My updated season prediction:

6-11

Remaining losses:

@ Detroit

LAC

@ Denver

Saints

@ NYG

@ Redskins

We will win:

@ Jets

Redskins

Giants

Cowboys (who will be resting their starters)

It's not that far off from my original prediction.  I have seen no improvement.  Hurts, Gannon and Sirianni are worse than I thought.  Which is saying a lot.

I'm not sure Dallas rests starters. Have to wait and see how it shakes out but the NFC is very top heavy. With 4 teams right now at the same record or ahead that last game could have a wide range of seeding possibilities for them.

The coaches are learning  how to coach ,the QB is learning to play the position  , nothing surprising about the record .

The Eagles could very well lose both to the NYG and WFT. Yes those teams suck too, but I honestly think they're better than the Eagles. The Giants will likely have their guys back healthy by then. They're missing some offensive weapons. and WFT might have Fitzpatrick back then who always kills the Eagles.

Yeah I didn’t realize how the top 6 NFC teams all had only one loss or none. And with how competitive AFC is this year now that Chiefs aren’t as dominant, I think this years playoffs will end up being very fun to watch.

One thing worth mentioning against Giants is they will be extra motivated to beat us this year because of what Eagles did in week 17 last year.

Given how last year went, you know the Giants are going to "get up" for games against us.

When your head coach's main message is "stick together" he's basically saying it's over.

The defensive players know Gannon is lost.  The whole team has seen NS press conferences and talks about rock paper scissors.  They have heard his silly speeches.  The guy has lost the locker room.  How can anyone on the team take anything he or Lowie says, seriously.

Fletcher Cox spoke for the whole defense last night.  People can kill him all they want.  I am glad he said it.

I’m ready for the offseason where i am excited until they do more stupid things and makes me yearn for the 2023 offseason. Lol

Up until post game yesterday, it seemed that guys weren't bailing on the coaching staff. I wanted to think the comeback in Carolina, the fact that they still had fight against the Bucs, etc. meant something. But...clearly the D is done with Gannon. Not sure if NS has lost the locker room (I don't think he has yet), but Gannon has lost the defense.

I just hope that in season he tuned down the whole "rah rah competition!" angle. Because that's how he's going to lose the locker room. The last thing a player playing on a bad team like this is going to want to do is play HORSE or do free throw competitions or whatever they do in the meeting room.

Arent they the worst defense in the league currently? Lol

To do list for Lurie

1 - Fire Howie

2 - Fire Siri

3 - Hire Rick Smith as GM

4 - Let him hire the HC

5 - Profit

I think if we get to a certain point, we gotta go to Minshew or Flacco to be able to properly evaluate Sirianni and Steichen. This RPO or read option every play crap is maddening.

Unless Hurts suddenly improves to the point where he can run an RPO, not break the pocket due to phantom pressure, throw to the middle of the field, and hit the WRs with anticipation and in stride then yes, at some point we absolutely need to see Minshew just so Sirianni's O can be evaluated 'without the training wheels' on it.  Minshew gives you that option.  We need a compare and contrast of the O.  My bet:  The O will function better and more fluidly under Minshew.  Not saying it will be a powerhouse, but at least function on a decent level.

In what sequence, though?  The Eagles' draft capital in this coming draft gives the opportunity to build some talent on defense.  I prefer build a competitive roster first, then drop in the QB (as TB did).

I also would like to see us load up on the D side with 3 of our first 4 picks going for D players (and preferably DE, S, LB/CB).  If we're going to go O in the first 4 picks it should be for an OL player.  We don't know what their plan is to replace Kelce.  Seumalo?  Dickerson?  Draft?  I wouldn't count on Brooks or Lane going forward with their injuries piling up.  Never hurts to have quality depth along the OL.

However, it's not as easy to drop in the QB.  Finding the right QB is just as much luck as scouting in terms of drafting one.  It's not often a solid starting QB shakes loose from the team that drafted him and that will cost you good picks.  Though, if you do build your team first then spending those picks for that final piece of the puzzle would be worth it.

Concerning the Minshew debate, I've always held the position that he's a good 'placeholder'.  He's at worst a top 1/3 backup who can spot start and give you good enough quality.  I wouldn't expect him to be the starter on a team with SB aspirations.  I think he is good enough to help younger skill players develop their games on the field so having him QB1 for a season while we develop a QB isn't the worst plan to have.  We don't have that with Hurts right now.

Where do we rank?

I think we already have the answer on Hurts that he is not the long term answer. He's regressing each week and is a detriment to the first rounders they've spent at receiver. I still think Smith is the real deal and is doing a good job of getting open. I'm much more down on Reagor, but there is still some potential there. But none of that will be realized if they stay with Hurts.

Neither Minshew nor Flacco are the answers either, but like you said, we'll at least get a better gauge if this is a Hurts problem or a Siri/Steichen problem.

I think that honor goes to the Chiefs but they are definitely in the running for worst defense.

We need to see that target share go up.

Hard to do since a TE's bread and butter is the middle of the field, which our QB doesn't like to throw to.  Sure, he can get some outside routes, but unless you have a QB willing to throw over the middle then Goedert will be underutilized.

Slightly better than middle of the pack in yards/game

9th worse in points/game

Def doesn't match up with what we have been seeing on the field.

I wonder if it’s because the passing defense hasn’t given up as many big plays as often as they used to. Not saying current passing defense is good, but just basing off what I’ve seen it’s been slightly improved. I could be totally wrong on this fwiw.

Notice Hurts isn’t on the list despite bailing from the pocket constantly.

I have to be honest -- if we don't change anything up defensively, I think Goff will light us up. He's not great, but show him the same damn scheme over and over again and he will be accurate and carve us up. I don't bet on sports (and never the Eagles, too much emotionally invested already), but Lions +3.5 seems like a steal.

Goff is actually built to beat this team more than Carr was, McVay hated that Goff wouldn't throw downfield, he hated the dink and dunk throws, but this defense is made for Goff.  Unless they get pressure on him he will carve it up.
We also get our first look at the argument pick between Howie and Donahue at the draft, Alim McNeil.
He’s averaging 36% of the snaps  vs Milton Williams who is the same at 36%.  McNeil is obviously more of a DT, than Williams is.

You imagine how funny it’d be if an Eagles fan caught Brady’s 600th TD ball. Brady would never get that ball back lmao

Carr was the ultimate dink and dunker early on in his career. Recently he's been pushing the ball downfield more. Yesterday was a throwback performance for him.
