The only reason I visit amusement parks is for the Turkey leg, I used to get 2 of them and let the kids hit the rides.  No rides for me, I’ve welded enough to know that I could teach a monkey to MIG weld in about an hour, some of crap that holds those structures together looks like half chewed Hubba Bubba.

For some reason your posting style reminds me of Dumblebear....without the youtube videos of course. And you're a bit more coherent, but not by much. And I feel like you started showing up in here just as he got banned....

Turkey is good, but I think for how muck works needs to be put in it should be better.

I don't think turkey is that much work?

Last x-mas it was just me and the missus, so I made beef wellington for the first time. THAT'S a lot of work. Though the payoff was phenomenal, it ended up working out really well.

Go to the PA Renaissance Fair.  Get loaded up on beer, a turkey leg and soft pretzel and take in all the sites...it can be quite the entertaining day.

Speaking of cooking..........Thanksgiving is going to SUCKKKKKK!!!!!!!

We have 18.  Our dining room can only seat 8.  Our table in the kitchen.....breakfast nook can only sit 4. My wife is adamant that we have a table set up in our living room for the other 6.  I would rather put them on the deck.  I will have two turkeys....and a bunch of f-ing people in my way.  If it rains....I am f-ed and I might kill someone.  If it's nice then everyone outside until I ring the dinner bell.....WHY!!!???  My wife invites so many GD people.

Here’s a quarter , call someone who cares .

Yep.  That is a lot of work.  And done right, is phenomenal  Did you make the homemade duxelle and everything?

Yessir, figured if I was gonna do all the work for it, might as well do it all the right way. Had to call my brother the chef at one point to make sure the duxelle was done right, and it was.

The only thing I didn't make was the puff pastry. Just bought a pre made puff pastry sheet that I rolled over the thing.

Should have been more specific, time and work. It's not a lot of work besides brining, making an herb butter and rubbing it under the skin, and then carving. Just the overall investment put into it doesn't seem worth it to me. Unless it's deep fried, which is better than the traditional roast anyway.

I made a long post about this last week.  IMO, it's the #1 issue facing our country and world today.  How did we get here?  Why do people feel the need to destroy or sorry, cancel, anyone they disagree with?  Everything needs a label now and if you don't fit in under that label, then you're wrong...or if you are under that label you're wrong.  It's infuriating that we've come to this.

Cnn is the number 1 thing wrong with this country

To inflame the blog on a different subject, I think Thanksgiving food is criminally overrated.  Turkey is such a bland, dry, vapid meat.  It's the Gannon defense of meats.  Then just heap on some breaded stuffing with a hodge-podge of veggies and gravy to try to make it palatable.

Then let's eat leftovers of the same crappy dinner for the next 5 meals.

Yes and all of his clones

Love him.  His routine about "company" when the doorbell rings is hilarious.

He's one of the best out there.  Coming to Hershey end of the month.  I can't think of a bit he does that I don't relate to or like.

Definitely agree on the Turkey. It’s my least favorite thanksgiving food.

Me too, we've smoked turkey legs that have been good but I always feel like a full bird is overrated.

Historians have questioned whether the first Thanksgiving even had turkey, most likely had deer or elk, along with wild fowl, and she'll fish and sea food like eel.

This year my wife and I have decided we are going away from the traditional  turkey and are going more historical and since I don't hunt nor want to buy venison were going to go for seafood and since I don't like most cooked fish we're doing sushi for Thanksgiving, I love eel sauce and eel on my sushi.

No fuss no muss for me this Thanksgiving.

Well obviously it's not done right.  Easy way to make Turkey dry is to not let it rest for at least 30 mins out of the oven.

You like sweet potatoes or cranberry anything more than turkey?

WTF is wrong with you people?

Don’t like sweet potatoes at all. The Ocean Spray cranberry Sauce that retains the shape of the can after dumping it out, hell yeah. Love that stuff.

As for what’s wrong with me, well, that’s a whole nutter thread right there.

Father of the Year

Hey, I made sure my wife went with them as well, especially on the wooden roller coaster at Hershey Park, some loon with a saw zaw, and a pack of matches could drop that monstrosity in 30 minutes.

I would have agreed with you many years ago. My grandmother always cooked the big meals for family get togethers, and bless her, but she overcooked EVERYTHING. Roast beef was dry, turkey, forget about it. She did make an amazing gravy that saved her meats though.

My little brother became a chef. He wouldn't cook the big meals while my grandma was alive out of reverence to her. But she passed, and he cooked our first turkey dinner without her for Easter one year. My god, the difference was astounding. Juicy, delicious white meat, with a great gravy to match was divine. He cooks all our family meals now and it's markedly better.

I think many people just follow their grandparents recipes, where they had to cook everything until there was no flavour left. I've also heard deep frying turkey is phenomenal but I've never tried it.

I’ve tried it once, and in spite of what I just said about Turkey, eating it deep fried was actually very good.

Never done deep fried turkey either, seen way too many videos of guys blowing up their garages starting their houses or themselves on fire.

Just doesn't seem worth it to me

Every single F)(&;@/)( time the reality that turkey sucks is discussed with a group, there’s got to be a few wise a);&):) mother $;@/)/) who say "then you aren’t doing it right.”

The only right way to do turkey is to toss it in the trash.  Get your crap together.

It's super easy. You see videos like that because 1) They are idiots. 2) The turkey isn't thawed. or 3) They are putting in too much oil which makes it spill out when the bird goes in.
