Let's break this down once and for all for your pea brain. Hurts AND Wentz both sucked last year. BOTH. Who cares if Hurts was slightly better, they BOTH sucked huge donkey balls.

This year, Wentz is showing that he's a much better QB than he was last year. Hurts meanwhile, still sucks, a lot. Is that clear enough for you?

Because I was commenting on someone's post that said that Hurts did not provide a chance for increased success or improvement last year.  But with how bad Wentz looked and then how Hurts looked in the Packers game, Saints and Cardinals game it look like he at the very least was providing some level of improvement at the position last season.  That's why he played the year out.

Clearly Wentz is playing much better this year but I don't know what the relevance of that is when Wentz had no desire whatsoever to continue to play for this franchise and forced his way out. You can cry about spilled milk all you want but at the end of the day Wentz did not want to remain on this team.

This isn't a situation where they chose Hurts over Wentz for this season. All reports and indications are they tried to and intended to bring Wentz back.  Scapegoated Pederson in hopes to appease Wentz.  Sold Wentz as the QB to coaches they interviewed but he did not want to come back.  It came down to Wentz or Roseman and Lurie chose Roseman.

Oy vey. Hurts looked just as bad last year. He has the exact same problems, except he's better in the 2nd halves this year, but far worse in the first. He played the year out because Doug wasn't speaking to Carson and/or vice versa. Hurts was atrocious last year, who would puff their chest about him when he was maybe slightly better than a completely disinterested Wentz? That's a helluva bar you've set.

"Hey guys, Wentz was the worst QB in the league last year, BUT Hurts was 2nd worst! So take that!!"

You don't understand why we are discussing Wentz's play this year compared to Hurts? Are you that dense?

Ertz was always a class act and from my understanding a great philanthropist for Philly. Good on him. I only soured on him last year when it looked like he had no desire to be here and wasn't giving his all, but he's human and I can forgive considering the year was a complete cluster F.  His jersey belongs in the ring of fame at the Linc (but don't retire the number or anything) and we'll always love him for 52.

Lock for Eagles Ring of Honor. Wish it was possible for him to get into the HOF.

I'd put more of last year on his ankle injury than most folks here are.

He wasn't just as bad last season.  Wentz was turning the ball over like crazy, taking all sorts of unnecessary sacks and just flatout constantly missing wide open wide receivers with his throws.  The offense was a 3 and out machine.  The numbers don't lie, the offense last season was more productive with Hurts than Wentz.  They gained more yards and scored more points.

If Wentz was completely disinterested last year than that speaks to a major red flag to his character.  I don't view Wentz as being completely disinterested last season, I just see him just having a season from hell where he wasn't able to do anything right no matter how he hard he tried and pressed.

Discussing Wentz's play this year in comparison to Hurts is meaningless because the Eagles didn't choose Hurts over Wentz for this season.  They wanted to bring Wentz back but he didn't want to come back.  It is what it is.  Wentz was traded not because the Eagles chose Wentz over Hurts but because the Eagles chose Roseman over Wentz.

The facts are that last season the offense performed better with Hurts than Wentz.

The facts are that Wentz forced his way out with a trade.  The Eagles didn't trade a Wentz that wanted to stay.  The Eagles didn't trade Wentz so they could move forward with Hurts. The Eagles traded Wentz because he had no interest in ever playing another game for this organization.

Question, if Howie and Doug were fired, would Wentz be open to staying?

Yeah I think he would have if the Eagles moved on from Roseman. Roseman put Wentz in a lot of unnecessary uncomfortable situations over the years and it's clear that Roseman was his primary grievance with the organization.

But Lurie sided with Roseman over Wentz.

@Bacarty2 why do you run away and hide when pressed for more than a one word answer on something ??

Please explain your understanding of the "BLOG" rules on rooting for other teams.

Class act.

Hurts - 1-3 record, 52% completion, 6 TD, 4 INTs, QBR 41, 13 sacks taken, 354 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 9!! fumbles, 6 lost. So 9 TDs total to 10 turnovers in 4 games....

Wentz, 3-8-1 record, 57% completion, 16 TDs, 15 INTs, QBR 49.6, 50 sacks taken, 276 yards rushing, 5 TDs, 10 fumbles, 6 lost. 21 TDs to 21 turnovers, over 12 games.

Yeah, Hurts really improved this offense so much last year....

To further break this down, Hurts was averaging 3.25 sacks per game, and 2.25 TDs to 2.5 turnovers per game.

Wentz averaged 4.1 sacks per game, 1.75 TDs to 1.75 turnovers.

That also represents absolute Rock Bottom for Wentz, while that may be Hurts ceiling.

Thanks for confirming your troll status.  There is no blog rule on rooting for other teams.

At this point with how bad JJAW is, I would convert him to Safety

he has more tackles than fumbles and apparently played Safety in High school

He's gonna get cut regardless so why not.

He'd be much better off converted to an H-back position. Odd that they haven't tried it.

Higher PPG and YPG on offense when Hurts was in last year compared to Wentz.

Edit: Also, Hurts only had 2 fumbles lost last season, not 6.

There was a temporary bump to the Eagles level of play last year when Hurts came in, the problem was that most of us knew it was temporary and knew it was just a matter of time before it inevitably crashed back to earth.

Its not the first time or the 1000th time a running QB has come in as a backup and provided a temporary spark to a team.

20.87 ppg vs 20.89 ppg

In games they started and completed, Wentz, 21.5 PPG, Hurts, 22.3 PPG.  What a massive improvement.

Yes, we call it moving goal posts. You guys now have a reason to root for other teams, and I always have.

EVERYONE here is rooting for teams other than the eagles because of one reason or another.

I was told, unequivocally, it's never right to root for other teams.

MOVING GOAL POSTS

Rooting for a team to beat another team when it benefits the Eagles is not an issue.

Rooting for a team, when it has no bearing on the Eagles is fugazi.

Example, I am rooting for the Texans to beat the Dolphins this week, but I will not be rooting for the Texans any week after that.

Didn't say it was a massive improvement but it was a level of improvement and that's just the fact of it.
