that situation....

So with that being said with all due respect and no offense you can take your "be positive and happy anyways"  and stick it up your ass

Whatever you say, womanizer.

Kidding aside, sorry that happened.

11 years never a write up for anything ever never even a verbal warning for anything and my whole reputation thrown in the trash over a 20 yr old that wanted work to be a socializing event where we just hang out and be besties with everyone. We were actually short handed because the other ones quit because of her bullying them and making up sheet about them too and they were females.

I have worked with those types, men and women. I'm not saying you can't ever have a chat or relax a bit, but for crying out loud....work. So tired of people that show up to work so that they can talk and putz around all day.

Agreed, I love having a great time while working I hate being miserable at work. All I ever asked was get your work done, then maybe I'll throw an extra break your way or allow you to go chat with a co-worker for a few minutes.

That's how it is now though give them an inch for doing a great job and they take a mile. If you are not nonstop telling them how great they are they don't want to do sheet they want their participation trophy even as adults anymore.

For all of us former retail/current retail workers...what about the customer/family who walks in 3 minutes to closing time and just wanders around like the store just opened, taking their time, trying on clothes and leaving the fitting room a mess (after they've all been cleaned and re-racked) without a care in the world.

Pretty sure we've all seen the movie Waiting and if not, go watch it.  Retail and working in a restaurant while different can share a lot of the same frustrations and backroom antics.

I am the senate

Oh absolutely, we love watching the security cameras after an incident that was hilarious after the fact.

Like the other day an employee walked out of the bathroom with the roll of toilet paper stuck in her pants lmao. She walked all the way to her office and shut the door with a stream of TP leading to the bathroom lol. The amount of employees that walked by and didn't do anything about it was discouraging and the funniest sheet ever at the same time.

We get the last minute shoppers that get to the front to pay for their food and then proceed to hold everyone up by looking for coupons or not having enough money or whatever other inconvenience they could come up with

His special teams skills alone will likely get him signed somewhere else.  It's a matter of whether we would want to resign him, for how much, etc etc.

If he were only playing ST, he wouldn't be a whipping boy.  He's been elevated beyond his capabilities.  Of course, they have no one better.   And a disparaging comment on Singleton, isn't really directed at Singleton, it's directed at the decisions to allow him to be who is trod out there each week.   Personally, I think it's time to see what the younger players at the position can do.  Frankly, I don't see how it could get much worse.

I just want someone in round 3. Don't spend a 1st, they're too valuable to gamble on an underwhelming QB, and the defense needs those picks. Round 3. Develop a year behind Minshew. These guys are flawed but some may be developed if given the chance. See how we feel about the QB situation heading in to the following year draft.

No Jones/Howard at CB. No Parker/Williams/Fuller at WR.

This is the Jags' shot to beat the streak. GO JAGS!

I don't know the QB group available in 2023 but since the QBs this draft aren't showing it I suspect Howie is going to trade one of our 1sts this draft for either 1st in 2022 and 2023 or a 1st in 2023 and a 2nd 2022.  Something like that.  Making sure to have 2 #1s in 2023 if needed to move up.

Sirianni's level of competition is spreading.  He's changing the game.

He could trade a 2nd this year for a 1st next year.

Shouldn't trade one of these 1sts.
