Eagles somehow are -3.5 on the road against Detroit

I actually have a parlay for next week that i really want to take the lions with the odds being +1048. Basically lions over eagles, chargers over patriots, chiefs over giants, cowboys over Vikings,  bills over dolphins, rams over houston and bengals over jets.

That was my point. Houston can now bid those 2 against one another and Watson would accept either. We are irrelevant since he won't come here.

He will come here, he's told people he wouldn't veto a trade to the Eagles. He prefers Miami, but he will accept a trade to Philly.

Howie should start communicating with Watson's camp again. He was dead set on Miami, but If MIA is wavering and he's desperate to get out of HOU, there is a pathway to convince him to come here.

It's not CAR and MIA are loaded with offensive talent, heck between Quez/Smitty/Goedert/Sanders/Gainwell, we have the most among the 3 teams.

Disagree on Carolina. They have DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, drafted tremble and Marshall this year and getting CMC back. That’s pretty good weapons and young weapons to work with.

McLane reports that the Eagles wanted to interview Staley and one of the reasons he declined it was because he didn't wanna work with Howie.

The most likely reason he declined the interview is that he immediately signed with the Rams.

This is all worth if it gets Howie fired.

Why should we try and convince him to play here? If he doesn't want to come then so be it. We don’t want him here anyway.

Weird it's never happened before. Doesn't seem all that impressive.

You mean chargers. Which almost any coach would’ve. They had herbert and not a QB controversy

So do most RH QBs, because it's easier to throw to the side where your momentum favors your throw, which is why scrambles go to the QB's throwing arm, but designed roll outs often go to the other side to break tendencies. When you're on a designed roll out to your "weak side", you usually have time to set your feet, square your shoulders and throw - when you're running for your life, trying to stop and plant your feet may be a form of suicide.

You are creating a narrative that the Eagles' OL is some kind of sieve. In fact, the Eagles rank 10th for OL pass blocking win rate (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32176833/2021-nfl-pass-rushing-run-stopping-blocking-leaderboard-win-rate-rankings).

But go right ahead and keep spewing...

Duce was eventually hired by the Lions and I'm pretty sure it wasn't until after the Eagles hired Sirianni.

The problem with Wentz is he was never the same after his injury. Before then he could extend plays and make magic happen.

Right now he's playing well b/c it's the right scheme for him, but also b/c the Indy OL has jelled - because without good protection he's not a good QB. He's not decisive like Brady and no longer has the mobility to consistently make plays under pressure. He's somewhere in the #8-12 range and will remain there until his body starts to break down in a few years - he's not a poster child for durability.

On the Eagles, he'd have better passing numbers, but more fumbles and few of Hurts runs for 1st downs - so the end result would probably be similar. Wentz couldn't function effectively behind the makeshift OLs the Eagles have had to run out there this season.

Brooks out.

Seumalo out.

Lane out for a few games with his issues and probably still not 100% fit.

Mailata out a couple games and not 100% with his knee and having had to play both LT and RT on top of it.

EDIT:  I'll add Dickerson who is coming off a major knee injury and had no TC/PS and then is thrown out there as a rookie practically cold.

Yes, their OL has been a shuffled mess yet again.  However, what you're either not considering or ignoring is that there's been loads of time where Hurts had a good enough pocket and he continually breaks it too soon instead of just stepping up or stepping left/right 1-2 strides.  His pocket presence is abysmal.  It's like as soon as he sees/feels any players within 3 yards of him that he takes off.  Top half starting QBs can stay in the pocket with players just 1 yard from them while keeping their eyes downfield and simply moving up a step or moving a step over left/right.  IMO, Hurts will never have this ability.

I know your post was more about Wentz, but you had a post further back where you laid too much blame on the OL for Hurts' struggles then you mention OL here again.  BTW, the Colts had OL issues with injuries to start the season and the injury bug has hit their WR group as well, so not like they've been playing with their top O unit this entire time.  Another thing is Wentz would be able to read a D pre-snap much better than Hurts (who struggles to run RPOs) and know where to go with the ball and get it out quicker.  Hurts hesitates and has been slow to get the ball out on time.  That's not an OL issue, that's a him processing what he sees issue.  Between that and his awful pocket awareness he'd make any OL look a bit worse than they actually are.  I disagree that the end result would be the same.

What a stale-y take ....

Hopefully Gannon isn’t used as the fall guy, he needs to go yea, but others too.

The key to football at any level is:

- Controlling the line of scrimmage.

- Keep your QB comfortable and on schedule.

- Make their QB uncomfortable and off schedule.

THAT'S IT!!!!  It's not that F-ing hard folks.  All other pieces and factors are accents to those goals listed.  Obviously you need the QB to make the throws.  But if you have an offense that can't do those things, your offense is going to struggle.  If you have a defense that can't do those things, you are going to struggle.

I haven't seen an Eagle defense be so bad at making the other teams QB uncomfortable, then this years version.

Lowie is not smart enough at the basic fundamentals of football to see any of this.

Honestly, as infuriating as watching Hurts and the offense is...watching the defense is somehow more brutal. At least with the offense, when Hurts scrambles despite the lack of pressure, something exciting (good or bad) might happen. With our D, it's just water torture.

Watching the team on offense is mostly pretty hilarious, at least for me.

Watching them on defense is gross though.

So to Vegas we suck but we don't suck more than the Lions lol

It's soft coward football.  The next home game is against the Chargers.  Herbert is going to carve this defense up.  If they lose to the Lions, it will be an ugly scene in Philly on 11/9.  Unless they do something and bench Hurts or fire Gannon before then.

I have to be honest -- if we don't change anything up defensively, I think Goff will light us up. He's not great, but show him the same damn scheme over and over again and he will be accurate and carve us up. I don't bet on sports (and never the Eagles, too much emotionally invested already), but Lions +3.5 seems like a steal.
