I did chortle a little at the WIlson benching. Who knew that the coaches would do that?  Wasn't sure they had it in them, but he has been terrible this season.

A sneaky interesting inactive for the Lions is Jamaal Williams; considering how running the ball is something Detroit do well it will hurt them.

As for Fletcher Cox, he can very much finesse a move away if he wants to and there will always be teams wanting him at his age.  The Chiefs being one.

Since it is Halloween, I'm wondering if Howie likes to restructure Halloween candy when kids come to his house trick or treating. Does he take a couple of Snickers bars from their Halloween pumpkins and promise them 4 Snickers bars in 2024?  He wouldn't have to buy Halloween candy if he keeps doing that.

Jamaal Williams is a pretty big one for them

Yeah they have someone named Jermar Jefferson as their backup RB with WIlliams out. He was the 257th pick in this past draft so he'll probably go off for 100+ all purpose yards today.

Good thing JJAW is active so we can run the predictable screens. Not sure how we would be able to do it without him.

The team acquiring Cox can cut him by the start of the new league year to avoid his $1M roster bonus. His $16.1M base salary is not guaranteed.

Let’s say a team trades for him and he suffers an ACL or Achilles tear, the team would have to pick up his option (I believe since he couldn’t pass a physical, but maybe I’m wrong) and the team would hold him until he is healthy enough to cut, so they’d be out $1M in 2022 cap space.

I don’t know the rules well enough, but the biggest issue might be having to hold onto him through much of the offseason and not being able to use the cap space immediately.

Overthecap has his salary for 2022 at $1.1M.  I'm curious which it actually is.

I would bet Howie makes a weekly phone call to Nick to remind him to play him.

His play hasn’t warranted 3 million a year let alone more , I just don’t see him being moved , better and cheaper options if said team did their homework , this article is just Rap throwing stuff around  , IMO

Bull.

The biggest obstacle is the Eagles would be over the 2021 salary cap.

2022 would be the bigger hit.  The roster bonus money would accelerate to 2022, not 2021, because it's already after June 1.

Is that good?

It's Howie.   So, it's good if you want it to be.   But, in reality... it's gross.   Now pile up the LBs drafted since Jordan Hicks... an equally disgusting list.

Why is it when ever a non NFL insider reporter puts out a "Teams are interested in XXX" And all of a sudden everyone is all over the place thinking they will be traded. How many times will these bogus trade reports or FA signing reports will it take till people get a clue.

I'm hoping I hear some "Fire Howie" chants in Detroit today since the Eagles fans travel well.

AJ Parker being out is big for the Lions too. Their CBs are terrible. We should throw a lot (Sirianni will be on board with this plan).

This will be the game where Lowie have said that they want to see the Eagles commit to running the ball.

I'd take the cap sacrifice to trade Cox, but the price would have to be a second, which I don't think is doable.

Hmmm, Wilson benched and RB Williams out for DET.  The latter will obviously affect the DET O as he was their most effective runner of the ball at 4.4 YPC.  Philly native D'Andre Swift actually leads DET in carries (78 to 71 over Williams, and in TDs 3 to 2), but only has a 3.4 YPC and has been more effective for them in the passing game with a team leading 42 receptions for another team leading 391 yards and tied for the team lead with 2 TDs.  Their other RB, rookie Jefferson, was benched for the Rams game.

Wonder if benching Wilson is purely for performance and trying to send a message to other players or if they are actually making some changes to the D?  Probably the former, though they need to do something different on D.  This game will be a good indicator of if Gannon is truly in over his head and how bad.  So far it looks like he is, but maybe he's also dumbing down the D due to lack of talent in the back 7?  They let up nearly 30pts or more vs this DET team that only averages 18.6 and is without their most effective runner then Gannon isn't ready to be a DC.

Not changing my prediction because until this coaching staff shows me they can make changes and adjustments then I have to assume they'll keep banging their heads against the wall and hoping for a positive result.  We got a glimmer of hope the first O drive vs LVR and then back to the same 'ol slop.

Maybe Howie has a deal in place to trade Wilson for a 2024 7th round pick swap

Meh. SF's secondary was decimated.  The Bucs secondary was decimated.  Hurts can only make one read and throw it to the sidelines.  So, even with bad secondaries, we don't take advantage.
