A few interesting stats from Sheil on The Athletic:

Link to article

Here’s where the Eagles rank offensively in a number of categories:

  • DVOA: 18th
  • EPA per drive: 20th
  • Success rate: 27th
  • Points per game: 20th

I’ll be honest. I thought it was going to be a lot worse than that. The offense has not been good, but statistically speaking, it has not been a complete disaster.

The reason IMO is that this is actually a big play offense. Against the Bucs, we had 2 big plays to Reagor that were 40+ pass interference plays. We've had Watkins have numerous big catches (90 yards, 50 yards, etc). There's just no consistency down to down. 3 and out, 3 and out, 50 yard pass, 3 and out, etc.

Sheil touches on that later in the article too. Notes that we either throw screens behind the LOS (I think we're first or second in the league in such passes) or we're throwing bombs downfield. Nothing much in the intermediate range.

You needed the All 22 to confirm that? I think its time for you to get thicker glasses.

Just on the run game, being in shotgun for large parts limits what they can do and with very little motion, they aren't making the D over think what they will do.  Hurts needs to be better, but there comes a stage where the coaches need to enforce a system rather than morph one around the QB.

I've seen Pitt QB Kenny Pickett rising up draft boards recently....He'll be 24 entering the league, but I think QB is the one position where age isn't as big a deal. For the guys more into college, thoughts on him? I've seen he may sneak into the first round if he keeps up his good play?

If someone doesn’t flash Herbert style in the Senior Bowl this year, hard pass on QB. Play Minshew and build. We have the picks to turn this thing around quickly. Instead of a three to four year build we could be looking at 2 to be competitive again. Right now this is a joke and the roster is embarrassing.

The best down to throw from an EPA perspective is 1st down.

You know as well as I do if Hurts continues to fail and isn’t the guy that lurie is going all in on a QB this offseason so he has his future at the position. Joel Corry an agent stated as fact the eagles were after watson and willing to give up goedert as part of a deal to do it. I imagine it’ll be more of the same this offseason if things continue down this road.

I have zero trust that Lowie can turn this thing around to be competitive in 2 years, without a real QB.  And I don't want to be just competitive.  Gut the whole damn thing.  Hurts, NS, Howie, Cox....etc....bottom out.  It will take Lurie to see the light, obviously.

Well ya the biggest problem is Howie, he fails to see the big picture and play the long game. Now it’s just a rinse and repeat cycle.

Braves fan here, it’s over. It was over when Luke Jackson gave up the first hit. Luke Jackson is aids and everyone in Atlanta knew what time it was at that point.

Probably only need the all-2 to see how bad it's going for him.

Actually you’re wrong, but your stupidity is way high today

Saw this figured I’d post it since the nfl apparently knew in June 2021 and didn’t say anything to the raiders til October

The only way this team is competitive in 2 years is if they make a big FA signing. I don't really like any of the QBs in the draft, so 2023 would be the earliest to draft a QB.

F' them Raiders.

It's amazing how short sighted people on this board.

Wentz didnt want out cause he hated competition. He wanted out because Howie surrounded him with trash picks and backups. Imgiane you asking your parents for a new bike, they acknowledge you need a new bike, but instead they get you another pair of sweatpants.

And yes, Wentz is smart and knows he needs talent, if you explained to him you need to sit so we can get a top 10 draft pick he would do it in a heartbeat. I think EVERY QB IN THE LEAGUE WOULD

Everyone here knows why Wentz wanted out but Wentz did play poorly last season and can be faulted for begging for a trade rather than just playing.

I mentioned this yesterday or Monday.

You can throw every offensive stat out the window that has to do with the Eagles. they were getting whopped so bad by the chiefs and cowboys they basically played against prevent defense half the year. These are hollow-Matty Ryan type inflated stats.

In tight games, or real games, this offense is putrid.

So you obviously didnt read the article at all. The numbers show the offense is awful in first halves, but much better in second halves.

Only if it’s package deal and we sign the kicker Chris Blewitt

It’s taken him 3.5 years at Pitt to get going, and he’s improved a lot this year.  He doesn’t get killed for his completion percentage because of his WR’s having Nellies hands of stone.  He has tiny hands like Teddy B and a good arm, not a great arm.
One thing that may have slowed down Hurts development is playing so much at college and not breaking bad habits because he could win there, muscle memory.  As of now Pickett won’t make it to the 3rd round and because the other QBs are so bad, he may go in the first if he continues to play well.

@LeanMeanGM

Raiders 27, Eagles 23

Raiders seem to be able to make some clutch plays late in games, while the Eagles tend to make a lot of mistakes.  This game will be very winnable and it will slip away.

Bold prediction.  Barnett with his first sack of the season, and Goedert with 7+ catches.

I think this is the right call.

Their defense is a bend don't break defense too. They're missing both Arnette/Mullen, so they're thin at CB. We're going to be in 11 personnel most of the game. They should put Hayward on Smith the whole game. If they don't, we should be able to score.

Bummer. We need teams like Cleveland to win and keep Indy out of a wildcard berth.

Off topic.

in case anyone hasn’t noticed, Derrick Henry could become one of the best running backs in NFL history.  He has it all.  Huge back, nearly impossible to bring down one on one, great speed and the best stiff arm in the NFL.  If he can do it for 4-5 more years, easily a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Every team knows the Titans are going to run Henry 20- 30 times a game yet they still can’t stop him.  Amazing running back.
