People may think I'm crazy but I think the Eagles are tanking.   They're trying their best not to make it obvious but it seems like this could be the case.

Your post does not make sense.  I would have drafted Kamara over Sidney Jones ( 43rd ), Metcalf over JJAWful ( 57th ) and Jefferson over Reagor ( 21st )

Drafting Kamara does what to the draft the following year? Does everything fall into the same exact place because now Kamara is on the Eagles and the Saints have someone else? That one draft pick could have a long term effect on all other draft picks going forward.

What I said was snarky because it is. Everyone thinks that they can draft better then the team they root for but they are only looking at the college football players as pieces. They rarely look at the full set.

Would Metcalf have been even close to the same player he is with Carson Wentz/Jalen Hurts throwing to him with the offensive scheme that the Eagles run? Would he get free on all those long routes in the beginning of the career with a collapsing offensive line and jittery QB play? Would he have the mental makeup to continue to get better when the Philly media and fans roast him when he has a bad game?

Would Jefferson be the player he is if he was counted on to be the #1 target coming out of the gate right away? Would he still play that way on a team that doesnt run the ball like Minnesota and where he is the second option behind an all star WR in Theilen?

Without solid QB play neither one of these WRs would have made a lick of difference.

The defense tries to funnel everything away from the LB's, but every team knows it's by far their greatest weakness so they continue to attack them.

Makes absolutely zero sense to do this.

If i remember correctly, heard on WIP that they ran 1 play under center after the first drive.

4 out of 8 plays were under center on the first drive.  1 play of the second drive was under center... and that was before the Sanders injury,.   But, there were other under center plays after that... including the QB sneaks.

Holy crap, this team is a mess. Gonna be 2015 in here again if they lose to the Lions. God help us.

Hate to even type this but we almost have to hope they lose to the worst team in the league to get more pressure on Lurie to wake up.

Thumbs up or thumbs down on trade for Wilson.

He will be 33 in a month.

Eagles 2-3 years away minimum from constructing a SB caliber roster.

Who knows how long someone's window is when they're 35 or 36.

Do you trade all your draft capital for a guy who you may only have a couple years of a championship window to win with? If you even have that(because Howie will be putting the players around Wilson)

Losing to the Lions might be the best thing that could happen for the Eagles long term.

At this time, Wilson still hasn’t requested a trade from the Seattle Seahawks. Nonetheless, his original list of trade destinations included the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, and New Orleans Saints.

I for one, like Pickett so far. Though more towards the end of round 1/into round 2.

He may be the best of the bunch. But it seems there is no blue chip guy. As such, this year I prefer the value of selecting someone who is left in round 3 and using those earlier picks for guys who are more sure things (I know there is no such thing but you get my point).

There are so many QBs who have at one point or another been considered 1st rounders in this draft. And a guy with that type of pedigree will be left over in round 3. With a year to sit behind Minshew we may be able to mold someone.

Pickett, Corrall, Willis, Ridder, Strong, Rattler (if he declares), Shough, Howell, Slovis

Thats 8-9 guys who have been at one point considered 1st round prospects, just off the top of my head. There are probably enough there to have 1 or a few left in round 3.

After them there are other decent college QBs such as Jerkovec, Jayden Daniels, Purdy, Glass.

You are going to be able to choose from a bunch of those guys in round 3. And though none of these guys have the talent of Mahomes, I dont think its out of the question that you can find a Dak-like player in the group. Who was also a mid round pick. And maybe none should start as a rookie, but I think you can get yourself a solid project out of that group. And if youre not confident in his progression through 1 season then you can assess how you want to approach the position again the following year. Trade, draft higher, or draft another mid-round guy...

If Eagles are indeed tanking on purpose, who is it for? There's no "tank for _____" in the upcoming draft. Would it be a blockbuster trade by increasing the value of our early picks?

I wont complain too much if they take him with the Colts pick which will likely be in the teens. But... not sure he lasts to there.

Interested in these three in particular if we don't take one top 10. If top 10, I could be convinced on Corral. Absolutely no to Howell and Rattler.

Guys don't play yourself into thinking Pickett is going to last mid to late 1st round.

He is having a Burrow/Baker type rise up the boards and if the trajectory holds, he will be a top 3 pick.

Ridder will be in the same boat if he can make noise in the CFP against Georgia or Bama.

Why would you trade for Wilson so you can go 7-10 instead of 4-13? Watson went 4-12 in Houston.

QBs don't perform miracles, TB didn't turn it around b/c of Brady, they were an ultra talented team that would have won at least 10 games with any decent QB.

People talk abut Rodgers in GB, but 2 seasons as a starter, the defense gave up more than 400 points, 8-7-1, and 6-9-1.

When Howie traded up for Wentz, he had Peters - Barbre - Kelce - Brooks - Lane as his OL, Ertz at TE. So he didn't have to add a lot to help out Wentz.

Defense was 12th in points allowed, then 4th, 12th, 15th.

So Wentz could be conservative behind a solid OL. And when Howie added a couple skill players in 2017, Wentz blossomed.

At this point the worse the loss the better.  Gotta scrape the barrel.   32-0 game would pop some grapes, one would hope.  Goff throwing for 80% and 4 TDs would be just the type of embarrassment needed.

They're not tanking on purpose, they're tanking on merit.

I hope they trade down with one of their top picks and end up with 15 or so picks, and maybe an extra one or two in 2023.

The 2022 draft should be one of the deepest drafts in NFL history, the kind of draft where you can find future starters in the 3rd through 5th rounds, so stockpiling picks could allow you not only to pick up a few blue chips, but also fill out your bench with athletes who can contribute as backups and on STs while they learn.

When you have the talent to win individual matchups all over the field, this vanilla cover 2 can be tougher to beat. We struggled with Seattle for many years while we had excellent offenses and they just had our number. They took away our deep threat even when that was a prime DeSean, and were physical enough to handle all fo the underneath stuff. Because they had good edge rushers, and Mebane at DT. They had Bobby Wagner and usually 1-2 other good LBs with him like Wright, and Kendricks. And they had CBs who could cover, and good safety play.

We dont have the talent to win matchups all over the field.  We have 1 DT performing well and thats it from the DL right now. I think the DEs are more limited by scheme but regardless they arent threats right now. We have good enough CB play but no help from the safeties or LBs. We need playmakers at all 3 levels of the D. And then it might begin working. Most importantly, I have been saying, this defense needs LBs. Or at least 1.
