Turkey is the Jalen Hurts of fowls. You get excited for it to be usually let down. To make it work you have to prepare it a completely different way than the traditional way. It should only be seen and had once a year. The side dishes around it are better, and if they aren't it makes everything worse. People would choose Chicken, cornish hens, Duck as all better, but someone will be like "Well its better than Goose, so yea! It's great!"

Crunchy or smooth? And brand of PB? Type of jelly? These are questions that need answers lol

It's super easy. You see videos like that because 1) They are idiots. 2) The turkey isn't thawed. or 3) They are putting in too much oil which makes it spill out when the bird goes in.

I might have to give it a try one of these days, when I do I'll be sure to come here for tips👍

Crunchy Kirkland natural from Costco, strawberry jam or apricot preserves, on wheat berry bread👍

To inflame the blog on a different subject, I think Thanksgiving food is criminally overrated.  Turkey is such a bland, dry, vapid meat.  It's the Gannon defense of meats.  Then just heap on some breaded stuffing with a hodge-podge of veggies and gravy to try to make it palatable.

Then let's eat leftovers of the same crappy dinner for the next 5 meals.

Just out of interest, what do you guys then eat for Christmas Day seeing as you've normally already done the whole Turkey for Thanksgiving? More Turkey???

In speaking in relative terms of the COVID Vaccines only

No I dont think most employers would have that right.  I can see the argument for hospitals/healthcare workers.

Mind you I am fully vaxxed, but I work with about 60% unvaxxed people. If we mandate the vaxxine we would lose close to 50% of our work force and shut us down. We would lose alot of our customers. We are in a support service company that touches all businesses. IN our industry, this is the norm. 40-60% unvaxxed.

Since the Vaxxine does not keep you from getting nor transmitting COVID, I cannot see an argument for the mandate.

Employers are making market based decisions with regard to profitability. Vaccines prevent the expensive consequences of the disease, limit lost-time and healthcare costs.  They also limit potential liability claims if customers potentially contract Covid from an unvaccinated employees.  There is no legal prohibition on firing someone for not getting vaccinated unless the persons' reason falls under a protected reason.  I think there's potentially an argument for ADA accommodation but that doesn't mean the employer has to accommodate.  I think an employer would not be violating the ADA if they could not allow that person to do remote work and fired someone for not getting vaccinated.

The real issue for any employer is what makes sense from a business perspective.  I don't think any employer is going to layoff half of their work force because of vaccine status.  I do think they will start giving incentives to get the vaccine.

I asked my mom the same thing when I was a kid, why have turkey for Christmas when we just had it the Thanksgiving, I think she started getting honey baked ham for Christmas I stead.

I normally serve up a Turducken 3 bird roast. Straight up Turkey this year though. Mother is coming round, she's VERY traditional 🤣

Bingo... again I am 100% against COVID vaccine mandates.  A mandate in our industry would cause us serious harm, would affect our customers negatively and would help to only increase the supply chain issues.

Same could be said for 1st responders, though I get the argument as to why a mandate for them. Just not sure it's prudent.

Duck is the best bird. Meat and eggs.

That's a nice traditional option, with yorkshire pudding (which is also amazing).  I have also done homemade pasta and bracciole in years past.

But growing up, we always did turkey dinner on xmas.

What's your idea of a Yorkshire pudding? We kind of have this preconception that they're generally unheard of outside the UK...???

this year for me my family is spread from east coast , west coast and down south so just me and my girl and dad , he didn't want turkey so i secured a huge brisket for thanksgiving.

My mom was never good at making ham.  It was always too dry or too slimy.  I prefer doing our own thing and always thought the honey baked ham stuff was kind of cheating.  Not until my aunt brought us one that changed my mind.

Creamy PB.  Crunchy is for commies......

Jelly, Jam or Preserves....???!!!  Now that is the question.  I like Bonne Maman....or the homemade stuff my wife and in laws make.

Creamy is it.  I have a fig tree and make my own jam although my preferences is for strawberry.

Ham, Turkey or this year I'm think about prime rib.

Hot pineapple on a ham is f'ing gross.
