I would also argue you need a DT cause Cox isn’t young. By 2023 when you hope to be a playoff caliber team he might just be done or gone. Could also make the argument if the goal is 2023 that you potentially need two starters as Nelson is a FA at the end of the year and slay is going to be 33 and you have no clue what McPherson is.

For sure. I'd like to see a DT picked to replace Cox

Here's some solid quotes I've seen looking back..

Remeber the Koy - Signing Fulgham to a long term deal is more important than signing DG.

BRKMSN - Fulgham is on a different level and is clearly a #1 in this league

Cochis-Colhoun  = Fulgham is a top 5 Redzone threat in this league

This backs up my statement a lot ... Westbrook36 " I'm glad we've reached the level of comparing Fulgham to Chris Carter" .

With out. a doubt people(seemed like a lot last year) extremely over valued Fulgham.

The first 2 don't give your statement any credibly lol. I know I was thrilled about his play and said all sorts of things. Maybe you saw a lot of people saying stuff just out of pure excitement. Those 2 you mentioned were serious though

This sounds like Howie's thought pattern. QB and HC are very important but so is the talent level of the skill players, the linemen, the d backs, linebackers, ect.

It’s not. If it was, he wouldn’t have hired a puppet coach like Siri.

For you Draft Guys out there. Watched Virginia game the other day, was impressed with their QB Brennan Armstrong. Looks like he has a chance to be a legit NFL QB.

It’s more difficult for lefties, especially ex pitchers\baseball players that throw a football like a baseball.  The NFL hates the wind up on a 25-30 yard throw, it’s not an arm strength situation except for when he passes to the right.
He looks like a left handed Philip Rivers on short passes though.

He played high-school ball just down the road. I wouldn't have expected him to be legit nfl prospect but his numbers are proving me wrong so far. Left handed kid with decent athleticism. It seems like he is getting a clean pocket on alot of his throws (same with the line he had in high-school). He can make the throws if he has time, not sure how he would do under pressure/having to scramble/making quick reads.

Rewatching the game from Sunday... out sick, and might as well make it worse...

First drive:
Play 1 - 11 personnel - shotgun (non-RPO) - incomplete.
Play 2 - 12 personnel - Stoll and Watkins on the field - under center - run left.  Defensive holding.  (Play gained 3)
Play 3 - "13" personnel - Rodgers and JJAW on the field - under center - run 6 yards.  (I am counting JJAW as a TE at this point)
Play 4 - "13" personnel - Stoll and JJAW on the field - under center - play action - deep pass to Goedert.   (JJAW stayed in to block)
Play 5 - "13" personnel - Rodgers and JJAW - under center - run left - gained 9
Play 6 - 12 personnel - Stoll as the #2 TE - run left - gained 7 yards
Play 7 - 11 personnel - shot gun - draw play - 1 yard (1st and goal play)
Play 8 - 13 personnel - Stoll and Rodgers on the field - shotgun - Texas (angle) route by Gainwell - TD. 8 yards.

2nd possession.
Play 1 - 11 personnel - shot gun - back to the RPO - Hurts skips the ball to Smith for an incompletion.
Play 2 - 11 personnel - shot gun empty backfield - quick out - 7 yards
Play 3 - 11 personnel - shot gun - Hurts escapes the pocket for no reason and picks up the first down.
Play 4 - 11 personnel - shot gun - QB Sweep (🤮 )  picks up 7 yards
Play 5 - "13" personnel - under center - Rodgers and JJAW - run left - picks up 5 and a first down
Play 6 - 11 personnel - shotgun - screen pass to Sanders - play that Sanders was injured... loss of 3 (and Sanders)

********************************************************************************************

Now, consider this:
Stoll got exactly 13 snaps, so he was only on the field for 9 more plays the rest of the way, after being on the field for 4 of the plays on the best drive of the game.
JJAW got 8 snaps, after playing on 3 on the first drive, 1 on the second.  4 more snaps the rest of the way.
Rodgers got 7 snaps, after getting 3 on the first drive, 1 on the second... 3 snaps the rest of the way.

The game ended up out of hand, but it was only a 10 point lead at half time.   They didn't have to go away from the bigger packages, even with the Sanders injury, they could have still gone with those same plays with Gainwell or Scott, but they allowed themselves to go in a completely different direction.

What would have happened if they hadn't lost Sanders... or if they hadn't abandoned what they did well on the first drive and a half?  This is where having a senior member on the staff can help steady the ship and say, "The game plan is working... let's not change it due to losing Sanders... keep running it with Gainwell and Scott."   No reason to change it up.   Up to that moment they hadn't put much on Hurts at all.  From that moment on though, it fell on Hurts again.  1st drive - he made 3 reads on 8 plays.  2nd drive up to that moment - 3 reads on 6 plays (including allowing him to run, both the 3rd down conversion inside their own red zone, and on the QB sweep).   I wonder what the rest might have looked like without the Sanders injury and if they'd actually decided to commit to running the ball, but once Sanders went down they just got scared and folded as coaches.

I just saw the game vs Wake Forest but looks like he has a legit NFL arm. Pretty good size too.

Fulgham has no talent and always sucked.  If that was a revelation to anyone just this year, then they don't know what they were watching.

Think I broke the game.

Also... looking at the QB sneak... why did Hurts go to his right... Run behind Dickerson and Mailata, not Driscoll.

Example #478 that he just doesn't have football intelligence.

Each game there is a noticeable trend of too many "Why did Hurts" questions. For playing football his whole life and his dad being a coach, he is incredibly football dumb.

You'd also have to look at the defense, when teams are successful running, DCs tend to make changes.

The real issue is neither Scott nor Gainwell are running down RBs, that is, they're not going to gain that extra yard or two per rush running inside against a base defense, they're better running out of passing formations where there's more open space.

Funny part is... as I'm watching it again... there is no one over Dickerson, but the LB shifted from in front of Dickerson to in front of Dillard a second before the snap, with the motion of the WR.  Why not run the sneak opposite that motion?

unfortunately those who have exceptional athletic ability, can rely on that ability and use their legs to win games in college, without really ever studying.

Long lines of guys at the QB position who were running qb's who never needed to learn more than the basics, because of their ability.

The NFL is the great equalizer, everyone is good to great athlete. Now you must study and learn your craft.... not everyone can

It does you get the women from California moving here for college and stay. Plus you have women from here that are beautiful. Arizona state and Arizona have absolutely gorgeous women on campus and the pool parties are ridiculous

@Original Sin Tell me what you think of Malik Willis. To my uneducated eye he looks like he’s got a great arm, can make all the throws, and from every angle.

Better athlete than QB right now  , he has a big arm , better outside the pocket , then inside , probably because he tends to bail early .

Reminds me of Jackson , but with a better arm , same build . I think he is smaller than the 6 ft 1 that he is listed .

he takes unnecessary sacks ,  I think he will need a niche system to excel . You draft him you’re betting on his upside  , because he needs work . I’m not a fan of running QBs  , because I think they cheat themselves on becoming a better QB  , because of their athletic ability and legs .

that said I’m sure some team will hope they’re getting a Jackson or Murray

With Hurts throwing the passes, every WR looks like a #3, Devonta included.  No one is seen when they are open, no one catches a pass in stride and has a chance to run with it, forget about making a play downfield.

And while I *think* this might have the ingredients of a very good wr corps, we can’t just assume that they’d otherwise be great, simply because Hurts is holding them back.  The possibility remains that they aren’t that great either.  We’ve seen how soft Smith can be getting thrown off his route or making plays on poorly thrown balls into traffic.

I guess you don't know what you are watching

He is a hell of a scrambler , I would argue he takes too much abuse all the running and scramble he does . He’s putting up the stats , I just don’t see it with him and the next level

I agree with all that but the things he's failing at is in the first few chapter of football for dummies. Sliding short of the first down, throwing away on 4th down (multiple times), throwing out of bounds on a free play, not falling on a fumble (multiple times). His situational awareness is atrocious.

Would do that Barnett trade in a heartbeat

  How did they come up with that value on Barnett?   Maybe its because his contract number is so low now... If anything close to that is available, that trade needs to be made yesterday.

They dont need barnett. Landry and Dupree are working out nicely
