That's why they have the boosters and it's still more effective than anything else.

Many don't qualify, because the vaccines do what they were designed to do. Reduce hospitalizations and deaths. Monoclonal anti-bodies help when you catch it, and now new anti-virals are coming out. The real issue is a crazy anti-vaxx crowd and rabid pro-vaxx politics getting the message all screwed up. I don't think Aaron is helping anyone, but he makes a few points.

But bottom line, listen to your doctor. I don't follow a QB, nor the media, nor a politician, for medical advice.

That was horribly misrepresented. Not surprising from NPR.

What actually happened was, he released a video on Instagram that explained why he had to cancel a couple shows. He told his fans he got COVID and said "I caught COVID, I was feeling like crap and tested positive. My doctors threw the kitchen sink at it, I got monoclonal antibodies, zpac, NAD drip, ivermectin, and dexamethasone”

And hours later the media’s headlines were "ROGAN IS TAKING HORSE DEWORMER IVERMECTIN OMG!!”

It was absolute garbage fake news clickbait garbage. And Rogan got Sanjay Gupta to admit it on his show.

Me personally I'd take Marino.

Marino was fun to watch, expert at navigating the pocket, super quick release, big arm.

If he ever had a running game or defense in his prime he might have won a superbowl or two...

I miss late 80s 90s QB play.

Defenses were allowed to play back then and it was fun watching guys like Marino Kelly Moon Montana young carve up actual defenses rather than the weak style of defense the league employs now.

Sadly, all I remember was one of his last games. I do feel bad that he never won a SB, because he was awesome in his prime.

Oh yeah.  Loved Warren Moon.

I support COVID vaccines,

but not COVID vaccine mandates

Then again, I hate athoritarians, and would rather be free, and be able to make that choice for myself.

Yup, in his latter years he was kinda sad to watch, he could barely move and whatever Jimmy Johnson was trying to do with him wasn't working.

In his prime though with Shula I'm hard pressed to come up with a QB who was a more talented passer.

Some guys like young Or elway were more athletic and could run but as a pure passer Marino had it all, too bad he never had much of a team around him to help him out

Had the Marks Brothers and that was it.

No running game never any Defense until his last year's.

So for any degenerate gamblers, right now Stafford’s Vegas odds of winning MVP, is 5th.
Josh Allen is first.

Correct, but even that is waning. J&J is basically useless.

Me too, I remember after he left the oilers and everyone thought he was done and goes to Vikings at age 38 39 and throws for over 4990 yards each if those years then at age 40 has a down year everyone rights him off again and he goes to Seattle at age 41 and throws for 3600 yards + and makes the pro bowl.

Dude was amazing, sad he never got a ring either

Or, you actually do some research and see that it FDA approved for human use and realize that doctors do prescribe things OFF-LABEL.  And there's nothing wrong with that.  He didn't wake up and decide to steal his horse's parasite medication, he had it prescribed by a doctor (referring to Joe Rogan).  He and his doctor decided this was the way to treat his illness.  Rogan got better.  Did Ivermectin play a role in that?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  That's why doctors do research on drugs to find out what they can do, both good and bad.   Meanwhile, since the illness is relatively new, there hasn't been much time for researching DRUG treatments for it.

So, what's so funny?   This is how things are learned.  Joe Rogan didn't decide to take this drug on his own, and I'm supposing that his doctor had a reason for suggesting it.

It's a drug given to horses and cows as a de-wormer. I know he probably didn't take the Veterinarian prescribed pill, and likely took the human form pill but it is still treatment for parasites and does not treat viral infection. It's been studied and proven to not treat COVID. The FDA said "do not take Ivermectin". He's going against all the advice and taking it because he talked to his podcast buddy.

and not picking on UTE, but for some people who watch CNN, or other propagandist news networks and for much of social media, Ivermectin has been politicized.

It's ridiculous, of course, but this is the state of the world today

That's a lot of supposition.

The funny thing about Ivermectin is when people disingenuously referred to it as "horse dewormer" it won a nobel prize for treating humans. Not for COVID, although some small studies showed it had some type of effectiveness, and larger studies showed it didn't very much. But the media outlets knew Ivermectin has been used to treat humans and is totally safe, but they wanted to frame it to make Rogan look bad. And they also lied about emergency rooms across the country being overloaded with people taking Ivermectin. That was looked into and it turned out to be a total lie.

Because of his popularity, both the left and the right use Rogan as a tool to promote their agenda. It's really sad.

Ivermectin is a great drug... for what it treats. And it's very safe in human doses. It's not been proven to treat COVID. There is no perfect treatment for once you get it and have bad symptoms. So far, the most effective has been the monoclonal antibodies, but they're expensive. Coincidentally today, Pfizer said they have a drug in pull form that is 90% effective to treat symptoms once you get it.

I agree with following advice of doctors.  There's no rabid vaccine crowd.  I think there's healthcare providers and other employers that are risk adverse to potential liability from un-vaxxed employees.  The so-called vaccine mandate for large employers is only a testing or vaccine mandate.  It has real world applications to prevent the spread of the disease.  It's a reasonable policy and it helps employers and workers.  I am hoping that treatment for Covid can move along to a point were vaccination becomes more of a non-issue but I imagine some employers are always going to require it much like employers mandate flu shots.

I don't agree with what Rodgers is arguing, but at the same time there's going to be very disingenuous portrayals about what he's saying. Being against vaccine mandates is not anti-vax per se. If you're someone who's been vaccinated on numerous occasions but doesn't want this particular vaccine, it makes no logical sense to call someone anti-vax. Anti-vax originated from people who tried to argue all vaccines are bad and cause autism.

Conflating the two isn't going to make for quality discourse either.

And I don't know what he got from Rogan's podcast, because it's one of the ones I listen to regularly and Rogan has said numerous times to listen to doctors for advice not his show. That people who need it and want it should get vaccinated. So not sure what Rodgers is referring to there.

Curious about how he knows he's allergic to something in the vaccine and if he's had previous bad experiences with them or if he just made that up.

There's no room for discourse. Vaccines are a god send to humanity, anybody that opposes them is wrong. It's that simple.

See above.  Medications are used off label as prescribed by doctors frequently.   There's not much research on effective drugs... and even if its just a placebo effect... placebos can actually have tremendous impact on health for some people.

The amount of authoritarian statements being thrown around as if the lay people have all the answers, when even the medical community clearly shows they don't have all the answers, illustrates that people will believe whatever they want to believe.  It's just a matter of whom you trust to give you the information.  Rogan trusted his doctor, and got good results while taking Ivermectin.  As of right now, it sits as a bit of an anecdotal piece of evidence that it is effective.   To find out if it truly is or isn't, larger scale testing would need to be done.  So, someone else taking the same treatment shouldn't be laughed at, but instead viewed as a step towards gathering more data on the subject.   But, these days we just want to laugh at things rather than keep an open mind, I suppose.

It would be nice if people looking for treatment options for Covid weren't constantly being berated, because frankly, that is a far underserved part of the entire Covid experience.  Lots of money thrown at a vaccine, which is great... but treatment is also important.  Let's not scoff until some research is done.   Lots of medications end up doing far more than they are originally expected to do.  Aspirin was invented as a pain reliever, and works really well at doing that.  Turns out, decades later, that aspirin also is a great blood thinner and is useful for treating heart attacks in the moments that they are happening.  Let's be a little less dismissive, and a little more curious.
