Idk, beating one the best teams in the league (undefeated at the time) without your #1 defenseman and #2 center is more impressive to me. And they definitely played worse tonight than they did yesterday, as expected in a back to back. First period was amazing, second period they started taking a ton of penalties and started to get buried. But they were able to hang on. 

Think the best part is the power play looks fantastic. Yeah they only scored once but aside from the one stretch where they let Vancouver play keep away they had a lot of great looks.

I think the opponent was more impressive in Edmonton. They also had 3 days off prior to that game and playing an opponent where you are going to be amped up for and something to prove on tnt. they were still down those two players, had their back up goaltender in net and it was the second game of the back to back after a big win makes it pretty impressive. It wasn’t only just the second game of the back to back but having to come back the next night after a huge win against the oilers. always going to be up for a game against a team like Edmonton as they are one of the best teams in the league so i expected their best effort in that type of game especially after having 3 days off. I can’t say i expected them to win but i expected to see their best effort in that game.

i didn’t expect that in the second game in two night. I kind of expected to see some tired legs and potentially come out flat to start that game against Vancouver. They came out with juice which is something i thought last year they didn’t always do. Where they’d find themselves down a couple goals early and then eventually get going later in the game to make it close. Add on it was only the second time all year the flyers managed to hold their opponent to less than 3 goals in a game  

The penalties were an issue in both games. 5 penalty kills in the Canucks game and 4 in the oilers game. Fortunately in the Canucks game they also got 5 power plays as compared to the 2 against the oilers. They average 4.2 penalties per game. Only once this year have they had less than 4 penalties in a game. I’d argue it’s one of their issues that’ll eventually catch up to them going forward if they don’t fix it.

Goaltending is the key for the Flyers.  Jones won this game for them.  Played great.  Hart played really well yesterday.  Flyers need top 10 goaltending to be competitive because they give up so many chances and can be dominated for entire periods.  They are in a tough division.  If the goaltending falters for any stretch they could easily drop in the standings, quickly.  But, so far so good.  Much more fun to watch than the Eagles and Sixers.

Watching the game last night I had 2 conclusions:

 

I'd still take Rodgers, he probably has 4-5 good years left if he wants to play

I came away unimpressed with Murray, Missed wide open down field WR's that would have been a TD's. He can run, and I know he has an arm, but I dont know if it was just last night or what but he wasn't accurate downfield.

I’d let go of Wilson and Singleton for almost any offer.  A 5th for Singleton would be great. Nothing lower than a 2nd round pick for Dillard, though.  He’s a starting-caliber LT for many teams

Murray is just inconsistent. Has all the talent to be great, and has stretches where he gets real hot. He also will light up the lesser teams with ease. I think his biggest issue will be staying healthy. Dude doesn't have the frame to take the hits that he does really.
